The Year of Laser Focus (Part 2): Living with Purpose: Embracing God’s Eternal Plan for You

by Rick

Today, I continue our new series entitled “Laser Focus,” with the point being that we should live with a laser focus on the fixed purpose God established for us before the world began.

God’s purpose for your life is set and established. God set it before you were born. What you must do, as a child of God, is FIND, FOLLOW, and ultimately FINISH that purpose before you die. The messages I provide you this year will flow in this vein. Once scripture we will meditate on all year is the following:

(Proverbs 4:25 TPT)

Set your gaze on the path before you. With fixed purpose, looking straight ahead, ignore life’s distractions.

I told you that in addition to Proverbs 4:25, I would give you 20 scriptures that drive home the importance of laser focus, which will also help lay a solid foundation for this year. Yesterday, I shared the first five scriptures. We will look at five more today.

So, what does this mean to you today?   A few things.

1. Grace, not just effort, defines my calling.

(Galatians 1:15 ERV)

But God had special plans for me even before I was born. So, He chose me through His grace.

– Understand that your calling is by grace, not by your own efforts.

– God called you by grace (unearned favor) before you were even born, so it could be based on what you did (your performance).

– God did not just call you by grace, but He also gave you the grace (divine empowerment) to do what He called you to do.

– The more you meditate and medicate on the grace of God, the more focused you will be on doing what you believe He called you to do, without getting sidetracked by selfish desires or stifled by your weaknesses or limitations.

2. God’s eternal plan is my guide.

(Isaiah 46: 10,11 ERV)

10 “In the beginning, I told you what would happen in the end. A long time ago, I told you things that have not happened yet. When I plan something, it happens. I do whatever I want to do.

11 I am calling a man from the east to do what I want. He will come like an eagle from a faraway country. He will do all that I have planned. Everything I said will happen just as I said it would.

– You should spend time meditating on the fact that your life is part of God’s eternal, unchanging plan.

– When you recognize the enormity of God’s plans (knowing that He knows the end from the beginning), it brings you peace and comfort because even when you don’t know what you are doing, you know God knows what He is doing.

– Find direction and focus in the knowledge that, ultimately, God’s plans and purposes will prevail.

– Use this understanding to stay aligned with God’s will and avoid distractions.

3. It’s all going to work out for your good in the end!

(Romans 8:28-30 ERV)

28 We know that in everything God works for the good of those who love him. These are the people God chose, because that was his plan.

29 God knew them before he made the world. And he decided that they would be like his Son. Then Jesus would be the firstborn of many brothers and sisters.

30 God planned for them to be like his Son. He chose them and made them right with him. And after he made them right, he gave them his glory.

– Predestination in Christ means that as you walk with God and are led by His Spirit, you are walking down a path that leads to a glorious destiny.

– God never promised it would be easy, but this passage reassures us that all things (good or seemingly not-so-good) will ultimately work out for our good and God’s glory!

– Embrace the truth that you are predestined to reflect Christ’s glory on this planet. If you enter every day with this mindset, it will help you remain laser-focused, avoiding distractions.

– When Jesus was on the planet, He was the only begotten of the Father. But since He died, He became a seed that produced a harvest. We are part of that harvest. Now, we are the many brothers and sisters of Jesus. As Jesus is, so are we in this world (1 Jn 4:17).

4. God’s plans for me are unchanging.

(Psalm 33:11 NIV)

But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.

– We live in a world that is ever-changing. But you can find peace and strength in knowing that God’s plans for you remain steadfast and unmovable.

– This unchanging plan is a source of stability and confidence in an ever-changing world.

– Find confidence in meditating on the steadfast nature of God’s plans, knowing He is certain about you, even when you are uncertain about your present or future.

– God’s plans endure from generation to generation. God spoke to your grandmother about you and will also speak to you about your grandchildren. Learning to trust in God’s plans will keep you focused and unwavering in your purpose.

5. You are a key part of God’s plan for THIS ERA!

(1 Peter 1:18-20 NLT)

18 For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value.

19 It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.

20 God chose him as your ransom long before the world began, but now in these last days he has been revealed for your sake.

– The Bible teaches us that the Lamb of God was slain from the foundations of the world (Rev 13:8). This means that God knew, before the world began, that He would have to send His Son Jesus to die for our sin.

– While God knew, God did not send Jesus to this planet until it was the right time. He was a ransom, chosen before the world began, but then deployed to this planet at just the right time.

– In the same way, you are part of God’s plan for this time. God made plans for you before the world began, but He did not deploy you to this planet until the time was right.

– You are part of God’s plan for this era. Living out this revelation is both a privilege and a responsibility.

Declaration of Faith:

Father, this year, I live with a laser focus on the fixed purpose You established for me before the world began.

I trust in Your unchanging plans for me, knowing they bring stability and hope.

I embrace the grace You have bestowed upon me. You called me by grace and gave me the grace to fulfill my calling.

I believe that every step of my journey contributes to Your greater plan. All things will work together for my good and glory!

As Your child, Father, I commit to living a life that reflects Your glory and fulfills the role You have set for me in this era.

I am confident in Your eternal plan, Father, and will remain focused on the path You have laid before me.

Your steadfast love and unshakable promises are the foundation upon which I build my life and faith.

GREATER IS COMING for me because I am living the life You planned before the world began!

I declare this by faith. In Jesus’ name. AMEN!

This is Today’s Word. Apply it and prosper!
