Today I continue our new series entitled, “Power of Fellowship.” Let’s close out the week with a message about God’s knowledge of us.
Psalm 139 is an amazing psalm. In verse 16 David said, “Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you, The days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day.” To get a better understanding of what David was saying in this statement, we need to take a look at what else he said in the psalm. Here are a few verses:
Verses 1-4
“Lord, you have tested me, so you know all about me. You know when I sit down and when I get up. You know my thoughts from far away. You know where I go and where I lie down. You know everything I do. Lord, you know what I want to say, even before the words leave my mouth.”
Verse 6
“I am amazed at what you know; it is too much for me to understand.”
Verses 8-10
“If I go up to heaven, you will be there. If I go down to hell, you will be there. If I go east where the sun rises or go to live in the west beyond the sea, even there you will take my hand and lead me. Your strong right hand will protect me.”
Verse 13
“You formed the way I think and feel. You put me together in my mother’s womb.”
Verse 15
“You could see my bones grow as my body took shape, hidden in my mother’s womb.”
And now we get back to verse 16
“Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you, The days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day.”
So what does this mean to you today? A few things.
1. God knows everything about you and everything else.
a) God knows your thoughts before you think them, your words before you speak them, and your actions before you take them.
b) There is nothing God does not know — about you, about anyone, about or about anything, period!
c) It’s sometimes hard for humans to wrap our minds around the fact that God knows everything.
d) If the God who knows everything is living INSIDE of you (and He is), then why don’t you spend time with him, so He can tell you about yourself, others, and your future?
2. God is everywhere.
a) I cannot give you a grid-coordinate that can identify where God is, because there is not grid-coordinate where He is not.
b) God is with you as you read this email, He is waiting on you where you are going, and He will be with you as go… all at the same time.
c) If God is IN you and He is also already where you are going, why not spend time with Him so He can prepare you before you get there?
3. God designed you for a specific purpose.
a) You are unique and special. No one else on this planet can be YOU. So you might as well be YOU!
b) Your parents may have given birth to you, but they cannot define you. The only one who can define you is the one who designed you [God] within your mother’s womb!
c) God designed you for a specific purpose. You are walking around with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is your Spirit-to-Spirit connection to God the Father and Jesus the Son. Wouldn’t it be a shame to have a direct connection to the God who made you and then never use that connection? Spend time with God today, and this weekend, in fellowship. Ask God to reveal things to you about yourself and your future. You will be amazed by what He reveals.
Declaration of Faith:
Father, I have discovered You. I have come to know You through Your Son, Jesus the Christ, my Lord. Now that I know You, I am also discovering who I am. You are revealing things to me about ME that I never knew. You are also speaking to me about my future. It is the future You planned for me before the world began. You know all things and You already mapped out my success. So I die to me, to relying on my strength, and to the limits of humanity. As a result, I get to tap into You, Your strength, Your unsearchable knowledge, and Your immeasurable power. I enjoy all of this in fellowship with You. I enjoy our time together and I make time to spend time with You! I declare this by faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
This is Today’s Word. Apply it and prosper!
