You must make time for rest. -- Rest is spiritua You must make time for rest.

-- Rest is spiritual. I personally know great men of God who have had periods in their lives where they wanted to give up on ministry, leave the church, quit their assignment, or even go so far as to kill themselves, all because they were burned-out. These are men who love God, who are thankfully still with us and still doing ministry, but they go to the point where they were so tired that they wanted to give up on God and give upon LIFE!

-- Many believers have fallen prey to depression due to a lack of sufficient rest.

-- Pastors are quitting churches and possibly derailing themselves from their destiny, all because they did not slow down long enough to work on their own mental health and spiritual well-being.

-- Like I said yesterday, it’s dangerous to pour your life out for others, over and over again, without taking the time to be refilled, rejuvenated, and revived yourself. You cannot give what you do not have. So if you don’t take time to get FILLED in God’s presence, you won’t be of any use to others because you are of no use to yourself.

-- Your first ministry to your family. For you to minister to your family, you have to be healthy yourself first. So please make time to get sufficient rest.

-- We were not designed to live without rest. David got tired of living on the run. He got tired of Saul and his attacks. And when you are tired -- mentally, physically, psychologically -- you make mistakes. David made one of the worst decisions in his life, simply because he was tired. Please don’t let this happen to you. Get rest, make time for self-care, and ensure you are in a position to BE a blessing to others.

Declaration of Faith to Get Sufficient Rest

Father, I thank You for blessing me to understand the importance of sufficient rest. I make time for a Sabbath rest every week. I know I need time to rest, and I make sure I get it. I don’t want my life to be “full of other things.” I want my life to be full of You. So I make time to spend time with You. I give myself license to release myself from email, text messages, and my to-do list, long enough to sit, rest, meditate and listen in Your presence. As I do, I declare that You speak, I hear, and I receive the insight, wisdom, knowledge, revelation, and the understanding I need to become the person You sent me to this planet to be. I come out of my time of rest rejuvenated, restored, revived, and ready to face another day or another week. By getting sufficient rest, I resist burnout. I never allow myself to get to the point where I am not healthy enough to make sound decisions. My decisions are sound because they are bathed in prayer, based on Your Word, aligned with Your purpose for my life, and congruent with the leading of Your Spirit. Living this way, I level up in 2021! GREATER IS COMING FOR ME! I declare this by faith, in Jesus’s name. Amen!

When you don’t get rest, you run the risk of los When you don’t get rest, you run the risk of losing your mental health because of physical and mental burnout.

a) As I make this point, I want to highlight those of us who are in ministry. When God calls you to minister to others, you are constantly pouring your life OUT into the lives of other people. While pouring-out your life as a sacrifice for others is the will of God, it is also the will of God that YOU spend time in God’s presence to get FILLED back up again. Elijah said it would not rain until he said it would rain. It did not rain for 42 months. Elijah called down fire from heaven. God answered by fire. Elijah prayed for the rain to come. God sent the rain. Elijah was an amazing man of God. But after that all of that, after he dedicated his life to God and His people over and over again, Elijah found himself under a bush, wanting to die. He even asked God to take his life. Why? Because he was tired. He was simply burned out. Don’t let this happen to you!

b) People debate the actual numbers, but a certain percentage of Pastors in the United States battle depression. Many have quit the ministry and left their churches. Some have sadly taken their lives. When Elijah was depressed, God used sleep, rest, and a few good meals to restore him. Sometimes that is all we need.

c) Isabella and I run hard for God. We are busier now than we were before we retired from the Army. We do what we do because we believe we are called to it. But being CALLED by God to something DOES NOT mean you don’t need rest. It does NOT mean you don’t need breaks. Sometimes all you need is a few days, or even a few hours, away from your daily routine, so the Lord can restore you.
Rest is spiritual. a) When Elijah was burned ou Rest is spiritual.

a) When Elijah was burned out, and he wanted to die, look at what God did to restore him. Before God ministered to him in what we would consider to be a “spiritual” way, God had Elijah get some sleep. When he woke up, God provided him food. God then sent him to sleep again. When he woke up, God gave him food again. After getting good sleep, rest, and food, Elijah was in a position to hear from God again, and he was restored. Please do not underestimate the power of sleep and rest.

b) You were not designed to go, and go, and go, without rest. God built in a requirement for a Sabbath rest because He knows that we, as humans, need it.

c) WHen you don’t get rest, you open yourself up to satan. One minute Elijah was fearless. The next, he was running like a scared coward, wanting to die, all because he needed rest. Please learn from Elijah and get sufficient rest!

Declaration of Faith to Get Sufficient Rest

Father, this is a season of LEVELING UP for me. I thank You for calling me to my divine purpose. I am dedicated to it. I will arrive at Your overall expected end of my life. I will complete my assignment before I die. I pour out my life as an offering to You and Your people. And Father, I will not get burned-out. I fast and pray. I get sleep and rest. I spend time in Your presence. I take necessary breaks. I cast my cares upon You. I allow myself the time to get restored, renewed, revived, and regenerated by You. Fear, doubt, and unbelief have no power over me. I will never give up. I refuse to cave in. I shall not quit! GREATER IS COMING FOR ME! I declare this by faith, in Jesus’s name. Amen!

