Our God is King and NOT a President

by Rick

This morning we continue our series, “Grace that is Simply Amazing” by continuing with our mini-series entitled, “Grace Based Success (Prosperity)”.  Let’s close out the week by going back to the same passage we covered yesterday to bring about a major point.

Then Pharaoh gave his special ring to Joseph.  The royal seal was on this ring. Pharaoh also gave Joseph a fine linen robe and put a gold chain around his neck.  Then he told Joseph to ride in his second chariot. Pharaoh’s officials said, “Let him be the governor over the whole land of Egypt!” (Gen 41:42,43 ERV).

Pharaoh was a king.  His earthly authority gave him the legal right to do what he did with Joseph in his kingdom.  If Pharaoh had been a President or Prime Minister he would not have had the power to promote Joseph like he did.  Kings are sovereign and they have absolute power.  Likewise, God is a King.  As a matter of fact, He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords.

So what does this mean to you today?  A few things:

1.  Pharaoh was not an elected official.

a)  Those of us who are accustomed to a democracy sometimes find it hard to relate to kingdom concepts.  Let’s use our presidential office as an example.  Even if God gave a prisoner supernatural favor with President Obama, the President could not do what Pharaoh did.  If President Obama decided to promote a prisoner to ‘second in command’ of the entire nation, it would only be a matter of days before the former prisoner and the current President would be removed through our nations’ system of checks-and-balances.

b)  A president does not have supreme power or absolute authority.

c)  A President’s power is limited to the system of government.

2.  Pharaoh was a king.

a)  Egypt was under a monarchy and not a democracy.

b)  A king is not elected.  A king is either born into power (by blood) or he takes the position as a result of conquering a nation (by force).

c)  A king rules with complete and total authority.

d)  A king is not subject to checks or balances.

e)  A king does not govern, he reigns and his word is final.

f)  A king can do whatever he wants in his kingdom and he has no one to report to.

3.  Our God is a king.

a)  As a King, or more specifically the King of kings, our God does not have any checks or balances.

b)  God operates under kingdom principles and not democratic rules.

c)  God can do whatever He wants and He does not have anyone to report to.

d)  God is not subject to man.

e)  God is the supreme and sovereign ruler of all things.

f)   God does not have to check with anyone before He promotes you.

g)  God does not have to get clearance to increase you.

h)  God does not have to ask permission to expand your territory.

i)  God can turn your life around in one day, with one Word, just like Pharaoh did for Joseph.

4.  Our God is Sovereign and Omnipotent.

a)  One Word from God can turn any hopeless situation around.

b)  There is nothing too hard for God and there is nothing He cannot do.

c)  When you are dealing with a sovereign King you must open yourself up to the possibilities made available to you through the power of the throne.

d)  Believe God!  He has the power to change your situation in an instant and if He chooses to bless you, nothing can curse what He has blessed.

e)  The more you understand God’s power, the more you can appreciate His grace.  He has the power to do anything and He chooses to bless you, because He loves you, because He is so good!

Closing Confession:   Father, I thank You for teaching me about Your grace and my requirement to live by faith.  The more I study Your grace and Your power, the more I appreciate You and Your tireless dedication to me.  You love me with an everlasting love.  You pursue me with unyielding passion.  You go out of Your way to bless me and to help me become the person I was born to be.  You have all power.  You are the King of kings and the Lord of lords.  You sit on the circle of the earth.  There is nothing You cannot do.  Therefore, there is nothing I cannot believe You for.  This is my declaration: “I believe God and there are no limits to what my God can do.”  So I enter every day with great expectations.  There is absolutely nothing You cannot do in my life.  I take the limits off of my limitless God, I dream big dreams, and I expect that You will grace me to bring them to pass.  I serve a God who can change my life with one Word.  I am never hopeless, because You are always with me and Your presence assures me that I am never helpless.  You are my ever present help in the time of trouble.  You are my rock, my fortress, my God and I worship You!  I am confident that You will see to it that I maximize my purpose and potential while I am in the land of the living.  I declare this by faith.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
This is Today’s Word!  Apply it and Prosper.
