The Miracles of Jesus Pt. 18: Raising Jairus’ Daughter From The Dead Pt. 2 | According To Your Faith

by Rick

This morning, we continue our series, “The Miracles of Jesus.”

Before we get into the miracle, let’s look at the foundational scripture I will share be sharing with you all year.

(Psalm 126:4 TPT)

Now, Lord, do it again! Restore us to our former glory! May streams of your refreshing flow over us until our dry hearts are drenched again.

This is a season of refreshing and restoring for us.  I pray you get refreshed and restored as we study each miracle.

Read Mark 5:21-43

Yesterday, I introduced you to the story of Jairus and his daughter. Today we continue the story.

When we left off, Jairus had made a declaration of faith, asking Jesus to go to his home and lay hands on his daughter, who was at the point of death.  Jesus agreed with Jairus’ statement and his faith. With that, Jesus, His disciples, Jairus, and the crowd all started walking towards Jairus’ home.

As they went, someone in the crowd “touched” Jesus. While countless people were touching Jesus, there was a woman who “touched” Him with more than her hand. There was a woman who touched Jesus with her faith.  Jesus actually felt divine power leave His body because of the touch. I will discuss this woman’s situation in detail later in the series. For today, all I will say is that the woman slowed Jesus down. Jesus stopped to have a conversation with her, and by the end of the conversation, someone came from Jairus’ home with bad news. They said to Jairus, “Your daughter is dead. Don’t bother the teacher anymore.”

When Jairus received news that his daughter was dead, it was a critical point in the story and his life. Jairus had boldly declared, in front of everyone at the seashore, that if Jesus went to his home and laid hands on his daughter, she would “recover and live.” Guess what?  Jesus still had the power to make Jairus’ confession come to pass. The situation worsened before it got better, but Jesus was still able. The question is: did Jairus still have faith?  Could Jairus still believe in God, even in the middle of a dead situation?  The person who came with the bad news told Jairus not to bother Jesus anymore. So, would Jairus dismiss Jesus, and in-so-doing, dismiss his daughter’s only chance for life?  Or would he continue marching toward his home with the Son of God?

Jesus knew what was going on in Jairus’ heart and mind. Jesus knew he was struggling with maintaining his faith in the middle of a deadly situation. So, before Jairus could say anything negative, Jesus said, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”

Jairus’ daughter was dead, but just as long as his faith was not dead along with her, Jesus could do what He was on track to do. If Jarius told Jesus to leave, Jesus would oblige. If Jairus continued with the mission, Jesus would go with him. Thankfully, Jairus heeded Jesus’ plea.  Jairus continued to believe in God, even though his daughter was now physically dead, and the team continued toward his home.

There is more to the story, but I will stop here in the story for now.

I wrote about this situation in the introductory chapter of “150 Declarations of Faith for Men” and “150 Declarations of Faith for Women.” Here is an excerpt:

“Jesus had the power to heal Jairus’ daughter from the seashore. He did not have to go to Jairus’ house. But that’s NOT what Jairus said. Jairus’ confession was, “Sir, I need you to come to my house, lay hands on my daughter. And if you come to my house and lay hands on my daughter, she shall recover and she shall live.”

If you remember the story of the Centurion and the Centurion’s servant, you will see my point. Jesus was so used to being pulled by people to go here and there that when the Roman Centurion approached Jesus about his servant being sick, Jesus was ready to go to the Centurion’s house to heal him. But the Roman Centurion surprised Jesus. He said, “No! I don’t need you to go. I just need you to say!” He was saying, “Mr. Jesus, I believe your words have authority over sickness. So I need you to speak those words. I don’t have authority over sickness because if I did, I would speak at myself. But since You do, Mr. Jesus, if you speak the word only my servant will be healed.”

The Roman Centurion believed in the power of words. Jesus was amazed at his faith. Jesus said, “Go! Your servant is healed.” Jesus spoke healing, and the man’s servant was healed from that very moment.

Let’s go back to Jairus. Jesus could have spoken healing from the seashore, but that’s not what Jairus said. See, Jesus will meet you at your level of faith. God will deal with you according to your own confession. You are constantly speaking what you believe in your heart, and God ministers to you based on what you believe and speak.

Since this man said, “Sir, I need you to come to my house and lay hands on my daughter. Then she shall recover. Then she shall live,” Jesus had to minister to him according to his own confession. So Jesus says, “Okay, let’s go.” Jesus left with Jairus, and they started walking to his house. The crowd followed (because church folk are nosey).

As they were going, someone else came into the picture. This time it was a woman who had her own declaration of faith. She had been bleeding for 12 long years. She had spent all her money on doctors. She did not get any better. She got worse. But since God will deal with you based on your declaration of faith, what she was SAYING is important.

This woman kept saying, “If I can just touch Jesus’ garments, I shall be made whole!” That was her confession. That’s what she was saying. She was speaking words of faith from a believing heart. There were other people who were touching Jesus. But they didn’t have the same confession as this woman. So they were touching Him, and nothing was happening. This woman came and touched Jesus. As soon as she did, the power of God left Jesus’s body and healed her. JUST LIKE SHE SAID!

