You Need Divine Wisdom

You NEED Divine Wisdom

(Prov 24:13,14 GNB)  My child, eat honey; it is good.  And just as honey from the comb is sweet on your tongue, you may be sure that wisdom is good for the soul.  Get wisdom and you have a bright future.

This morning we continue our series, “Unlocking the Power of Proverbs – Walking in the Wisdom of God.”  This is the 26th Saying: an Admonition on the Delight of Wisdom.  Here Solomon makes a connection between the sweetness of honey and that of divine wisdom.  Just like honey is sweet on the tongue for our natural-man, the wisdom of God should be equally (or even more) sweet to our spirit-man.  As believers, if we don’t have it already, we should ask the Father to help us develop a hunger, thirst, desire, and taste for supernatural wisdom.  This reminds me of a verse I read when I first gave my life to Christ.  It was written by Peter and he said: “Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation” (1 Peter 2:2).  I knew I was a baby-Christian and I knew I wanted to grow.  Just like a natural baby craves natural milk, a spiritual baby (which were all were at some point – and some still are) must crave spiritual milk in order to grow and develop spiritually.  The King James Version of Peter’s verse calls it “the sincere milk of the Word.”  The Word of God is clearly a source of divine wisdom and we should crave, but it is not the only source.  The Father has imparted His wisdom in my life primarily through three means:

1.  The Word:  As Peter pointed out, the Word of God is definitely a source of the Wisdom of God.  God’s Word is God’s wisdom documented.  We have 66 books full of divine insight, wisdom, and revelation, so that we can grow in divine knowledge and develop spiritual understanding.  The more you know the Word, the more you know God, His character, attributes, and nature; and the more you understand how He operates and how He expects you to operate in the earth.  The more Word you get IN you, the more apt you will be to live it!

2.  The Holy Spirit:  As His sheep we are supposed to hear His voice (John 10:27) and part of the Holy Spirit’s role is to guide us into all truth (John 16:13).  The Holy Spirit can give us divine revelation and one Word of divine revelation can give us insight that years of education and the accumulation of information could never have.  So spend time with the Holy Spirit.  Spend quiet time with Him and have a pen and paper handy, in order to jot down what He tells you.  If you come with expectation to hear, you will, and what you hear can change you forever!

3.  Others:  The Father does not expect us any of to be lone-rangers.  None of us is as smart as all of us.  The Father has anointed certain people to speak into our lives.  God can send someone to speak a Word into your life today that can be just as powerful as the words spoken through Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, or any of the prophets of old.  When you sense that God is speaking to you through someone else, don’t focus on the vessel – because that might lead you to discredit or disqualify what God is saying – simply receive it as the Word of the Lord and seek to obey it just like it were written within the books of the Bible.  God will speak to you through others, because sometimes that is the only way you will listen.  So be willing to hear, open to receive, and quick to obey what He tells you through others.

So what does this mean to you today? It simply means that when you receive divine wisdom – through the Word, the Holy Spirit, or others – it will give you the advantage you need to create the bright future Solomon talks about in this passage.  Without divine wisdom you are living your life on human effort alone and you will never perform God’s will without His insight!

Closing Confession:  Father, not only do I acknowledge the fact that I need Your wisdom in my life, but I also know that I need a hunger and a thirst for it.  Just like honey is sweet to my lips naturally, Your wisdom is sweet to my soul spiritually.  By faith I declare that I hunger, thirst, crave for, and chase after Your wisdom daily.  I refuse to live my life equipped with human wisdom and effort alone.  I know that revelation can take me where information never could.  Therefore, I ask You to impart Your wisdom into me daily.  I scour Your Word, seeking the hidden nuggets therein, and I apply Your truth to my life daily.  I listen to the Holy Spirit and I have an ear to hear what He says to me.  I am also open to receive from others.  Send people my way that are anointed to speak into my life and give me the discernment to know who they are.  As I do these things I shall be equipped to maximize my purpose and potential in life.  I have a bright future because I operate in Your wisdom!  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.

This is Today’s Word!  Apply it and Prosper!
