Jesus’ Key To Success Was Submission

by Rick

(Read Matthew 10:1-10)

This morning we continue our series, “Grace that is Simply Amazing” by continuing our mini-series entitled, “Grace Based Success (Prosperity)”.  For the past couple of days the messages centered around the thought that YOU CAN’T DO what God has called you to do, and He does not expect you to.  The Father wants to work through you and He will always call you to do things that exceed your abilities.

In today’s message I want to look at a few verses that prove Jesus lived the same way.  Jesus is our perfect example.  Jesus never relied on His humanity.  He completely relied on divinity, on the Father, and so should we.

So what does this mean to you today?  Let’s get into it.

1.  Jesus acknowledged the limitations of humanity.  Jesus said, “I assure you that the Son can do nothing alone.  He does only what he sees his Father doing.  The Son does the same things that the Father does.” (John 5:19).

a)  Jesus did not say He did not want to do anything without the Father.  He did not say it was His choice.  No, Jesus made it clear that he could not do anything without the Father.  If Jesus could not do a thing without God, then how could you think you can?

b)  Jesus did not operate in His humanity without hearing from and submitting to divinity.

c)  Jesus had a yielded heart and the Father was able to flow through Him freely because of His submission.

d)  What Jesus said and what He did originated with the Father.  This is the way we are supposed to live today.  We can live on earth, receiving our instructions and directions from heaven, and if we do, we get  to live an amazing life – the life the Father planned for us before the world began!

2.  Jesus was not selfish or self-centered.  Jesus said, “I came down from heaven to do what God wants, not what I want.” (John 6:38).

a)  Your life is not about you, your selfish desires, or any self-motivated mission.

b)  You are on this planet for a divine assignment.  You are not here to perform your own will, but rather the will of the Father who sent you.

c)  You are not here to suck-in and blow-out air, and to seek every sort of human pleasure.  You are here for a purpose and your goal in life should be to FIND, FOLLOW and FINISH that purpose before your die.  Not by your power, but by God’s grace.

3.  Jesus lived His life as a human conduit of the divine.  Jesus said, “Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me?  The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority.  Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.” (John 14:10 NIV)

a)  Like Jesus, the Father lives in you.  He is IN you and you are IN Him.  You are in the Kingdom and the Kingdom is in you!

b)  Like Jesus, the Father will give you the words.  You provide the mouth and the Father will fill it.  You provide the voice and the Father will provide the content.  And when God’s words flow through your lips, you will experience the supernatural because His words will also come with His authority.  God will backup what He says through you.

c)  Like Jesus, the Father will do the work through you.  Jesus provided the body, He provided the willingness, and God did the rest.  The Father provided the words and the work.

d)  You provide the body and the willingness, God will provide the words and He will do the work.  Not because you are worthy, but because of His grace!

Closing Confession:   Father, I thank You for teaching me about Your grace and my requirement to live by faith.  The more I study Your grace, the more I am able to release the pressure to perform.  The spotlight of my life is no longer on me.  The focus of my life is no longer about me.  I am not here on a self-seeking mission.  I no longer live a self-centered life.  My life is not my own.  You sent me here for a reason.  You planned my arrival and my assignment.  You set up my success.  You already have everything I need to succeed prepared for me.  Now all I must do is yield to You.  I submit with my whole heart.  You give me the words.  You perform the work.  I am simply a conduit of Your glory, an emissary of Your love, and an instrument of Your purpose.  I head into this day and every day fully submitted to You.  I open my mouth and You fill it.  I give You my hands and You use them.  You provide the words.  You do the work.  Your power has come TO me, and it now flows THROUGH me!  My life is ALL ABOUT YOU!  I declare this by faith.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.

This is Today’s Word!  Apply it and Prosper.