If your life is externally driven (and not interna If your life is externally driven (and not internally fueled), the devil will be able to manipulate you easily because he is able to manipulate and orchestrate external conditionals through the people who are easily influenced by his impulses. Those people are all around you. The devil can pull strings through your employer or your employees; he can do it through your boss or co-workers; he can work through your community and the economy. So, if your internal peace is contingent upon external conditions, you are completely susceptible to satan. Satan is a master manipulator, and he will pull strings, only to watch you react time and time again.

The good news is that you can have JOY and PEACE in believing. God’s JOY is not contingent upon happiness or happenings. God’s peace does not rely on external serenity to be in operation. You can be in the middle of a storm and still REJOICE! You can be in the middle of chaos and have divine PEACE!

Declaration of Faith for Supernatural Joy and Peace

Father, I declare that Your joy is my strength, and Your peace is the fuel that drives my soul. I thank You for the times I can be happy, but I am not limited to mere happiness. I have Your Spirit in me, and I tap into the power of Your Joy continually. I rejoice in You always. Your joy bubbles over in my soul to the point where I am not moved by external circumstances or conditions. Your peace is pulling guard duty around my heart and my mind. Therefore, I am not moved by what I see. I believe and speak the Word only! And I refuse to allow what I see (with my natural eyes) to change what I say (by faith) or what I expect from You. I have joy and peace in believing! I abound in hope by the power of Your Holy Spirit! Living this way, I LEVEL UP my life in 2021! GREATER IS COMING FOR ME! I declare this by faith, in Jesus’s name. Amen!

Faith vs. Senses. This morning I will focus on th Faith vs. Senses.

This morning I will focus on the words “in believing” from Romans 15:13. Paul prayed that God would fill them (and us) with joy and peace “in believing.” What does this mean? What does it mean to be in what I call the “believing phase” of a breakthrough?

Webster says that the word “believe” means: to accept as true, genuine, or real. I add something to it. I say that the word “believe” means: to accept as true, genuine, or real, without the validation of sense-realm-evidence. This means that when you believe God, you are accepting something as a reality, although you cannot verify it with your five senses. So you cannot see it, touch it, taste it, smell it, or hear it. But you still believe it. Further, if you are truly in-faith, you actually accept it as true, without any sense-realm evidence to support what you believe.

I will attempt to explain. I don’t have to believe that I own a computer to send out Today’s Word. I can see it right in front of me right now, and I can touch it with my hands. Once I can verify something with my senses (as a human), I go from believing to knowing. I simply know I have it, and I am no longer required to believe.

Taking it to another level, faith comes by hearing (and receiving) the Word of God (Rom 10:17). When I receive a Word from God about what I am believing, it helps me to graduate from the belief stage to the faith stage. Faith adds substance to my hope; it adds power to my belief (Heb 11:1). Since I have a Word from God, and I know God cannot lie, I believe it is already done in heaven, and it is only a matter of time before “it” manifests in the earth. I then live with an active expectation to receive what God said, knowing that for Him, it’s already done, even though I have no sense-realm evidence to support what I believe. This is the life of faith, and it is how we are supposed to live.

Declaration of Faith to Not Be Moved By What You See!

Father, I walk by faith and not by sight. I thank You for what I can see, but I am not limited to mere sight. I can see beyond where my eyes can look. I can see with my spirit through the lens of faith. I can see beyond human limitation. I can see beyond a report of man. I then believe what You enable me to see, and since I can see and believe the invisible, I know You can perform the impossible in my life. I am a believer, I walk by faith, and I have Joy and Peace In Believing! I LEVEL UP my life in 2021! GREATER IS COMING FOR ME! I declare this by faith, in Jesus’s name. Amen!

God’s hope can cause you to hope against hope! God’s hope can cause you to hope against hope! In this same letter, Paul talked about Abraham and his ability to abound in hope, even when his circumstances were screaming for him to give up. “In hope against hope he believed, so that he might become a father of many nations according to that which had been spoken, “So shall your seed be.” Without becoming weak in faith he contemplated his own body, now as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarah’s womb; yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able also to perform.” (Romans 4:18-21). Not only was Abraham’s body seemingly dead, but so was Sarah’s womb. His equipment and what he was working with were both seemingly dead, his situation seemed hopeless, but he still believed. Guess what? He received!

The Holy Spirit can enable you to abound in hope, even when the world would say that your situation is dead. Many have told me that my situation is dead and that I should just concede to the fact that it is over. But I, like Abraham, believe in a God that can give life to dead situations, hoping against hope! Can you?

