Today, we continue our series entitled “Laser Focus,” with the point being that we should live with a Laser Focus on the Fixed Purpose God established for us before the world began.
This is the main scripture we will be looking at this year.
(Proverbs 4:25 TPT)
Set your gaze on the path before you. With fixed purpose, looking straight ahead, ignore life’s distractions.
(Isaiah 46:10,11 ERV)
10 In the beginning, I told you what would happen in the end. A long time ago, I told you things that have not happened yet. When I plan something, it happens. I do whatever I want to do.
11 I am calling a man from the east to do what I want. He will come like an eagle from a faraway country. He will do all that I have planned. Everything I said will happen just as I said it would.
So, what does this mean for you today? A few things.
1. God’s Omniscience: A Foundation for Our Faith.
— Faith requires you to believe something God revealed (that is future to you, but past to Him because He is eternal) without any sense-realm evidence to support it. You cannot validate it with your senses, but you believe it simply because God said it or revealed it.
— God has been to our future; He knows the end from the beginning. Believing this is foundational to our faith.
— Understanding that God knows His plans for 2024 already brings us confidence (i.e. faith).
— Realizing God can reveal the future to us before it happens encourages us to seek His guidance.
— Knowing that God knows the future and that He can reveal it to us doesn’t mean we are always going to like what is coming. In the book of Acts, Paul said, “the Holy Spirit warns me in town after town, saying, ‘Chains and afflictions are prepared for you.'” Even though it was of the difficulties he would face, Paul used the revelation as insight as to how to prepare for what was next.
— God knows the future, and He can reveal it. In Amos 3:7, the Bible says, “Surely the Sovereign LORD does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets.” In Daniel 2:28, the Bible says, “But there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries…” In John 16:13, Jesus said, “When He, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.” And in one of our main scriptures for today, God said, “In the beginning, I told you what would happen in the end…” (Isaiah 46:10).
— Aligning our actions with what God has planned and revealed ensures we are on the right path.
— Trusting in God’s omniscience allows us to face the unknown with certainty. Why? Because we know what God has revealed to us, and even when we don’t know what will happen, we know that God knows, which should bring us peace.
— Accepting that God’s knowledge surpasses ours helps us relinquish control and live by faith.
2. God’s Omnipotence: The Power Behind Our Purpose.
— God is capable of bringing His plans to fruition; His purposes will prevail.
— In one of our main scriptures for today, Isaiah 46:11, God said, “I am calling a man from the east to do what I want. He will come like an eagle from a faraway country. He will do all that I have planned. Everything I said will happen just as I said it would.” God is saying, “I call you to do something, I give you the grace to do it (no matter how hard it is), and I work through you to ensure my will comes to pass in and through your life!
— Acknowledging God’s power (grace) over our lives instills a sense of awe and worship.
— Our obedience becomes more meaningful when we recognize it’s part of God’s powerful plan.
— God calls us to do things we cannot do without Him, and He then equips us (with His grace) to perform the tasks He has set before us, reflecting His omnipotence.
— Overcoming challenges is possible through God’s strength, not our own.
— God’s ability to do all He desires encourages us to trust Him fully and to yield to Him completely.
— The realization that nothing is too hard for God motivates us to pursue His calling, despite challenges, knowing that God’s “super” is on our “natural.”
3. Our Role: Active Participation in God’s Plan.
— Recognizing that God is looking for us to do what He planned inspires us to actively engage with Him daily.
— When you know your temporary life is part of God’s eternal plan, it motivates you to open your heart to His Spirit every day, ready to manifest the destiny He planned before the world began.
— Our daily decisions and actions should reflect our commitment to God’s eternal plan. Our lives should reflect the fact that we believe we are part of something bigger than just selfish desires.
— By seeking God’s will, we align ourselves with the tasks He desires us to accomplish.
— Embracing God’s plan involves both faith and action on our part. You can’t just believe it. You must attempt it, even at the risk of looking foolish.
— Each step we take in obedience is a step towards fulfilling God’s purposes.
— The knowledge that we are part of something greater than ourselves fuels our passion for God’s work.
— Many people on this planet are living their lives in pursuit of self-promotion, self-advancement, and self-gratification. Our lives should testify of something different. Our lives should be about dying to self, yielding to God, advancing God’s purposes, and living for His glory!
