Today we continue our series entitled, “Back to the Bible,” with Part 32. We have been looking at Psalm 119. Let’s continue to walk through this amazing psalm. Today we will look at verses 96 and 97 from The Passion Bible Translation.
David said:
(v.96) I’ve learned that there is nothing perfect in this imperfect world except your words, for they bring such fantastic freedom into my life!
(v.97) O how I love and treasure the revelation of your word; throughout the day I fill my heart with its light!
So what does this mean to you today? A few things.
1. God and His Word are the only perfect things in our imperfect planet. David said, “I’ve learned that there is nothing perfect in this imperfect world except your words, for they bring such fantastic freedom into my life!” (Psalm 119:96 TPT)
a) We are fallen people who live amongst fallen people. This makes the earth an imperfect world. We serve a God who loves us despite our faults, flaws and failures. He loves us just the way we are… and He also loves us so much that He does not leave us that way. He gave us His Word and His Spirit to free us from mere humanity.
b) We are flawed and God is perfect. We are mortal and God is divine. We strive to be perfect in our humanity, but God is inherently holy. And our holy God gave us His Holy Word so we could know how to live, not just like LIKE HIM, but to actually live AS HIM in this world!
c) The Word of God contains the character, attributes and nature of our perfect and holy God. He gave us His Word and His Spirit to enable us to live AS EXAMPLES OF HIM in a fallen world. The Word of God teaches us how to be light in the midst of darkness, hope in the midst of despair and peace in the midst of chaos.
d) When you apply God’s Holy Word to your flawed life the results are supernatural. David said God’s Word brought an amazing “freedom into his life!” When you are in Christ and you apply His Word daily you are truly FREE! Not free to sin, but free to LIVE HOLY! When you apply God’s Word fully to your life it liberates you from imperfection, it disconnects you from the limits of this present world, and it propels you into the holiness associated with the supernatural. So you if you truly want to know what freedom feels like, apply God’s perfect Word to your imperfect life daily. If you do, you will be free from the flaws of your past and the limits of your humanity, so God can unlock His divinity IN and THROUGH you!
2. God’s Word provides light for daily living. David said, “O how I love and treasure the revelation of your word; throughout the day I fill my heart with its light!” (Psalm 119:97 TPT)
a) The Word of God provides light. In many ways your life is a journey. You are traveling from where you are today to where God has called you to be. On the way you have to traverse many dark situations and difficult decisions. This is where the light of God’s Word comes in. If you fill your heart with God’s Word, it will provide the LIGHT you need to make the right decisions. You will know where to go and what to do when you get there.
b) If you are searching for answers in life you ought to look no further than the Word of God. Life is an open-book test. The answers to the test are in the book (the Bible). If you open its pages and apply its truth you will live an amazing life.
c) God’s plan for your life is much greater than anything you could ever come up with on your own. But in order to live it, you must adhere to and apply God’s Word daily. If you have the Bible and you are not reading it or applying it, you are most certainly living beneath God’s best. If that’s you this morning, it’s time to make some changes.
Closing Confession:
Father, this is a season of expectation for me. I expect to experience Your best, because I apply Your Word daily. Your Word gives me light. Your Word enables me to make the right decisions. Your Word is the foundation for my life and living. And because I live by every Word You speak to me, I am called out of darkness and into light. I am called out of imperfection and into perfection. I am called out of the mundane and into the amazing. I am called out of the natural and I live a supernatural life daily. I don’t just live LIKE YOU, I live AS YOU on this planet. As Jesus is, so am I, in this world! I declare this by faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
This is Today’s Word. Apply it and prosper!
