Grace in Galatians (Part 28): Why God Gave You Specific Grace for Specific People

by Rick

Today, we continue our series entitled “Living the Grace Life,” where we will learn to embrace and walk in God’s unmerited, unearned, and often undeserved favor throughout 2025.

As part of this series, I am teaching a verse-by-verse exposition of the book of Galatians. Let’s get into it.

Key scriptures for this year:

2 Corinthians 9:8 TPT
“Yes, God is more than ready to overwhelm you with every form of grace, so that you will have more than enough of everything—every moment and in every way. He will make you overflow with abundance in every good thing you do.”

Galatians 5:4 TPT
“If you want to be made right with God by fulfilling the obligations of the law, you have cut off more than your flesh—you have cut yourselves off from Christ and have fallen away from the revelation of grace!”

Romans 6:14 ERV
“Sin will not be your master, because you are not under law. You now live under God’s grace.”

1 Corinthians 15:10 NIV
“But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.”

Scripture(s) we will study today:

Galatians 2:7 TPT
“But on the contrary, they saw that I had been entrusted with the gospel for the uncircumcised, just as Peter had been entrusted with the gospel for the circumcised.”

Ephesians 2:10 ERV
“We are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”

1 Peter 4:10 TPT
“Faithfully use the gift you’ve received to serve others, as good managers of God’s diverse gifts of grace.”

Setting the Stage:

In our last message, we learned that God has entrusted you with a specific assignment that fits perfectly into His Kingdom strategy. We discovered that God reveals HIs assignment to you by grace (which requires you to believe and receive it by faith), and He then empowers you to excel in it, also by grace.  This grace on your life for your divine assignment connects you to God’s larger plan.

Today, I want to take this revelation deeper.  The same scripture, Galatians 2:7, reveals something profound about how God’s grace operates in your life. Paul was entrusted with the gospel for the uncircumcised, and Peter was entrusted with the gospel for the circumcised. But here’s what I want you to see: The grace that empowered their assignments was specifically designed and custom-fitted for maximum impact in their unique spheres.

Your grace assignment isn’t just different from everyone else’s—it’s custom-designed by God to produce maximum impact through your unique combination of personality, experiences, relationships, and calling. God doesn’t give generic grace for generic assignments.  He gives specific grace for specific purposes.

So, what does this mean to you today?  A few things.

1. God Gives You Grace that is Customized To You Based on Your Unique Design and His Unique Plan For Your Life.

Paul’s assignment to the Gentiles wasn’t random.  It was perfectly matched to who God created him to be. His background as a Roman citizen, his education under Gamaliel, his knowledge of Jewish Law, and even his experience as a persecutor all became assets in his assignmentGod gave Paul grace that was specifically customized to him based on his unique design and God’s unique plan for his life.

How this applies to you:

— When people ask me about how they can discover their purpose, I walk them through a series of things to consider.  One of them is their personality type.  I want you to know that your personality type is not an accident.  There are some things that you are “wired” to do or to be like because they fit perfectly with what you are called to do. Whether you’re introverted or extroverted, analytical or creative, mercy-driven or results-oriented, God factored all of this into your custom assignment.

— God is able to take your educational background, work experience, and the skills you have developed and transform them as tools for your divine assignmentNothing in your background is wasted when God’s grace gets involved.

The desires of your heart, when they’re aligned with God’s will, are often clues to your assignment. God puts passion in your heart for what He’s called you to do.  Pay attention to what stirs you and what breaks your heart.

— The relationships you’ve built, the places you’ve lived, and the experiences you’ve had are all part of your preparation for what God has called you to do.  Your personal network is part of the territory you are assigned to in the Kingdom.

— Your assignment will feel natural to you because grace provides both the desire and the ability.  When you’re walking in your grace assignment, it won’t feel like work—it will feel like you’re finally doing what you were born to do.

— The struggles you’ve overcome and the victories you’ve experienced give you credibility and empathy for the people you’re called to influence.  Your tests become your testimony, and your mess becomes your message.  I was just at a men’s conference, and a Pastor friend of mine shared how he faced and overcame prostate cancer.  As painful as it was, God is now using him and his story to gain access to the Red Cross, local news stations, and other media outlets so he can share his story, raise awareness about it, and also glorify God in the process.  He said that he did not realize how many people he was going to reach after going through it.

— I have shared with you before that when Isabella and I went through a miscarriage, it was painful, but God has used Isabella (because of her experience and how she can share her story authentically) to minister to countless women over the years.

When I was still in the military, God led me to get an MBA with an emphasis on nonprofits.  When He did, I thought I was just picking something I was interested in.  I did not know that I would be running both a business and a ministry when I retired.  My military background, business understanding, government interactions, and ministry calling have all prepared me for what I’m doing now at Inspired Solutions and RIPMinistries.  Your unique experiences aren’t accidents – they’re your custom preparation for your divine assignment.  Even decisions that you are led to make, like the one I did, that may not seem important at the time wind up being critical later because they prepared you for a future you did not imagine.

2. There are Specific People You are Called to Reach, and God Has Given You the Grace to Do So.

Paul could reach Gentiles that the other apostles couldn’t reach because God had given him specific grace to reach specific people. Peter could reach Jews that Paul might not have been able to reach as effectively.  There are specific people you are called to reach, and God has given you the grace to do so.

How this applies to you:

There are people waiting for you who will only respond to the unique way you present the gospel, whether that’s through your business, your family, your ministry, or your community involvement.

