Two Blind Men

by Rick

Jesus went inside, and the blind men went with him. He asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to make you see again?” They answered, “Yes, Lord, we believe.”

(Matthew 9:28 ERV)

This morning we continue our series entitled, “The Year of Supernatural Manifestation”, with our mini-series on “The Miracles of Jesus”.  We spent the last week looking at the healing of Jairus’ daughter and the story of the woman with the issue of blood, who was healed on the way to Jairus’ home.  Today we pick up the story when Jesus left Jairus’ home.

After Jesus raised the little girl from the dead He left Jairus’ house and two blind men followed him, calling out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!”  Jesus took the blind men indoors and addressed them.  He said, “Do you believe that I am able to make you see again?”  This is the critical question.  Jesus had the power.  Did these two blind men have the faith?  They answered, “Yes, Lord, we believe.”  So Jesus touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith will it be done to you” and immediately their sight was restored.

So what does this mean to you today?  This is a short story, but we can still glean a few things from it.

1.  Honor is to the key to receiving from God through any human.

a)  Jesus was God in the flesh, but He was still known as a human in the earth.  Those who received from Jesus did so because they honored the anointing on His life.

b)  Jesus grew up in Nazareth.  In Jesus’ day Nazareth was considered a ghetto.  It was so bad that the questions was asked, “Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?”  Those who denounced Jesus commonly referred to Him as, “Jesus of Nazareth”.  This was no compliment.  They were basically identifying Jesus was His neighborhood and not His destiny.  But the two blind men in our text today did not call Him, “Jesus of Nazareth”.  They called Jesus the “Son of David”.  This was an acknowledgement that Jesus was the Messiah, because it was prophesied that the Messiah would come from the house and lineage of David.  This was an acknowledgement that Jesus was not a mere prophet.  And because the two blind men honored Jesus on that level, they could receive from Him on that level.

c)  You will never receive from someone on a level that you can’t honor them on.

d)  You will never tap into the anointing on someone’s life, unless you honor that anointing.

e)  In the Kingdom of God the currency is faith, but the culture is HONOR!

2.  You must believe God can do you are asking of Him.

a)  You will never ask someone for a million dollars, with a true expectation of receiving it, if you don’t believe the person has the money in the first place.  In other words, an honest request is an acknowledgement that the person you are making the request of is capable of meeting it.  The fact that the two blind men came to Jesus asking for their breakthrough is proof they believed He had the power to restore their sight.

b)  There is nothing God cannot do.  You must see God as a God of no limits.  No matter what you are facing, God is able!  As long as you acknowledge God’s ability, you will bring your issue to His feet.

3.  Faith is the key that unlocks breakthrough.

a)  When the two blind men came to Jesus, they did so because they knew He was capable of restoring their sight.  But ability and actual performance are not the same thing.  Before Jesus performed the miracle, He wanted the two men to release their faith.  He wanted them to openly declare what they believed.  They made their declaration and Jesus released God’s power.

b)  Jesus said,“According to your faith will it be done to you.”  God is more than capable of meeting the needs of any situation.  The question is: Do you have the faith?  If you have the faith, God has the power!

Closing Confession:  Father, this is a year of Great Victory for me.  This year I will experience supernatural manifestation like never before!  I acknowledge that Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, suffered, bled, died, and was raised from the dead with all power in His hands. I know who Jesus was and I acknowledge who He is in my life.  Jesus is my Lord.  You are my God.  I come to You in faith daily.  I believe You have the power to address any situation I face.  Therefore I declare, that every meeting, conversation and activity that I engage in today is blessed.  My God is ON me, IN me, WITH me and FOR me!  There’s no way I can lose!  I declare this by faith.  In Jesus’ name, amen.

This is Today’s Word!  Apply it and prosper!
