Grace in Galatians (Part 27): God Has a SPECIFIC Assignment Just For YOU

by Rick

Today, we continue our series entitled “Living the Grace Life,” where we will learn to embrace and walk in God’s unmerited, unearned, and often undeserved favor throughout 2025.

As part of this series, I am teaching a verse-by-verse exposition of the book of Galatians. Let’s get into it.

Key scriptures for this year:

2 Corinthians 9:8 TPT
“Yes, God is more than ready to overwhelm you with every form of grace, so that you will have more than enough of everything–every moment and in every way. He will make you overflow with abundance in every good thing you do.”

Galatians 5:4 TPT
“If you want to be made right with God by fulfilling the obligations of the law, you have cut off more than your flesh–you have cut yourselves off from Christ and have fallen away from the revelation of grace!”

Romans 6:14 ERV
“Sin will not be your master, because you are not under law. You now live under God’s grace.”

1 Corinthians 15:10 NIV
“But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them–yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.”

Scripture(s) we will study today:

Galatians 2:7 TPT
“But on the contrary, they saw that I had been entrusted with the gospel for the uncircumcised, just as Peter had been entrusted with the gospel for the circumcised.”

1 Corinthians 4:2 ERV
“Everyone who is given a trust must prove that they are worthy of that trust.”

Ephesians 3:7-8 TPT
“I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace that was given to me by the divine working of his power. To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ.”

Setting the Stage:

In our last message, we learned how to break free from the need to be like everyone else. We discovered that grace teaches us to run our own race without comparing ourselves to others and that different callings don’t mean different levels of importance in God’s eyes.

Today, Paul shows us something beautiful about how God distributes assignments.  Paul was entrusted with the gospel for the Gentiles, while Peter was entrusted with the gospel for the Jews.  This wasn’t about competition. It was about God’s strategic deployment of His people to reach every sphere of influence.

Here’s what I want you to understand: God has entrusted you with something specific. Your assignment may not look like Paul’s or Peter’s, but it’s equally important in God’s Kingdom strategy.  The same grace that empowered their ministries is available to empower your assignment.

So, what does this mean to you today?  A few things.

1. Grace Reveals That God Has Entrusted You with a Specific Assignment.

Paul says, “I had been entrusted with the gospel for the uncircumcised.”  This word “entrusted” means God deliberately placed something valuable in Paul’s hands.  Grace shows you that God has deliberately placed something valuable in your hands, too.  This is something that only you can carry out effectively within your sphere of influence because you are unique, and you have the grace for it.

How this applies to you:

— You are not an accident in God’s Kingdom strategy.  God has specifically positioned you where you are, with the skills you have, for the people you’re called to influence.

— Your assignment is not random; I want you to know it is very strategic.  God has entrusted you with specific people, problems, and opportunities that align perfectly with who He created you to be.

— The grace to fulfill your assignment has already been provided.  God doesn’t give assignments without providing the supernatural ability to complete them successfully. As I say, God’s instruction is always equal to His injection. Whatever He has called you to do, He has already injected (or graced) you with.

You don’t have to earn your assignment–it was given and entrusted to you by grace.  You just have to step into it with faith and watch God’s power flow through your obedience.

— Your unique background, experiences, and perspective are not coincidences.  I want you to know that everything you have been through has been preparing you for what you are called to do.  It’s like your background (although it may not look like others) is actually part of your divine qualification for what God has entrusted to you.

The people you’re naturally drawn to or the problems that stir your heart are often clues to what God has entrusted you with.

— Your assignment matters to God’s overall Kingdom strategy.  If you don’t fulfill what He’s entrusted to you, there will be people who won’t be reached and problems that won’t be solved. Say this: “My assignment matters!

2. Grace Empowers You to Steward Your Assignment with Excellence.

Paul didn’t just receive an assignment from God; he proved himself to be faithful to what was entrusted to him.  God does not just give you an assignment by grace; He also turns around and gives you the grace to excel in that assignment.  This means you are not just called to participate–you’re called to dominate within your sphere of influence.  Say this: “I have the grace to dominate in the area I am called into.”

How this applies to you:

When you are committed to operating with a spirit of excellence in your assignment, it brings glory to God and demonstrates His grace working through your life to everyone watching you.

— You have supernatural grace available to exceed natural expectations in whatever God has entrusted to you, whether it’s ministry, business, family, or community leadership.

Your assignment is your mission field. Whether you’re called to the marketplace, the classroom, the mission field, or the ministry, you’re called to excel in your field and to make a lasting impact.