— Your cultural background, language, and life experiences position you to connect with people who might not respond to someone with a different background.  God strategically placed you where you are.

— The industry you work in, the neighborhood you live in, and the circles you run in are all part of your assignment territory.  You have access to people that other believers may never encounter.

— Your communication style and approach to relationships are perfectly designed to reach the people God has assigned to you.  Don’t try to change your style to be like someone else—God gave you your style for a reason.  I preach the way that I preach with confidence because I know there are people who are going to receive it the way that I share it becuase I am called to them, and they are assigned to me.

The problems you’re passionate about solving and the causes that ignite a fire in your heart connect you to people who share those same concerns. The burden God has given you for certain things becomes your bridge to influence certain people.

— Your testimony and life story will resonate with people who have similar experiences.  What you’ve been through qualifies you to help others who are going through similar situations.

— God has taken my upbringing in a multicultural and multiethnic environment where I had to navigate through different groups of people (many times being the only person who was authorized to go in and out of groups where they did not allow outsiders into), and He now uses preparation to reach people of all backgrounds

— Since I was raised on welfare and now have access to a socio-economic status that was foreign to me as a child, my ministry reaches people of all races, socio-economic backgrounds, and levels of education.  That’s not an accident.

— Since God has exposed me to the Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, Pentecostal, Church of God, Church of Christ, Church of God in Christ, and Non-Denominational churches, and since God has used me in churches that are predominantly Hispanic, African American, and Caucasian, I am able to reach people with all sorts of church and life backgrounds.  That’s not an accident.

— I also served in the Army, which provided me with a unique background; I am a son of immigrants, which gives me that background and perspective, and I am an IT professional, so I have that background.  The point is that God uses ALL OF IT.  I am not a mistake, and neither are you.  We are uniquely prepared and called.  God has been preparing all your life, and now He wants to use you to reach the people you are called and anointed to reach.  Will you let Him?

3. Grace Multiplies Your Impact Through Your Unique Sphere of Influence.

Paul’s influence among the Gentiles multiplied because grace amplified his natural abilities and divine callingWhen grace is on your assignment, your impact is multiplied far beyond your natural capacity. One person walking in grace can affect thousands, and sometimes millions, of lives.

How this applies to you:

Grace gives you supernatural favor with the people you’re called to influence. Doors open, relationships form, and opportunities arise that you could never create in your own strength.  This is the grace of God, and it is connected to your purpose.

Your assignment has a ripple effect that goes far beyond what you can see.  The people you impact will impact others, creating multi-generational influence through your obedience.

The platforms and opportunities that come your way are not coincidences. They are grace-driven opportunities to expand your influence.  Say yes to what aligns with your assignment, even if you have to do it by faith becuase you don’t understand it at the moment.

Grace multiplies your resources for your assignment.  The money, time, energy, and connections you need will be provided as you step out in faith.  Your assignment is already funded by grace, but you must have the faith to launch out and position yourself to receive it.

Your influence will grow as you’re faithful to what God has currently entrusted to you.  Small beginnings lead to significant impact when grace is involved and when you are faithful over time.

4. Operating in the Uniqueness of God’s Grace on Your Life Will Deliver You from Comparison and Competition.

Paul didn’t compete with Peter, and Peter didn’t compete with Paul because they understood that God had given them different grace for different purposesWhen you operate in the uniqueness of God’s grace on your life, it will deliver you from comparison and competition with other believers.

How this applies to you:

Your assignment is yours alone, so you are not competing with anyone. No one else can fulfill it the way you can, and you can’t fulfill anyone else’s assignment the way they can.  There’s no competition in the Kingdom of God.

Comparing your assignment to someone else’s assignment is like comparing a hammer to a screwdriver.  Both are necessary, but they have completely different functions.  Your assignment is perfectly designed for what God wants to accomplish through you.

Grace gives you security in your calling. You don’t have to prove anything to anyone because God’s entrustment of your assignment is your validation. You belong where grace has placed you, and the peace you have in your heart will not be disrupted by the questions of those who don’t understand what you are called to do.

When you have peace in your heart and you are settled in your assignment, you are free to celebrate other people’s success without feeling threatened. Why? Because you know their success doesn’t diminish your opportunities.  There’s room for everyone to succeed in their grace assignments.

Your timeline is your timeline. Resting in God’s grace will give you the permission and peace to develop at your own pace. Say, “I have the persmission and peace to develop at my own pace.”

Your assignment will look like you—your personality, your style, your approach.  Don’t try to copy someone else’s method because you are not called to be them. Let God’s grace work through your uniqueness. The same people you may have been jealous of in the past because of your own insecurities wind up blown away by what God has called you to do once you embrace the grace for it.

Declaration of Faith:

Father, I thank You for giving me grace for an assignment that is custom-designed specifically for me and for maximum impact.

My personality, experiences, and relationships are perfectly designed for what You have called me to do.

I stop comparing my assignment to others and embrace my unique calling.

There are people waiting for me who will only respond to my unique way of carrying the gospel.

Grace supernaturally multiplies my impact far beyond my natural capacity.

I celebrate others while walking confidently in my own assignment.

My assignment is entrusted to me by grace, and I have everything I need to fulfill it.

I let my assignment look like me—my style, my approach, my personality.

I am living THE GRACE LIFE and GREATER IS COMING FOR ME as I walk in the uniqueness of my calling!

I declare this by faith. In Jesus’ name. Amen!

This is Today’s Word! Apply it and Prosper!
