Today we continue our series, “As Jesus Is”, under the banner of the overall series for the year, “Supernatural Manifestation.” We have been looking at 1 John 4:16,17 for a couple of months now. I have been adding other passages to it. Right now we are looking at 1 John 4:16,17 and Philippians 2. Let’s get to it.
The Apostle John said:
And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
(1 John 4:16, 17 KJV)
The Apostle Paul said:
“In your life together, think the way Christ Jesus thought. He was like God in every way, but he did not think that his being equal with God was something to use for his own benefit. Instead, he gave up everything, even his place with God. He accepted the role of a servant, appearing in human form.
During his life as a man, he humbled himself by being fully obedient to God, even when that caused his death—death on a cross. So God raised him up to the most important place and gave him the name that is greater than any other name.”
(Philippians 2:5-9 ERV)
Yesterday we focused in on this statement: “During his life as a man, he humbled himself by being fully obedient to God, even when that caused his death—death on a cross.” In yesterday’s message, I made the following statement:
“Some Christians only want to submit to the Father when they actually want to do what He is telling them to do. In actuality, that is NOT submission. That is agreement! Anyone can agree to submit to something they are happy with. True submission comes when you DON’T want to do what God is leading you to do, and you do it ANYWAY! That’s how Jesus lived and it is how we are supposed to live as well.”
Today’s message will flow continue to flow in this vein.
So what does this mean to you today? A few things.
- When many believers hear their spiritual leaders declare things like: “This will be a season of great victory”, “This is our season!”, “This is our time!’, or “Get ready for the overflow”, they immediately open their hearts to what heaven is announcing. This is great! They should get ready. But what many fail to acknowledge is that the journey will not be pain or opposition-free. God did not remove all the obstacles on the road to your purpose. If He did, your human experience, here in the earth, would be a much different one. While God did not remove the opposition or the obstacles, what He did do was give you the grace to overcome them all!
- Divine success does not come without human submission. Human submission requires submission to things you did not want to do. Human submission will require painful experiences you did not want to endure.
- I have been teaching this series for a while now. I hope you are seeing yourself “As Jesus is, in this world.” However, be sober about the reality of it. This does not mean life will be a cake-walk. It does not mean everything will be easy. It does not mean you will not face opposition. Remember all that Jesus was up against. But what it does mean is that you ALREADY have the power to overcome all you must overcome on the path to your purpose, because Jesus is IN YOU! And that, my friends, is good news!
- As you enter this day and you prepare to face all you know you are going to have to face, just remember, God is ON you, IN you, WITH you and FOR you! If you submit to the God living on the inside of you, there is no way you can lose!!!
Closing Confession: Father, this is a year of Great Victory for me. I am ONE with You and You are ONE with me. I take You into every meeting conversation and activity I engage in today. If I face opposition, I do not run from it. I do not give up, cave in or quit. I am a world-overcomer. Greater is He who lives in me, than he who is in the world. I enter this day knowing that You are ON me, IN me, WITH me and FOR me! There’s no way I can lose. Because as Jesus is, so am I, in this world! I declare this by faith. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
This is Today’s Word! Apply it and Prosper.
