Today we continue our new series entitled, “Heaven on Earth,” by teaching on God’s Kingdom.
I got up this morning a few minutes before my alarm clock was set to go off. As I laid in bed I began to pray and open my heart to what God wanted for today’s message. I pray every morning and I sit in a posture of prayer as I wait to hear what the Father wants me to share with you on Today’s Word. Most of the time I get the Word while I am in the bathroom, getting ready to come down to my office. Sometimes I receive it when I am coming down to the kitchen for a cup of tea/coffee. This morning I got it while I was still in the bed. This is what I heard, “Give ‘Em Heaven!” I asked the Lord what that meant and He referred me to a common phrase we hear in movies when someone will say, “Give ‘em hell!”
I looked up the term “Give ‘em hell!” in the Urban Dictionary and it means: something referring to giving all you’ve got. Once I read that I knew what the Lord was telling me. See, in the world, they will use a phrase like, “Give ‘em hell!”, because they want you to give everything you’ve got into what you are doing. The emphasis is on human effort. The goal is to maximize your human ability. However, as a believer, God does not want you to live your life with an emphasis on human effort, ability or strength. In short, human ability is NOT good enough. God calls us to do things that we could never do on our own. He calls us BEYOND the natural. He calls us past what is human. He calls us into a realm that requires His involvement. He calls us into situations that, quite frankly, if He does not show up, it won’t get done. So instead of giving ‘em hell, what we need to do is Give ‘em heaven! Meaning that our goal is to give the world something that did not come from us. Our focus should be on living as conduits of the supernatural. We are humans with a God living on the inside of us. Our goal should be to LET HIM OUT!
So what does this mean to you today? A few things.
1. In Matthew 10 Jesus sent His disciples out to do what He was doing. He was requiring them to do things beyond their ability. He said, “Heal the sick. Raise the dead. Heal lepers. And cast demons out of people.” Jesus was clearly instructing His disciples to do things that no mere human could do. No mere human can heal the sick. No mere human can lay hands on a leper and watch the leprosy recede. No mere human can raise the dead or cast out demons. But Jesus was not telling them to do these things in their humanity. Jesus was requiring them to do it in their divinity. See, God deposits Himself INSIDE of us and when we realize we are humans walking around with GOD on the INSIDE, we then become conduits of the supernatural in the earth. This is why Jesus went on to say, “Freely you receive. Freely give.” (see Mat 10:8). Did you catch that? What Jesus was telling them to do had nothing to do with their power. They were supposed to RECEIVE and RELEASE power that is beyond this world. Jesus was not sending them out to Give ‘em hell, as if they had to give people they best that THEY HAD. No, Jesus was sending them out to Give ‘em heaven, because He was pointing them to something they could not do as mere humans. What Jesus wanted them to do was RECEIVE from heaven and then RELEASE what they received in the earth. Guess what? What was true for them back then is true for us today. Freely we RECEIVE from heaven and freely we are supposed to RELEASE into this world. This should be our goal every day. This is how we experience days of heaven on earth.
2. Later in Matthew 10 Jesus told His disciples that they were going to be arrested for doing what He was telling them to do. Let’s take a look at what He said would happen when they were arrested. Jesus said, “When you are arrested, don’t worry about what to say or how you should say it. At that time you will be given the words to say. It will not really be you speaking; the Spirit of your Father will be speaking through you.” (Mat 10:19,20). Do you see what it looks like connected to heaven? Jesus knew His disciples would not know what to say. But He did not want them worrying about that. He promised that the Father would give them the words to say. Guess what? That promise applies to us today. When we go out to do what the Father is leading us to do, we must do so cognizant of the fact that He is living IN us. This realization is important, because it helps us live the mindset Jesus had in John 14:10, where He said, “It is the Father, living in me. He gives me the words and He performs the work.” If you ever get to the point where you truly live with this mindset, you will become a conduit of heaven on the earth.
3. You are not a mere human, so stop living as one. You are a human walking around with God inside of him/her. It’s time to let God out! Go out there and give ‘em Heaven kid!
Declaration of Faith:
Father, I am Your child. I was born as a mere human, natural to this world. Thankfully, because of Your Son Jesus, I was Born-Again. I am no longer a mere human. I am no longer natural this world. I am natural to Your world, Your realm. I a now a citizen of heaven. I am an Ambassador of the Kingdom. I am a man/woman walking around with God inside of him/her. I don’t live my life focused on simply doing by best as a human. My best is not good enough. You require me to do things no human can do. So I live my life focused on being a conduit of heaven on earth. I minimize ME, so you can MAXIMIZE YOU IN ME! Today I am HIDDEN in Christ and Christ is REVEALED in me! You live in me Father and as I launch into this day, You give me the words and You perform the work. I am determined to Give ‘Em Heaven today! I declare this by faith. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
This is Today’s Word. Apply it and prosper!