#DivineHope
#HopeAgainstHope

(Rom 15:13 NASB) Now may the God of hope fill you (Rom 15:13 NASB)
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

The definition for hope is: “The feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best; to look forward to with desire and reasonable confidence; to believe, desire, or trust; to feel that something desired may happen.” Hope is powerful. Hope is necessary. Hope is required for the believer. Now, you may be thinking, “But Rick, I thought faith is what is required or the believer, not hope.” Yes, but the reality is that if you lose your hope you will never get to faith. Faith adds substance to what you hope for (Heb 11:1). Faith puts the meat on the bones of hope. If you lose your hope you have forfeited your opportunity to exercise faith. I love the fact that Paul called God “the God of hope.” He is that indeed. God wants you to believe! He wants you to expect that He will do what He said He would do; He wants you to look forward with desire and reasonable confidence. He wants you to dream big dreams and to watch Him help you to bring them to pass!

Our God is a God of hope. As we talk about this, I pray God resurrects dead dreams, aborted ideas, and prematurely-terminated plans. My prayer is that God rekindles the flame of your hope, that your hope would be strong, that you bubble over with overwhelming joy, and that you would be stable with His settling peace.

Declaration of Faith to receive God’s JOY and PEACE!

Father, I declare that by Your power, I am able to hope against hope. It does not matter how dead my situation may seem to others; I believe in a God that can give lives to dead stuff! I can hope against hope, and I abound in hope today and every day. I have great expectations. I have joy and peace in believing. I abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. And once You speak, I believe and receive what You say. Faith adds substance to my hope, and I will stand on your Word until I receive, in my hands, what You have declared, in my heart! I LEVEL UP my life in 2021! GREATER IS COMING FOR ME! I declare this by faith, in Jesus’s name. Amen!

While God can manifest a promise immediately, most While God can manifest a promise immediately, most of the time He does not. This causes a space between the promise and the performance. This space, the space between God saying it and you receiving it, between your confession and the completion, between “amen” and “there it is” it is very critical space. What you do while you wait can determine how long you wait and more importantly, whether or not your prayer will ever come to pass. In 2021, let’s seek to level up HOW we wait on God.

Perfect Peace (Isaiah 26:3 KJV) Thou wilt keep hi Perfect Peace

(Isaiah 26:3 KJV)
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

The Prophet Isaiah teaches us that there is a “perfect peace” available to God’s children. The original Hebrew text actually reads, “peace peace.” It’s a double peace; a supernatural peace, a divine peace. But this peace is reserved for a certain group of believers. Isaiah tells us that this group of believers can keep their minds stayed/focused on God. I have already taught on the types of attacks satan wages upon the battleground of our minds. Satan wants to distract, derail and ultimately destroy us, and his attacks start in our minds. However, the person Isaiah describes is one who is able to withstand the attacks from satan and remain focused on God. This person resists every distraction. This person is not easily negatively persuaded or dissuaded. This person is focused.

While it is clear that some believers can focus on God despite a constant barrage of attempted distractions from satan, this morning, I ask the question, “Why?” What empowers him/her to focus with such persistence? What keeps their minds stayed on God? I believe the answer is found in the latter part of Isaiah's statement. Isaiah makes the connection between focus and trust. Isaiah said, “Because he trusteth in thee.”

God has a part, and you have a part:

-- Isaiah said, “God will keep you in perfect peace, if you keep your mind stayed/fixed on Him.” Do you see the two parts? If you want God to keep you in perfect peace (double peace), YOU have to keep YOUR mind fixed and focused on Him.

-- It’s your mind. You can tell it what to think. If you control your mind, you will be in control of your life. However, if you don’t, and you allow your thoughts to run uncontrolled, you will live an unstable and unfruitful (unproductive) life.

-- God has an amazing peace that He makes available to you. But for God to KEEP you in peace, you must KEEP your mind fixed and focused on Him. If you want to Level Up in 2021, you are going to have to Level Up your thought life!

God will allow whatever you allow. -- Just like y God will allow whatever you allow.

-- Just like you can ALLOW your heart to be troubled, you have the power to refuse/reject the thoughts that lead to stress.

-- Faith is a choice, just like fear is a choice.

-- You cannot trust and worry at the same time, you have the power to choose. You get to CHOOSE which one YOU will do.

-- God will allow whatever you allow; He will not override YOUR choice!

Declaration of Faith to Reject Stress!

Father, I thank You for this teaching, and I thank You for Your peace! Your peace comes as a result of Your presence. I have accepted Jesus as my Lord. Your Spirit lives in me every second of every day. Your presence in me gives me what I need to face whatever challenges arise in my life. I will not allow external challenges to disturb my internal peace. When situations arise that I have to come over, I declare, by faith, that I overcome them because I am an overcomer. That’s who I am! I am a believer and not a doubter. I walk by faith and not by fear. I am the victor and not the victim. You are IN me, ON me, WITH me, and FOR me; who can be against me? Not only do I win the external fight, but I win the internal one as well. Negative stress has no power over me! I LEVEL UP my life in 2021! GREATER IS COMING FOR ME! I declare this by faith, in Jesus’s name. Amen!
