Grace in Galatians (Part 55): Speaking TO Your Mountains Like Jesus

by Rick

Today, we continue our series entitled “Living the Grace Life,” where we will learn to embrace and walk in God’s unmerited, unearned, and often undeserved favor throughout 2025.

As part of this series, I am teaching a verse-by-verse exposition of the book of Galatians.

Key scriptures for this year:

2 Corinthians 9:8 TPT

“Yes, God is more than ready to overwhelm you with every form of grace, so that you will have more than enough of everything—every moment and in every way. He will make you overflow with abundance in every good thing you do.”

Galatians 5:4 TPT

“If you want to be made right with God by fulfilling the obligations of the law, you have cut off more than your flesh—you have cut yourselves off from Christ and have fallen away from the revelation of grace!”

Romans 6:14 ERV

“Sin will not be your master, because you are not under law. You now live under God’s grace.”

1 Corinthians 15:10 CEV

“But God treated me with undeserved grace! He made me what I am, and his grace wasn’t wasted. I worked much harder than any of the other apostles, although it was really God’s grace at work and not me.”

Scripture(s) we will study today:

Galatians 3:2 TPT

“So answer me this: Did the Holy Spirit come to you as a reward for keeping Jewish laws? No, you received him as a gift because you believed in the Messiah.”

Mark 11:23 NKJV

“And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”

John 14:12 TPT

“I tell you this timeless truth: The person who follows me in faith, believing in me, will do the same mighty miracles that I do—even greater miracles than these because I go to be with my Father!”

2 Corinthians 4:13 KJV

“We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;”

Mark 4:39 NKJV

“Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm..”

Setting the Stage:

In our last message, I addressed the fact that faith has a language, and we must all learn to speak it fluently to access what grace has already provided. Today, I want to take this deeper and show you HOW to speak the language of faith effectively, by following Jesus’ example of speaking TO your mountains.

As believers, we must stop talking ABOUT our problems. Instead, by faith, we must learn to speak TO our problems. In other words, instead of just describing your mountains to God and your friends, learn to speak God’s Word TO the mountains you face. This is what Jesus demonstrated throughout His ministry.

Jesus is our perfect example. He was God in the flesh, but He chose to live as a man filled with the Holy Spirit. In this way, He showed us exactly how to exercise the language of faith. When Jesus faced storms, sickness, death, or demons, He didn’t pray about them; He spoke TO them with authority. This is the pattern He left for us to follow.

Jesus gave us a clear pattern in Mark 11:23. He didn’t say pray about the mountain. He didn’t say complain about the mountain. He said speak TO the mountain with faith and watch it move. This is how Jesus lived, and this is how He calls us to live.

So what does this mean to you today? A few things.

1. Jesus Modeled Speaking TO Circumstances, Not ABOUT Them; And We Must Follow His Example.

Jesus didn’t just teach about speaking to mountains; He demonstrated it repeatedly. In Mark 4:39, when the storm threatened to sink the boat, Jesus stood up and rebuked the storm, saying, “Peace, be still!” He didn’t pray about the storm. He didn’t ask the Father to calm the storm. He spoke directly TO the storm with authority.

When Jesus encountered the man with the withered hand, He didn’t pray about the condition. He spoke TO the man: “Stretch out your hand” (Mark 3:5). When He faced death at Lazarus’ tomb, He didn’t pray about death’s power. He spoke TO death: “Lazarus, come forth!” (John 11:43). This is our model!

How this applies to you:

— While our focus should no longer be on keeping The Law, I am making the point that not living under The Law does not mean WE DO NOTHING. What it means is that we are called and commanded, as New Covenant (the Covenant of Grace) believers, to walk and live by faith.

— Jesus shows us that speaking TO problems is not a form of arrogance (I say this because some people think, “Who am I to act like Jesus?”). No, it is an expression of our faith in God and the example Jesus left for us to follow.

— When you follow Jesus’ example and speak directly TO your circumstances, you’re operating in the authority He demonstrated and delegated to you.

— The language of faith addresses the problem directly with God’s solution, just as Jesus did. Instead of saying, “I’m so sick,” follow Jesus’ pattern and speak to the sickness: “Sickness, you have no power over me. By His stripes I am healed now, because the Bible said I was healed in 1 Peter 2:24, and that was written 2,000 years ago.”

