The Power of Believing What God Believes About You

by Rick

Today we continue our series entitled “Living the Grace Life,” where we will learn to embrace and walk in God’s unmerited, unearned, and often undeserved favor throughout 2025.

Key scriptures for this year:

2 Corinthians? ?9?:?8? ?TPT??

“Yes, God is more than ready to overwhelm you with every form of grace, so that you will have more than enough of everything—every moment and in every way. He will make you overflow with abundance in every good thing you do.”

??

??Galatians? ?5?:?4? ?TPT??

“If you want to be made right with God by fulfilling the obligations of the law, you have cut off more than your flesh—you have cut yourselves off from Christ and have fallen away from the revelation of grace!”

Romans? ?6?:?14? ?ERV??

“Sin will not be your master, because you are not under law. You now live under God’s grace.”

??

1 Corinthians? ?15?:?10? ?NIV??

“But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.”

Additional scriptures for today:

Hebrews 11:1 NIV

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”

Ephesians 1:3 NKJV

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.”

Setting the Stage:

For the past few days, we’ve been exploring the relationship between God’s grace and our faith. Yesterday, I reminded you that grace is God’s part, and faith is our part.  We learned that grace always precedes faith and that faith accesses what grace has already provided. Today, I want to focus on a truth that changed my life: the power of believing what God believes about you. I have taught on this before, so today will be another refresher or sorts.

Many believers struggle with a distorted self-image because they’ve accepted the world’s opinion of them, their own limited perception, or even the enemy’s lies.  But when you align your beliefs about yourself with God’s beliefs about you, everything changes.  Your identity becomes secure, your faith grows stronger, and you begin to walk in the fullness of God’s grace. It’s not about what you do; it’s about what you believe–specifically, believing what God believes about you.

So, what does this mean to you today?  A few things.

1. God’s Perspective of You Is Higher Than Your Own.

God sees you through the lens of His grace, not through the lens of your performance. His view of you is based on Christ’s finished work, not on your unfinished journey.

How this applies to you:

While you are struggling with the process, God is focused on helping you arrive at His overall expected end for your life and on helping you make the impact you were born to make along the way.

— Isaiah 55:9 reminds us, “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” God’s thoughts about you are infinitely higher than your thoughts about yourself.

— Many believers are walking around with a sin-consciousness when God has given them a righteousness-consciousness.  They see themselves as unworthy when God sees them as completely worthy in Christ.

When satan looks at you, he sees sin. When God looks at you, He sees His Son, He sees you are covered by His Son’s blood, and He sees the purpose He called you to walk in before the world began.  This is why Paul said that for God to deny you, as a Born-Again believer, He would have to deny Himself (see 2 Tim 2:13).

— The enemy wants you to focus on your weaknesses, but God focuses on the strength of His grace at work in you. As Paul discovered, God’s grace is actually made perfect in your weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

— Your opinion of yourself affects your prayers, faith, relationships, and future. That’s why it’s critical to see yourself as God sees you.

— Most believers pray from a position far lower than their true position in Christ. They approach God as beggars when He’s made them heirs, as slaves when He’s made them sons and daughters.

— The transformation of your life begins with the transformation of your self-image. You must learn to see yourself through God’s eyes rather than through the distorted lens of your past, your performance, or other people’s opinions.

2. God Believes Greater Things About You Than You Believe About Yourself.

God’s vision for your life is always bigger than your vision for your life. His belief in what you can become and accomplish through His grace far exceeds what you typically believe about yourself.

How this applies to you:

— As I often teach, “Your life will change forever the day you believe what God believes about you.” God doesn’t see you as struggling, lacking, or defeated. He sees you as victorious, complete, and empowered by His grace.

— When God called Gideon a “mighty warrior” (Judges 6:12), Gideon was hiding in fear.  God wasn’t describing Gideon’s current state; He was declaring Gideon’s true identity. And when Gideon finally believed what God believed about him, he became that mighty warrior.

God always calls the end from the beginning. God speaks to your TO BE stage from your RIGHT NOW stage. Your job is to believe what He is saying. Gideon was transformed from a coward into a champion when he believed what God believed about him.

— God called Abraham “a father of many nations” when he was still childless. God called David a king while he was still a shepherd boy.  In each case, God’s belief about them preceded their belief about themselves, and it was only when they aligned their belief with God’s that they stepped into their destiny.