God’s grace gives you favor with the people you’re called to influence. You don’t have to manipulate or scheme your way into effectiveness.  God’s favor opens doors that no man can shut.

— The wisdom you need for complex decisions, difficult situations, and strategic planning is available through grace.  You don’t have to figure everything out in your own strength.

Your assignment will grow and expand as you prove faithful to what God has currently entrusted to you.  Faithfulness in small things leads to responsibility for greater things.

Grace provides both the desire and the ability to fulfill your assignment with excellence. When you’re walking in grace, you want to do what God has called you to do.

Read this verse:

(Phil 2:13 NLT)

For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.

(Phil 2:13 ERV)

Yes, it is God who is working in you. He helps you want to do what pleases him, and he gives you the power to do it.

God will not force you to do anything because He made you a free moral agent.  And since He loves you with unconditional love, He goes out of His way to win you over.  He puts glimpses of His purpose in your heart to the point where you WANT to do it.

3. Grace Teaches You That Your Assignment Is Connected to God’s Larger Plan.

Paul understood that his ministry to the Gentiles was part of a larger strategy to reach the whole world.  Your assignment is not isolated–it’s connected to God’s comprehensive plan to advance His Kingdom in the earth.

How this applies to you:

— What God has entrusted to you fits perfectly into His overall plan to reach every people group, solve every problem, and advance His Kingdom in every sphere of society.

— Your success in your assignment creates opportunities for other believers to succeed in their assignments.  We’re all connected in God’s master plan.

You don’t have to understand the full scope of God’s plan to be faithful with your part.  Focus on excelling in what He’s entrusted to you, and trust Him with the bigger picture.

Your assignment has a multi-generational impact.  God is too big of a God to just be focused on you.  What you do in faithfulness today creates platforms and opportunities for the next generation to build upon.

— God strategically places people in every industry, community, and sphere of influence.  You are His representative in places where other believers may never have access.

4. Grace Gives You Confidence to Embrace Your Assignment Without Apology.

Paul didn’t apologize for being called to the Gentiles, even though it was different from Peter’s calling. Grace gives you the confidence to embrace what God has entrusted to you without feeling like you need to justify it to anyone.

How this applies to you:

You don’t need anyone’s permission to walk in what God has entrusted to you.  His calling on your life is your authorization to pursue your assignment with confidence.

Stop apologizing for being different from other believers in your calling, approach, or sphere of influence.  This is something I had to get over.  God designed you specifically for what He’s entrusted to you to do, and since it may be different from what He called your friends or associates to do, you have to become settled in it; especially since people will criticize what they do not understand.

Your assignment is valid whether it looks spiritual to other people or not.  Ministry in the marketplace is just as sacred as ministry behind a pulpit.

You don’t have to prove your calling to people who don’t understand it.  Your results will speak for themselves as you walk in obedience to what God has shown you.

Your assignment will require you to make decisions that other people don’t understand.  Grace gives you the wisdom and courage to make those decisions without fear of criticism.

Confidence in your assignment comes from knowing it was entrusted to you by grace, not earned through performance.  You belong in the space God has called you to occupy. Say this: “God’s grace is on my life and I belong!

— Paul had to deal with the whispers that he was not a true Apostle or that, at a minimum, he was not as qualified as the other Apostles because he did not walk with Jesus. Further, he actually spent years persecuting the Jesus movement. But Paul had to get over that. He had to be settled in the fact that his calling was just as valid as the calling of the Jerusalem Apostles.  While people were criticizing what they did not understand, Paul had to remain focused on fulfilling the assignment that was entrusted to him.  We can learn a lot from the Apostle Paul. I hope you are enjoying this series.

Declaration of Faith:

Father, I thank You that You have entrusted me with a specific assignment that fits perfectly into Your Kingdom strategy.

I declare that I am not an accident in Your plan–You have strategically positioned me where I am for the people I’m called to influence.

I receive the grace to excel in what You have entrusted to me, knowing that You provide both the desire and the power to fulfill my assignment with excellence.

I will steward my assignment with faithfulness, understanding that my success creates opportunities for others and contributes to Your larger plan on the earth.

I embrace my calling without apology, knowing that You entrusting this assignment to me is my authorization to pursue it with confidence.

I declare that the grace to fulfill my assignment has already been provided, and I will step into it with faith and watch Your power flow through my obedience.

I will not compare my assignment to anyone else’s, but I will focus on excelling in what You have specifically entrusted to me.

I declare that I am living #TheGraceLife, and GREATER IS COMING FOR ME!

I declare this by faith. In Jesus’ name. Amen!

This is Today’s Word! Apply it and Prosper!
