Today we continue our series “God is faithful!” The Lord led me to 2 Corinthians 4. In this passage, we are looking at what it looks like to believe God is faithful. Because of God’s faithfulness towards us, we can withstand and overcome anything!
For days we have been looking at verse 13. We will go back to it again today.
(2 Corinthians 4:1, 7-13, 16-18 TPT)
1 Now, it’s because of God’s mercy that we have been entrusted with the privilege of this new covenant ministry. And we will not quit or faint with weariness.
7 We are like common clay jars that carry this glorious treasure within, so that this immeasurable power will be seen as God’s, not ours.
8 Though we experience every kind of pressure, we’re not crushed. At times we don’t know what to do, but quitting is not an option.
9 We are persecuted by others, but God has not forsaken us. We may be knocked down, but not out.
10 We continually share in the death of Jesus in our own bodies so that the resurrection life of Jesus will be revealed through our humanity.
11 We consider living to mean that we are constantly being handed over to death for Jesus’ sake so that the life of Jesus will be revealed through our humanity.
12 So, then, death is at work in us but it releases life in you.
13 We have the same Spirit of faith that is described in the Scriptures when it says, “First I believed, then I spoke in faith.” So we also first believe then speak in faith.
16 So no wonder we don’t give up. For even though our outer person gradually wears out, our inner being is renewed every single day.
17 We view our slight, short-lived troubles in the light of eternity. We see our difficulties as the substance that produces for us an eternal, weighty glory far beyond all comparison,
18 because we don’t focus our attention on what is seen but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but the unseen realm is eternal.
Today I will add two scripture passages for us to look at.
(Romans 10:9,10 KJV)
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
(Jer 1:12 AMP)
Then said the Lord to me, You have seen well, for I am alert and active, watching over My word to perform it.
So what does this mean for you today? A few things:
1. The supernatural is manifested when you set your faith in agreement with God by saying what He has said or is saying.
This passage is commonly used for salvation. The Holy Spirit through Paul teaches us that if we confess Jesus as Lord, from a believing heart, we will be saved. Think about that for a moment. We use our mouths (words) to make a confession unto salvation. To get a better understanding of this, we need to look at the original language.
The word translated “confess” in v.9 and “confession” in v.10 is the same word. It is the Greek word “homologeo.” This is a compound word. It comes from “homo,” meaning the same as; and “logeo,” where we get “logos,” meaning the written Word. In this case, it is a reference to the written Word of God. So, in context, to confess with your mouth is to literally say the SAME AS the Word of God concerning… whatever you are confessing. In the case of salvation, it is saying the SAME AS the Word of God about who Jesus is and who He is in your life.
— Once you confess Jesus as Lord, from a believing heart, He becomes your Savior, and you are translated out of the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of God.
— You are saved by speaking words that agree with God and speaking those words from believing heart. In other words, you were Born-Again by agreeing with God with words you believe!
— If words spoken from a believing heart can change your eternal destination, then doesn’t it stand to reason that the same would apply to other areas of your life?
— If speaking believing words that agree with God’s Word kept me from going to hell, then I have to believe (and I do) that speaking believing words that agree with God’s Word will keep peace in my marriage, warmth in my home, obedience in my children, health in my body, success in my career, and etc.
— This is now about speaking empty words or selfish words you came up with in your heart. I am talking about speaking what God has spoken already and speaking it from a believing heart!
— Confessing and believing (together) is what kept your life from hell, and this same combination will keep hell out of your life!
2. What do you think God does all day? One of the things God does all day is WATCH over His Word to perform it on the earth!
Jeremiah’s first chapter opens with his call from God. God explained to Jeremiah that he was set apart to be a prophet unto the nations before he was even formed in his mother’s womb. Jeremiah then did what we often do when God informs us of an assignment; he told God he did not know what to say and that he was unqualified for the assignment. God assured Jeremiah that He would tell him what to say and that He would be with him wherever he went. God even reached out His hand and touched Jeremiah’s mouth. When He did, God said, “I have put my words in your mouth.” This leads us to our text for today, where God said, “I am alert and active, watching over My word to perform it.”
Here are some things we can glean from this:
a) We all have a divine assignment: Jeremiah’s assignment was to be a prophet unto the nations. Our assignment might not be to prophesy, but whatever it is, we have one. The more clarity we have around God’s vision for our lives, the stronger the “pull” we will feel from our destiny. Remember, every day, your CALLING is CALLING you!
b) Your assignment will require you to speak God’s Word: Now, you may say, “That’s not fair. You can’t compare me to Jeremiah, because God never reached out and put His Word in my mouth.” You may be right, but He did place a Bible in your hands. The Bible you possess is as much God’s Word as what God placed in Jeremiah’s mouth, and God wants us to share His Word with the world, in whatever capacity He leads us to. No matter what you are called to do, your calling will require you to SHARE what God is SHARING with you!
c) God is always with you: God will never expect you to do something that He has not equipped you to do. Part of God’s equipping is the power that comes from the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. God lives in us and is with us everywhere we go. His presence brings with it His power, protection, and peace.
d) God’s Word, Your Mouth: When we share a scripture with someone, we are sharing God’s Living Word, but we are sharing it through our mouths. It is God’s Word, but it is our voice. It’s God’s Word, but it’s our personality. The more we speak the language of faith in our daily conversation, the more God will use you to share His Word with the world.
e) God is responsible for providing the power behind the Word: This is liberating for us. All we need to do is to develop the language of faith, share the Word in our daily conversation, and then trust God to do the rest.
— God has promised to watch over His Word to perform it.
— God is not obligated to perform OUR words. But He has obligated Himself to perform His Word.
— When we open our mouths, and we say what God has said, or what He is saying to us in the moment, God will ensure that His Word comes to pass.
— You don’t have to know how God is going to do it. You just need to say what He is leading you to say. If God provided you the words, God will ensure that His Word will never return to Him void.
— The Bible says this of angels: “Bless the Lord, you His angels, who excel in strength, who do His word, heeding the voice of His word” (Psalm 103:20). Angels are always ready to “do His word.” 24 hours a day, angels are “heeding the voice of His word.” When we open our mouths and say what God is saying, we give God’s word a VOICE on this planet, and angels move to execute God’s Word in this world.
— One of the things God does all day is watching over His Word to ensure it comes to pass on the earth.
I hope this gives you a better understanding of the importance of your words.
*** This is how we withstand and overcome anything!
That’s enough for today.
Declaration of Faith:
Father, this is a season of LEVELING UP for me. I LEVEL UP by speaking the language of faith daily. I speak faith over my divine assignment. I declare that I will complete it before I die. Part of my assignment is to develop the language of faith and to speak Your Word on this planet. I do that every day! I share Your Word with my mouth and my voice, and I know that You will back up Your Word and bring it to pass in this world. Angels move when I give Your Word a VOICE in this world. And You, Father, are always alert and active, watching over Your Word to perform it. So I loose Your Word over this day! I declare, no weapon formed against me will prosper (Is 54:17), You establish a table of blessing for me in the presence of my enemies (Ps 23:5), and I overcome the world by faith (1 Jn 5:4). GREATER IS COMING FOR ME! I declare this by faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
This is Today’s Word! Apply it and Prosper.