— Jesus looked at Simon and said, “You are Peter (which means ‘rock’)” (John 1:42). At the time, Simon was anything but a rock–he was impulsive, unreliable, and unstable. But Jesus didn’t define him by his present condition; He defined him by his God-given identity. Eventually, Peter became the rock Jesus had said he was.

— Many of your limitations aren’t actual limitations; they’re perceived limitations based on what you believe about yourself.  When you begin to believe what God believes about you, those limitations dissolve.

— Your greatest obstacle isn’t external; it’s internal. The greatest thing holding you back right now may be an unwillingness to believe what God believes about you. Once that obstacle is removed, external obstacles begin to crumble.

— The devil works overtime to keep you from discovering what God believes about you because he knows that this discovery will release unprecedented power in your life. You will start doing things you have never done and experiencing power you have never walked in. Not because you are good, but because God is.

3. Faith Is Simply Agreeing With God’s Perspective.

True faith isn’t mustering up belief in something difficult; it’s simply aligning your beliefs with what God has already said and done. It’s saying “Amen” to God’s “Yes.”

How this applies to you:

2 Corinthians 1:20 NIV says, “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.”  Did you catch that? God has already said “Yes” to the promises He has given you. What He is looking for now is your “Amen!”  The amen is spoken by us.  Amen means: I agree.  This is why I ask you to say “Amen” to so many things.  I want you to open up your mouth and agree with what God is saying about you.

— When you pray, you’re not trying to get God to change His mind about you or your situation. You’re aligning your mind with His, agreeing with His perspective, and positioning yourself to receive what His grace has already provided.

— Abraham “did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith.” Why? Because he became “fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised” (Romans 4:20-21).  Abraham’s faith simply aligned his beliefs with God’s beliefs.

— Many believers try to strengthen their faith by focusing on their faith, but true faith is strengthened by focusing on God’s faithfulness. The more you see God’s track record of keeping His promises, the easier it becomes to believe what He believes about you.

Faith isn’t something you generate; it’s something you receive.  Romans 10:17 tells us that “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”  As you hear God’s perspective through His Word and His Spirit, faith naturally arises in your heart.

— The prayer of faith isn’t asking God to do something new; it’s agreeing with what God has already done. It’s saying, “Father, I believe what You believe about me and this situation, and I receive by faith what Your grace has already provided.”

4. Living From God’s Perspective Transforms Everything.

When you consistently believe what God believes about you, it transforms your identity, actions, relationships, and impact on the world.  You begin to live from a position of grace rather than self-effort.  This is THE GRACE LIFE I teach you about every day.

How this applies to you:

— Ephesians 1:3 declares that God “has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.” Notice the past tense.  When you believe this truth, you stop begging God for what He’s already given and start receiving by faith what His grace has already provided.

— Living from God’s perspective doesn’t exempt you from challenges, but it completely changes how you face them.  Instead of being overwhelmed by the size of your mountains, you’re overwhelmed by the greatness of your God.

— Your actions begin to flow from your identity rather than trying to create your identity. You don’t serve God to become His servant; you serve Him because you already are His servant. You don’t love others to become loving; you love others because His love has been poured out in your heart (Romans 5:5).

— Relationships are transformed because you’re no longer trying to get your identity and worth from others. When you know who you are in Christ, you’re free to love unconditionally without the fear of rejection. In other words, once you believe what God believes about you, it changes the way you interact with others.

Even your failures are reframed. Instead of seeing them as evidence that you’ll never measure up, you see them as temporary setbacks in a journey that’s already guaranteed to succeed because of God’s grace.

— The peace that passes understanding becomes your normal state because you’re resting in God’s perspective rather than being tossed around by changing circumstances or opinions.

Declaration of Faith:

Father, I thank You for showing me who I truly am through Your eyes of Your amazing grace.

I declare that I believe what You believe about me–that I am righteous, holy, empowered, and destined for victory in Christ Jesus.

I refuse to define myself by my past failures, present struggles, or other people’s opinions of me.

I align my thoughts with Your thoughts and my beliefs with Your beliefs about my life and future.

I receive by faith all that Your grace has already provided for me in Christ Jesus.

I walk confidently today, not because of who I am but because of who You say I am.

I am living THE GRACE LIFE in 2025, empowered by believing what You believe about me! Therefore, I know GREATER IS COMING FOR ME!

I declare this by faith, in Jesus’ name. Amen!

This is Today’s Word! Apply it and prosper!
