Focus on the Awesomeness of Your God

by Rick

(Read Daniel 6:26-28)

This morning we continue our series, “Grace that is Simply Amazing” by continuing our mini-series entitled, “Grace Based Success (Prosperity)”.  For the last few days we have been learning from this passage.  Let’s get back to it today.

The Bible says, “I am making a new law. This law is for people in every part of my kingdom. All of you must fear and respect the God of Daniel.  Daniel’s God is the living God; he lives forever.  His kingdom will never be destroyed.  His rule will never end.  God helps and saves people.  He does amazing miracles in heaven and on earth.  He saved Daniel from the lions.  So Daniel was successful during the time Darius was king and when Cyrus the Persian was king.”

Today I am going to focus in on King Darius’ exaltation of our God.  The king said, “Daniel’s God is the living God; he lives forever.  His kingdom will never be destroyed.  His rule will never end.”

So what does this mean to you today?  A few things.

1.  Our God is eternal, alive and active.

a)  We learned yesterday that our God “helps and saves people”.  Your God is not some distant, despondent or disconnected mythical being.  No, your God is a living, loving, caring and focused Heavenly Father who made plans for you before the world began and He tirelessly watches over you to ensure His plans come to pass.

b)  Darius said, “Daniel’s God is the living God; he lives forever.”  There has never been a time when God was not, and there will never be a time when He isn’t.

c)  God was there before the beginning and He will be there after the end.

2.  Our God’s Kingdom will never be destroyed.

a)  While referring to our God, King Darius said, “His kingdom will never be destroyed.”

b)  King Darius was a man who saw kingdoms rise and fall.  He was a sitting-king, enjoying his time as a sovereign leader of a kingdom, with full knowledge that his days were numbered.  King Darius knew his rule and his kingdom would both end some day.  But the Lord’s Kingdom will never be destroyed.  King Darius wrote about an eternal Kingdom, a divine Kingdom, a supernatural Kingdom.  That’s our Kingdom!

c)  You are a citizen of a Kingdom that has no end.  Remember that as you enter this day.

3.  Our God’s rule will never end.

a)  While referring to our God, King Darius said, “His rule will never end.”

b)  Our God sits on the circle of the earth.  He is the King of all kings and the Lord of all lords.  He is the one true, eternal and all-powerful God.

c)  King Darius was a sovereign ruler over his kingdom.  No one could check or balance his power.  But Darius knew his rule was not eternal and some day he would either die or be overtaken.  Our God, however, will never die, He will never be overtaken, His rule has no end-date, and His power has no limits.

4.  When you focus on the awesomeness of your God, its hard to be intimidated by any situation.

a)  This is a trying time for many people.  My wife and I have received countless calls and emails about challenges people are facing.  During this time, instead of exalting your problem, take a few minutes to exalt your God.  If you shift your focus from your problem to your God, you will find yourself better prepared to embrace the grace to overcome your challenge.

b)  You serve a God who has all power, He rules over all people, He has been ruling throughout all time, and His Kingdom has no end!

c)  You serve a God who was, and is, and ever shall be!

d)  You serve a God who is the God of your past, present and future; the God of your yesterday, today and tomorrow; the God of your already, your right now and your not yet!  He did not bring you this far to fail you now!

e)  Meditate on God, His power, His awesomeness and His grace.  The bigger you see your God, the smaller you will see your challenge!

Closing Confession:   Father, I thank You for teaching me about Your grace and my requirement to live by faith.  Studying Your grace is changing my life.  When I focused primarily on faith I was focusing on me, my performance, and my strength.  But now that I am shifting my focus to grace I am able to focus more on You, Your dedication to me, and Your limitless power.  There is nothing You can’t do, no problem You can’t handle, no battle You can’t win, and no adversary You can’t overtake.  Your Kingdom will never be destroyed.  Your rule has no end.  Your power has no limits.  Your love has no borders.  Your grace has no stipulations.  So I take the focus OFF of me and I put it squarely on You, Your unearned grace, and Your inexhaustible power.  I enter this day focused on the awesomeness of my God and this focus makes my challenges look miniscule.  Thank You Father for helping me to take the pressure OFF of me.  I shall overcome what I am facing.  Not because I am so good, but because You are.  Only because of Your grace!  I declare this by faith.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.

This is Today’s Word!  Apply it and Prosper.
