Today, we continue our series entitled “Laser Focus,” emphasizing living with a Laser Focus on the Fixed Purpose God established for us before the world began.
Scriptures we have been looking at all year:
(Proverbs 4:25 TPT)
Set your gaze on the path before you. With fixed purpose, looking straight ahead, ignore life’s distractions.
(James 1:2-4 TPT)
2 My fellow believers, when it seems as though you are facing nothing but difficulties, see it as an invaluable opportunity to experience the greatest joy that you can!
3 For you know that when your faith is tested, it stirs up power within you to endure all things.
4 And then as your endurance grows even stronger it will release perfection into every part of your being until there is nothing missing and nothing lacking.
(Ecc 3:1 ERV)
There is a right time for everything, and everything on earth will happen at the right time.
Focus for today:
Setting the Stage. (From 2 Samuel 2:1-4)
In 2 Samuel 2:1-4, we find David at a crucial transition point. Saul had just died, and instead of rushing ahead to claim what God had promised him years ago through Samuel, David did something profound. It is something he was accustomed to doing. He prayed. He inquired of the Lord. This passage teaches us vital lessons about how to access God’s promises through faith, not human effort.
After praying, God told him where to go, and he went there. Guess what? Once he was in position, the people of the tribe came and MADE him their King. David did not have to make it happen. He just had to hear from God and obey what God said. Once he was in position, THE BLESSING came looking for him. This is how we are supposed to live.
David’s actions in this passage demonstrate the difference between trying to make things happen in our own strength versus flowing in the unforced rhythms of God’s grace. This is why I teach you how to live THE GRACE LIFE every day. After studying the Bible for 29 years (almost every day), I am convinced that this is the way we are supposed to live.
So, what does this mean to you today? A few things:
1. Faith Accesses What Grace Has Already Provided.
While the world teaches us to strive, strain, and struggle to get ahead, THE GRACE LIFE teaches us something entirely different. Living by grace means understanding that God has already provided everything we need for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3). The difference between human effort and the grace life is the difference between trying to earn what God has already freely given and simply believing to receive what He has already provided. Grace is not about what we must do FOR God, but about what God has already DONE for us.
How this applies to you:
— Stop trying to earn what God has already given you by grace.
— Release yourself from the pressure to perform and rest in Christ’s finished work.
— Your faith doesn’t move God; it simply receives what His grace has already provided.
— God’s grace is not a response to your faith; your faith is a response to His grace.
— Let your confidence be in His provision, not your performance.
— God’s “yes” was established before your faith ever showed up.
— Your role is to believe and receive, not achieve and accomplish.
2. Faith is About God’s Plans, Not Ours.
Faith is not about getting God to agree with your plans; it’s about you agreeing with His. Faith is not about you convincing God. Faith is the result of God convincing you!
Many believers exhaust themselves trying to use faith as a force to manifest their desires. But true Biblical faith is about discovering and embracing what God has already planned. David understood this principle. Even after being anointed as king, he didn’t try to make it happen; he waited for God’s timing and positioning. God made him the King of Judah when the time was right. And 7 years later, when David was ready, and the people were ready, God made David the King of Israel (just like He had promised 20 years earlier).
How this applies to you:
— Release your agenda and embrace God’s predetermined plan for your life.
— Stop trying to convince God to bless your plans and start discovering His.
— Learn to discern God’s will so you can exercise faith for His plans.
— Faith is not a tool to get what you want; it’s the means to receive what God has provided.
— Your faith grows as your revelation of God’s grace increases.
— True faith always aligns with God’s Word and His will.
— Let go of your timeline and trust God’s perfect timing.
3. Prayer is Your Divine Connection That Leads to Divine Direction.
Prayer is not about getting God to do something but about getting in a position to receive what He has already done. David’s practice of inquiring of the Lord demonstrates the proper approach to prayer in the grace life. Prayer is not about informing God of our needs or convincing Him to move on our behalf. Instead, it’s about positioning ourselves to receive His guidance and aligning ourselves with His will.
How this applies to you:
— Make prayer your first response, not your last resort.
— Enter prayer as a time of communion, not just communication.
— Expect both revelation and direction when you pray.
— Prayer is about discovering God’s will, not demanding your way.
— Let prayer position you to receive God’s provision.
— View prayer as your gateway to supernatural guidance.
— Use prayer to align with heaven’s agenda for your life.
— Once God speaks to you in prayer, be quick to obey what He said. This was David’s secret. David was quick to do whatever God told him to do.
— What good is it to ask God to speak to you if you are not going to do what He tells you to do? The more we show God that we are quick to obey, the more apt God will be to provide us with direction and revelation in prayer.
4. Living By Faith Positions You for Sudden Manifestation.
Here is a Kingdom key: Position precedes possession. When we learn to position ourselves according to God’s Word and leading, we enter what Kenneth Hagin called “the flow of God’s Spirit.” David didn’t strive to make himself king; he simply got in position, and the blessing came looking for him. This is THE GRACE LIFE – where we learn to flow with God’s Spirit rather than force things in our own strength.
How this applies to you:
— Focus on getting in position rather than making things happen.
— Trust that when you’re in position, God’s blessings will find you.
— Stop striving and start positioning yourself according to God’s Word and the leading of His Spirit.
— Remember that sudden manifestation follows divine positioning.
— Position always precedes possession in God’s kingdom.
— Let God’s grace, not your efforts, bring about His promises.
— Your blessing is looking for you; just get in position to receive it.
— I love the word “SUDDENLY” in the Bible. God is a God of SUDDENLY MOMENTS, but these moments will not come when you are out of position.
— When you align yourself (by faith) with what God has already provided (by grace), you will receive blessings that will cause people to claim you are an overnight success. But they did not see your 10, 20, or 30 years of building up your faith to get to that point. Once you are in position, in faith, without a doubt, without wavering, THE BLESSING will overtake you, and it will be a manifestation of God’s unearned GRACE!
I hope you can see the difference between living by human effort and living THE GRACE LIFE!
Declaration of Faith:
Father, I thank You for having already provided everything I need by Your grace.
I declare that my faith accesses what You have already done, and I stop trying to make everything happen.
I position myself to receive Your plans rather than pursuing my own agenda.
I commit to seeking You first in prayer, waiting for Your direction before taking action.
When You speak, I move; when You’re silent, I wait.
I trust that as I position myself according to Your Word and Your Spirit, Your blessings will manifest SUDDENLY!
I release all striving and rest in the finished work of Christ.
Your grace is sufficient for me, and my faith connects me to Your supernatural provision.
I am exactly where You want me to be, and Your timing is perfect in my life.
I declare that GREATER IS COMING because I am flowing in harmony with the unforced rhythms of Your grace and not my works.
I declare this by faith. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
This is Today’s Word. Apply it, and prosper!
