Learning From the Life of Joseph | Series Recap #2

by Rick

Today, we continue our series entitled “Laser Focus,” emphasizing living with a Laser Focus on the Fixed Purpose God established for us before the world began.

(Proverbs 4:25 TPT)

Set your gaze on the path before you. With fixed purpose, looking straight ahead, ignore life’s distractions.

Scriptures for today:

(James 1:2-4 TPT)

2 My fellow believers, when it seems as though you are facing nothing but difficulties, see it as an invaluable opportunity to experience the greatest joy that you can!

3 For you know that when your faith is tested, it stirs up power within you to endure all things.

4 And then as your endurance grows even stronger it will release perfection into every part of your being until there is nothing missing and nothing lacking.

(Ecc 3:1 ERV)

There is a right time for everything, and everything on earth will happen at the right time

(Genesis 50:20,21 NKJV)

20 But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.

21 Now therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones.” And he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.

So, what does this mean for you today?  A few things:

1. Divine Providence in Action.

Joseph’s life is a powerful testimony to God’s divine providence. Despite all the adversities he faced, including his brother’s betrayal, slavery, and imprisonment, God’s hand was at work, orchestrating events to fulfill His purposes.

How this applies to you:

— Trust that God is always working, even when circumstances seem chaotic or unfair.

— Believe that every event in your life, whether good or bad, will ultimately serve a greater purpose in God’s divine plan.

— Rest in the assurance that God is weaving your life experiences into a beautiful story that will bring Him glory.

— Remember that God’s providence means that nothing happens by accident; He is always working behind the scenes, and He will make sure that things work out for your good.

— When you are tired, frustrated, or maybe even afraid, stir up the faith to believe in God’s overarching plan, knowing that He can turn even the darkest situations into opportunities for His purposes to be fulfilled.

2. God Requires Faith and Integrity in the Midst of Trials.

Joseph remained faithful to God and maintained his integrity, even in the face of severe temptation and injustice. His unwavering faith and moral devotion serve as an example for us all.

How this applies to you:

— Stand firm in your faith, regardless of your challenges or temptations.

— Uphold your integrity, knowing that your character is being shaped and refined through trials.

— Note: we talked a great deal about character in this series.  This is important because you need faith and character. If you focus on building up your faith but don’t develop your character, you will have the faith to believe God for the blessing, but God won’t release it because you have not developed the character to handle it.

— Trust that God honors and rewards faithfulness, even when it goes unnoticed by others.

— Embrace the truth that maintaining integrity paves the way for God’s blessings and favor in your life.

— Let Joseph’s example inspire you to remain faithful and true to God’s principles, no matter the cost.

3. We Learned About Forgiveness and Reconciliation From Joseph.

Joseph’s ability to forgive his brothers mirrors the forgiveness God extends to us through Jesus Christ. His story teaches us the power of forgiveness and the importance of reconciliation.

How this applies to you:

— Let go of past hurts and choose to forgive those who have wronged you, just as God forgives you.

— Seek reconciliation in your relationships, reflecting the heart of God in your interactions with others.

— Understand that forgiveness is a pathway to personal freedom and spiritual growth.

— Emulate Joseph’s example by extending grace and mercy to those who have hurt you, fostering healing and unity.

— Believe that forgiveness opens the door for God’s blessings and favor in your life. Bitterness, unforgiveness, malice, and strife are all blessing-blockers.

— Joseph’s story would have been very different (and the Bible would not have dedicated so many chapters to his life) if he had chosen to enact revenge against his brothers.

— If you want God to honor your life’s story, you must commit to developing Godly character and a forgiving heart.

4. Transforming Adversities into Opportunities for Growth.

Joseph’s life demonstrates that God can turn adversities into opportunities for growth.  His hardships prepared him for the significant role he would play in God’s plan, and his trials positioned him for his blessings.

How this applies to you:

— View your trials as opportunities for growth and development in God’s hands.

— Trust that while God may not cause difficult circumstances, He will surely use them to shape and refine your character.

— Embrace the belief that your current challenges are stepping stones to a greater purpose. Looking back, you may come even to appreciate your trials because, without them, you would not have been in the position to receive your greatest blessings.

— Find strength in knowing that God can transform your misfortunes into testimonies of His glory.

— When you go through the fire and come out the other side of it, make sure you tell your story. Testify of God’s goodness! Your testimony encourages others!

5. Be Open To God’s Favor.

Joseph’s life exemplifies the favor of God. Despite being sold into slavery and later imprisoned, Joseph continually found favor in the eyes of those around him because of God’s blessing. As I have told you many times, God’s favor is upon us, not because of what we do, but because of what Jesus has done.

How this applies to you:

— Recognize that God’s favor is upon you, regardless of your circumstances. Joseph had favor as a slave and as a prisoner. Later, he was favored as the Prime Minister. So, whether your circumstances are good or bad, you can still enjoy God’s favor.

— Expect God’s favor to open doors of opportunity and influence in your life.

— Understand that favor can cause you to stand out and be promoted even in adverse conditions.

— Rest in the knowledge that God’s favor is not earned but freely given through Christ.

— Live confidently, knowing that God’s favor surrounds you like a shield.

— Know that favor can do more in a minute than labor can do in a lifetime!

Declaration of Faith:

Father, You are a Sovereign King who meticulously orchestrates every detail of my life for Your divine purpose.

I trust in Your providence, knowing You are always working, turning all things together for my good.

Your favor surrounds me and goes before me, opening doors of opportunity and blessing, regardless of my situation. You move on the hearts of those in positions of influence and power to help me.

I stand firm in my faith and integrity, building Godly character and representing You well.

I release all past hurts, choosing to forgive as You have forgiven me, fostering reconciliation and healing.

My life is a living testimony of Your faithfulness, reflecting Your love and grace to the world.

GREATER IS COMING FOR ME because You turn all things for my good and Your glory.

I declare this by faith, in Jesus’ name. Amen!

This is Today’s Word. Apply it and prosper!
