The Word of His Power

by Rick

Today we continue our new series entitled, “Expecting the Word to Work!”  This is part 7.

Since I am only dealing with the first of four soils today (the soil along the path), I will only share the portion of scripture that pertains to it.  Let’s get to it. Jesus said:

The farmer is like someone who plants God’s teaching in people.  Sometimes the teaching falls on the path. That is like some people who hear the teaching of God.  As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the teaching that was planted in them.”

(Mark 4:13-15 ERV)

This parable makes it clear that God goes out of His way to sow His Word into the hearts of people.  Regardless of the status of the person, and regardless of their present condition, God provides humans seed.  This seed is designed to do two things: 1) bring about change IN them, and 2) produce fruit FROM them.  The power to produce change and fruit has nothing to do with the person and everything to do with God and His Word.

I often say that there is power in the Word of God.  But another way to say it is that there is power in God, and when He speaks, the words are the words of His Power.  Basically, His words are emanating from His power and they come full of the power of the one who spoke them. This is why the writer of Hebrews tells us that God framed the world by speaking words (Heb 11:3).  Further, the same writer tells us that God literally “upholds all things by the word of His power” (Heb 1:3).  So in once sense there is power in His Word.  In another sense, the power is actually in God and when He speaks, His words are the WORDS of HIS POWER!  Either way, it is clear that God’s Word has the power to change us and then change the world through us!

So what does this mean to you today?  A few things.

1.  Words from God are full of spirit and life.

a)  Jesus said, “The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. The very words I have spoken to you are full of spirit and life.” (John 6:63).

b)  Jesus was the Word of God in the flesh (John 1:1).  He was the embodiment of the Word.

c)  Jesus was the Word and as He walked around He spoke words.  He was life and the words He spoke were also full of spirit and life.  Those words are still full or spirit and life today, some 2,000 years later.

d)  When we receive and release the Word of God we are receiving and releasing spirit and life.  We are receiving and releasing God’s power, and this has nothing to do with human effort or ability.  The Word of God is the Word of God’s power. When we declare what God has decreed, we are coming in agreement for His power to be released in the earth, in our situation.

2.  God’s Word is so powerful that the entire universe was created by it.

a)  The Bible says, “By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.” (Heb 11:3).

b)  God did not create the universe by working hard.  He did not toil or sweat in creation. God created the universe by speaking words.  The Words He spoke contained His power. The Words He spoke were actually the WORDS OF HIS POWER.  Guess what? His Word still contain His power today.

c)  The Word of God contains the power of the God of the Word.

d)  The same power that created the universe is contained in the words that flow from God.  When you receive and then RELEASE those words, you are RELEASING God’s power. You don’t have to make the words work.  God watches over His own Words to perform them (Jer 1:12). If God said it, He will perform it. If He declared it, He will make it good (Num 23:19).

3.  Satan comes to snatch the Word immediately, because he knows how powerful it is.

a)  When you understand the power that is contained in the Word of God, you see why God goes out of His way to sow this Word in your heart.  You also know why satan goes out of his way to attempt to snatch the Word before it produces a harvest in your life.

b)  The power to change your life is contained in the written Word of God and in the words you receive from God as you read His written Word.  Satan is after this power. He wants to snatch the Word BEFORE it produces in your life. Your part is to simply receive it! You don’t have to make the Word of God work.  The power to change your life is already contained IN the Word of God. All you must do is ALLOW the Word to work in your life. Read it, meditate and medicate on it, pray over it, and allow it to change you from the inside out.

Closing Confession:

Father, this is a season of expectation for me.  My expectation is tied to Your Word! Your Word became flesh and dwelt among us in the form of Your Son Jesus.  The Words He released were full of Spirit and life. The entire universe was created by You speaking Words. Your Word still contains that very same power.  I receive and release Your power as I receive and release Your Word. I read Your Word daily. I meditate and medicate on it day and night. Your Word produces change IN me and then produces fruit FROM me.  I am full of Your Word. Therefore, I am full of Your power. This power has nothing to do with human ability. It has everything to do with You. Your Words are Words that emanate from Your POWER! As I declare what You have decreed, You watch over Your Word to perform it in my life!  I declare this by faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

This is Today’s Word.  Apply it and prosper!