— Jesus spent minimal time describing problems and maximum time declaring solutions. In every miracle, notice how quickly Jesus moved from acknowledging the issue to speaking the answer. This is our pattern.

— When financial pressure comes, don’t spend hours telling God how broke you are or how bad the situation is. God already knows. That is a waste of time and a detriment to your faith. Instead, do what Jesus would do: speak to the financial mountain. Say, “Father, You are the Lord of the Harvest and You will see to it that I reap a harvest on every seed sown. I have seed in the ground. I have given and Your Word says that people will give unto me; good measure, pressed down, and running over. You are my source! You supply all my need according to His riches in glory. I do not have fear in running out. I have faith in running over!” And you then leave that prayer with your heart open to receive the resources as God releases them, and the wisdom to know what to do with them when you do.

— Jesus never begged the Father for what was already His by divine authority. He knew His position as Son and spoke from that position. You have that same position in Christ; use it! As Jesus is, so are you, in this world (1 John 4:17).

— Every time Jesus spoke to circumstances, they obeyed. When you speak the language of faith to your mountains as Jesus did, you’re accessing the same grace (power) that Jesus accessed.

— You actually have the same faith Jesus had. God dealt to you THE measure of faith (Rom 12:3), and you get to live by the faith OF Jesus (Gal 2:20). Not only that, but you are filled with the same Holy Spirit. So, you are to live the way Jesus lived!

— Jesus said in John 14:12 that you would do the same works He did and even greater. This includes speaking TO circumstances with the same authority He demonstrated. Stop being a reporter of problems and become a speaker of solutions, like Jesus was.

— I will close this point with something I cannot stand. It really bothers me when a Christian says, “Well, I am not Jesus. God knows.” What they are implying is that they cannot live like Jesus lived because: 1) they are not Jesus, and 2) Jesus was on another level. There are several problems with this mindset.

I will address a few:

  — Jesus did not operate as God while He was in human form. If He did, then He could never be an example OF us or FOR us, because we have no way of being God.

  — If Jesus operated as God while He was in the flesh, then it is true that none of us could do what He did, because we are humans and not gods.

  — If Jesus operated as God while He was in the flesh, then a large portion of what He taught would be wrong. But the truth is that Jesus operated as a human who was filled with the Holy Spirit. He had to be led by the same Holy Spirit we have. In this way, He is our perfect example. So, stop saying, “Well, I am not Jesus.” And start saying, “As Jesus is, so am I, in this world!

  — You have the grace to live like Jesus lived on the earth!

2. Jesus Prayed from a Position of Completed Work; Teaching Us to Access What Grace Has Already Provided.

Study Jesus’ prayer life carefully. He never prayed from desperation or need. Even at Lazarus’ tomb, Jesus prayed, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. And I know that You always hear Me” (John 11:41-42). He was praying from a position of what was already accomplished in heaven, not trying to convince God to act.

Jesus lived with the constant awareness that everything He needed was already provided by the Father’s grace. He said, “The Son can do nothing of Himself, but He does what He sees the Father do” (John 5:19). He wasn’t creating miracles; He was manifesting what the Father had already accomplished.

How this applies to you:

— Like Jesus, your confession is not trying to get God to do something; it’s accessing what God has already done. When you speak the language of faith, you’re positioning yourself to receive what grace has already made available, just as Jesus did.

— Jesus’ daily confession included His identity, His purpose, and His authority. Your daily confession should include what God says about your identity, your purpose, your health, your provision, and your future. This is how you position yourself daily to access grace.

— Jesus spoke from the perspective of “It is finished” even before the cross. The language of faith says, “I have” not “I hope to have.” Grace has already given you everything that pertains to life and godliness. Your confession should reflect that reality.

— When Jesus healed the sick, He often said, “Your faith has made you whole.” He recognized that faith was accessing what grace had already provided. When you consistently speak the language of faith, you’re doing the same thing.

— Jesus never waited until He saw the manifestation to declare the truth. At the feeding of the 5,000, He gave thanks for provision BEFORE it multiplied. Don’t wait until you see the manifestation to speak the language of faith; speak it until you see the manifestation.

— Jesus’ confession was always based on what the Father revealed, not on what circumstances showed. Your confession should be based on what God’s Word says and what the Holy Spirit is saying, not on what your current situation looks like.

