Today we continue our new series entitled, “Press through it! Yesterday we looked at Hebrews 10:23. Today we fast forward a few verses in this passage to get to our text.
(Heb 10:35,36 AMP)
Do not, therefore, fling away your fearless confidence, for it carries a great and glorious compensation of reward. For you have need of steadfast patience and endurance, so that you may perform and fully accomplish the will of God, and thus receive and carry away [and enjoy to the full] what is promised.
So what does this mean to you today? Let’s break this down.
1. The writer of Hebrews said, “Do not, therefore, fling away your fearless confidence.” One of the definitions I use for faith is “an expression of your confidence in God and His Word.” Faith is all about confidence. I have also stated that fear is “an expression of confidence in satan and his word.” So one could say that fear is all about confidence as well, but confidence pointed in the wrong direction. If your heart floods with fear when you get a doctor’s report, it is because you have confidence in the doctor. Likewise, if your heart floods with faith when you hear the Word of God from your Pastor, it is because you have confidence in God! Our text teaches us that we should walk in “fearless confidence”. Meaning that our confidence in God and His Word should be so strong that we give no space to fear. If you ever get to this point fear will have no power over you and you will be able to HOLD ON, in faith, until your change comes!
2. The next part of the passage says, “…for it carries a great and glorious compensation of reward.” The Hebrew writer also taught us that God rewards those who “diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6). This reward is not for those who operate in short bursts of confidence (or faith). This reward is reserved for those who believe God and remain unshakable in their resolve to seek the manifestation of His promises in their lives. Make no mistake about it, it is rewarding to live a life of faith! There is a great and glorious reward waiting for you on the other side of your challenge. You will receive it if you refuse to quit!
3. The writer of Hebrews went on to say, “For you have need of steadfast patience and endurance, so that you may perform and fully accomplish the will of God.” This is very important. You need patience (the force of consistency) in order to properly live by faith. In Hebrews 6:12 the writer tells us that it was by faith AND patience that those who went before us received the promises of God. We must couple patience with our faith in order to walk in God’s best. Without patience you will give up before your change comes.
4. The latter portion of our passage says, “And thus receive and carry away [and enjoy to the full] what is promised.” Satan constantly attempts to get us to doubt God and His Word. If we doubt God, if even for just a few minutes, we run the risk of flinging away our fearless confidence like the text says. And if we do that, we will lose hope that God will do what He said He would do. If you fling away your confidence in God you are basically guaranteeing that you will NOT see the promise of God manifested in your life. But if you remain patient, consistent, and confident, the text says that you will “receive and carry away” what God promised!
5. You must believe God and His Word no matter what the enemy brings up against you. Never allow doubt to get a hold of your heart. Doubt leads to fear and fear leads to failure. Have fearless confidence in God and have the patience to keep that fearless confidence until His Word becomes a reality in your life!
Declaration of Faith:
Father, I thank You for teaching me to walk and live by faith. I openly declare that I have fearless confidence in You and Your Word. I operate in that fearless confidence today and everyday. I will not allow anything or anyone to cause me to fling my fearless confidence away. Operating in faith and living with a daily confidence that You will do what You said You would do in my life has a great and glorious compensation of reward. I will receive that reward. I will enjoy what You promised. Because I add patience to my faith. It is through faith and patience that I will see Your promises manifested. I declare this by faith. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
This is Today’s Word. Apply it and prosper!