She had been bleeding for 12 years, and she was healed immediately. Why? Because that’s what she said! She believed; therefore, she spoke! She spoke what she believed. She kept saying, if I touch him, I shall be made whole, she touched him, and she was made whole. Jesus then has a conversation with the woman. While they spoke, Jairus’ daughter died. Someone came up to Jairus and said, “Your daughter is dead. Don’t bother Jesus anymore.” Basically, the person was saying, “You can tell Jesus to stop. He does not need to come anymore.”

Now, what I’m about to say is critical.

What caused Jesus to start moving in the direction of this home? It was Jairus’ words. Jairus spoke words of faith, and his words got Jesus to move. He said, “Mr. Jesus, my daughter is dying. She is at the point of death. If you come to my house, you lay hands on her, she shall recover. And she shall live.” That was his confession. He spoke what he believed, and the confession was still good. Jesus was still going off of that confession. However, if Jairus said something else, something AGAINST what He had already spoken, then it could cause Jesus to STOP!

What caused Jesus to move toward the house? Jairus’ words. Would could cause Jesus to stop? Jairus words! If Jairus said to Jesus, “Do not come,” then Jesus would have to stop because God will never force Himself on you. If you tell God, “Don’t do it,” or “It’s over,” then God won’t do it because God will never overrule your own will.

So at that moment, when fear overtook Jairus’ heart, there was a danger for Jairus to speak OUT OF FEAR. Thankfully, BEFORE Jairus spoke in fear, Jesus said, “Be not afraid. Just keep on believing!” Basically, Jesus was saying, listen, Jairus, if you can’t speak faith, don’t say anything. I would rather you keep your mouth shut than speak a negative word. Don’t you ever speak a negative word that will CANCEL OUT what you already spoke in faith!”

So what does this mean to you today?  I have already given you a lot, so here are a few quick things:

1.  In the natural world, you move things with your hands. In the spirit realm, you move things with your faith, and faith is voice-activated.

— There are things that God has stored up for you by grace, and He requires you to lay hold of them by faith.

— Faith is something you say or do, based on what you believe to be God’s will. In other words, faith is something you say or do, based on the revelation God gave you about your future.

— Jairus knew his daughter was dying, but he also believed that if Jesus went to his house and laid hands on his daughter, she would recover, and she would live). Jairus believed that the entire thing about Jesus going to his house and laying hands on his daughter came from God. This was the will of God. So he spoke it in faith. Jesus responded. Jesus and Jairus were going to perform what God had revealed.

— If you can receive a divine impulse from God, like Jairus did that day, believing that God’s will is different from your current circumstance, you must also continue to believe while you are on the path to receiving what God said. If, while you are on your way, the circumstances change, then you cannot be moved by what you see. You can only be moved by what God said (or revealed). If you truly believe God revealed it, then you have to believe that God already knew the situation would get worse before it got better. And since God is not a man, and He cannot lie, what He said is still good.

— You must say what God said until you see what God said, and you must never allow what you see to cause you to change what you said!

2.  God will deal with you according to your faith, or lack thereof.

— God will never force His will on you. If you speak words of faith from a believing heart, expressing confidence in what God revealed, then you are coming in agreement with God, and you will experience heaven on earth. However, if you change your declaration of faith because of something that happened, and you cross over from faith to fear, and you are no longer in agreement with God, then God will step back, and you will miss out on God’s best.

— God will allow whatever you allow. God will permit whatever you permit.

— Faith must be an act of your will. If God forced His will on you, then you would be a human puppet, and God would be some sort of divine puppet master. But that is not the case. God wants His involvement in your life to be an act of your will.

— Jairus’ words of faith caused Jesus to start heading toward his home. If Jairus had spoken words of doubt, fear, or unbelief, those words could have caused Jesus to stop.

I have given you enough to process today. We will continue with this story tomorrow. Here are my closing thoughts:

— God will deal with you according to your faith.

— God’s will for you is set. It was set before the foundations of the world.

— The Holy Spirit will reveal things to you that are God’s will. Like He did with Jairus. Where do you think Jairus got the vision of Jesus going to his house, laying hands on his daughter, and causing her to live? That came from the Holy Spirit. But Jairus had to have the faith to believe it, declare it, and continue with it, even after his daughter died.

— We serve a God who gives LIFE to DEAD stuff. So no matter how dead your situation seems, there is nothing too hard for God.

— If you have the faith to believe what God has already released grace for you to experience, then you will walk in God’s best. If you don’t, you will get to heaven, only to realize you missed out on things God wanted for you because of a lack of faith.

— You are the just, my friend, and you are called to live by faith. God has provided the grace. Now you must provide the faith!

Declaration of Faith:

Father, this is a season of refreshing and restoring for me!

As I study the miracles of Jesus, my faith is increased!

I spend time in Your presence. In Your presence, You reveal to me Your will. I then openly and boldly declare what I see!

I speak words of faith from a believing heart, and I refuse to allow what I see to change what I say!

I know living faith can overcome dead situations. So I walk by faith and not by sight!

I am not moved when a situation gets worse before it gets better. I am only moved by You and Your Word.

Be it unto me, Father, according to Your will and my faith!

Living this way, I know this year shall be the BEST YEAR of my life! GREATER IS COMING FOR ME! I declare this by faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

This is Today’s Word. Apply it and prosper!