— Jesus made daily declarations of His divine purpose and identity. “I must be about My Father’s business” (Luke 2:49). Make daily declarations of what grace has already accomplished in your life. This is how you stay positioned to receive everything grace has stored up for you.

— If this is not how you are living today, it is time to change your mindset and your confession.

3. Jesus Released Supernatural Power Through His Words; And He’s Given You the Same Authority.

Jesus understood that words carry creative power. He said, “The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life” (John 6:63). Every word Jesus spoke was backed by the supernatural power of grace. He didn’t speak idle words.

Consider this: Jesus is the Word made flesh (John 1:14), and He created all things by speaking (Hebrews 11:3). When He spoke TO circumstances in His earthly ministry, He’s given you access to that same power!

How this applies to you:

— When you speak the language of faith like Jesus did, you’re not just making positive statements; you’re releasing spiritual power. Jesus said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move” (Matthew 17:20).

— Every time you speak God’s Word over your situation as Jesus did, you’re releasing the same power that created the universe into your circumstances. This is how grace operates through faith.

— Jesus demonstrated that supernatural breakthrough comes when you speak the language of faith in the face of contradictory circumstances. When He spoke, “Peace, be still” to the storm, the circumstances were screaming chaos. The wind was still blowing. The waves were still crashing. He did not wait for the circumstances to change to speak. He spoke TO the circumstances. This is how we are supposed to live.

— At the tomb of Lazarus, the body had been dead for four days, and it was stinking. Yet Jesus spoke life. Don’t wait for your circumstances to line up before you speak the language of faith.

— Jesus’ words created supernatural expectation, and they released the power of God. When He spoke, demons fled, sickness left, and death reversed. What are you saying with your lips? What type of power are you releasing with your words?

4. Jesus Was Not Just An Example FOR Us, He Was An Example OF Us!

Jesus didn’t operate as God on earth; He operated as a man filled with God. 2 Peter 1:1 tells us we have “obtained like precious faith”; the same faith Jesus had! He was our example FOR us, showing us how to live, but more importantly, He was an example OF us, showing what’s possible when a human being fully yields to God’s grace.

Jesus even said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself” (John 5:19). If Jesus, the Son of God, said He could do nothing of Himself, He was showing us that His power came from His connection to the Father through faith; the same connection available to you! He was demonstrating what you can do when you operate the same way He did.

How this applies to you:

— Jesus lived by faith, not by sight, choosing to believe the Father’s revelation over physical information. You have that same ability to choose faith over circumstances, to speak to mountains rather than about them.

— When Jesus said, “He who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do” (John 14:12), He wasn’t speaking theoretically. He was declaring that the same grace that empowered Him empowers you.

— Jesus’ earthly ministry was the prototype for your life. Every miracle He performed, every mountain He moved, every word He spoke with authority; these weren’t exceptions but examples of what’s available to every believer.

— The same Holy Spirit that empowered Jesus’ words empowers yours. Jesus said, “It is the Spirit who gives life” (John 6:63).

— Jesus didn’t have a different quality of faith than what’s available to you. He simply used His faith consistently, speaking TO circumstances rather than ABOUT them. Your faith has the same potential when activated through the language of faith.

— Jesus showed us that being human doesn’t disqualify us from supernatural living. He embraced human limitations yet operated in divine power through faith. You can do the same!

That’s enough for today.

Declaration of Faith:

Father, I declare that like Jesus, I speak TO my mountains, not ABOUT them!

I address any problem that arises directly, with Your Word.

Like Jesus spoke to storms, I speak to the storms in my life, and they must obey.

Like Jesus spoke to sickness, I speak to sickness, and it must leave.

Like Jesus spoke to lack, I speak to provision, and it must manifest.

I don’t pray from desperation; I pray from a position of grace, knowing it’s already done!

My confession positions me to receive what grace has already accomplished.

I declare what You say about my identity, my purpose, my health, my provision, and my future.

I have the same faith Jesus had, and I choose to use it like He did!

My words carry the authority of grace to change my circumstances.

I am positioned to receive, empowered to overcome, and destined to succeed because grace has already provided everything I need.

I am living #TheGraceLife and GREATER IS COMING FOR ME!

I declare this by faith. In Jesus’ name. Amen!

This is Today’s Word! Apply it and Prosper!
