The God Who Knows All Things!

by Rick

This morning we continue our series entitled, “Refined Focus”, with an emphasis on “Focusing on God’s Finished Work”.  A little over a week ago I shared five scriptures with you and I told you that we would take a deeper look at each one.  One of those was Psalm 139:16 where David said, “Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you, The days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day.”  To get a better understanding of what David was saying in this statement, we need to take a look at what else he said in the psalm.  Here are a few verses:

Verses 1-4

Lord, you have tested me, so you know all about me.  You know when I sit down and when I get up.  You know my thoughts from far away.  You know where I go and where I lie down.  You know everything I do.  Lord, you know what I want to say, even before the words leave my mouth.”

Verse 6

I am amazed at what you know; it is too much for me to understand.”

Verses 8-10

If I go up to heaven, you will be there.  If I go down to hell, you will be there.  If I go east where the sun rises or go to live in the west beyond the sea, even there you will take my hand and lead me.  Your strong right hand will protect me.”

Verse 13

You formed the way I think and feel.  You put me together in my mother’s womb.”

Verse 15

You could see my bones grow as my body took shape, hidden in my mother’s womb.”

And now we get back to verse 16

Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you, The days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day.”

So what does this mean to you today?  A few things.

1.  God knows everything about you and everything else.

a)  God knows your thoughts before you think them, your words before you speak them, and your actions before you take them.

b)  There is nothing God does not know — about you, about anyone, about or about anything, period!

c)  It’s sometimes hard for humans to wrap our minds around the fact that God knows everything.

2.  God is everywhere.

a)  I cannot give you a grid-coordinate that can identify where God is, because there is not grid-coordinate where He is not.

b)  God is with you as you read this email, He is waiting on you where you are going, and He will be with you as go… all at the same time.

3.  The God who knows all things designed you.

a)  You are unique and special.  No one else on this planet can be YOU, so you might as well be YOU!

b)  Your parents may have given birth to you, but they cannot defined you.  The only one who can define you is the one who designed you [God] within your mother’s womb!

This is enough for today.  I will continue to flow in this vein tomorrow.

Closing Confession:  Father, this is a season of refined focus for me.  I bring my life into focus in 2016.  I am no longer the captain of my own ship.  I no longer chart the course for my own life.  I realize that You charted the perfect course for me before I was born.  You know all things and You already mapped out my success.  So I die to me, to relying on my strength, and to the limits of human ability.  As a result, I get to tap into You, Your strength, Your unsearchable knowledge, and Your immeasurable power.  Living this way, I become the man/woman You birthed me to be, and I get to experience You as You change the world through me.  I enter this day to experience Your best, because I am committed to resting in Your Finished Work!  I declare this by faith.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.

This is Today’s Word!  Apply it and Prosper.
