Monday, I started a new series entitled “God is faithful!” I shared with you that Sunday, while I was in church, the worship team sang “Yes and Amen” by Bethel music. Here are some of the lyrics that I kept meditating on from that song:
Faithful, You are
Faithful, forever, You will be
Faithful, You are
All Your promises are Yes and Amen
All Your promises are Yes and Amen
The song is based on 2 Corinthians 1:20. We looked at this verse yesterday. Let’s go back to it again today and take a deeper look.
(2 Corinthians 1:20 NIV)
For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God
(2 Corinthians 1:20 TPT)
For all of God’s promises find their “yes” of fulfillment in him. And as his “yes” and our “amen” ascend to God, we bring him glory!
So what does this mean for you today? A few things.
1. God’s promises find their “yes” of fulfillment in Him!
2 Corinthians 1:20 says, “For all of God’s promises find their “yes” of fulfillment in him.”
— God gives us promises. These promises are connected to what He planned to do in our lives before the world began. These promises will be SO big, that if God does not do what He promised, it won’t get done.
— God calls us to do things we cannot do without Him. This does several things:
a) It puts us in a position where we have to believe God. Basically, it puts us in a position of faith.
b) It puts us in a position where we have to rely on Him. God loves it when we live with an expectation that can only be fulfilled by His amazing power.
c) It puts us in a position where we can become a conduit of heaven on earth. When God does what we clearly cannot do, through us, on this planet, people are able to get a glimpse of heaven on earth. This is important because every Born-Again believer is going to heave someday. But God wants us to live by faith, to the point where we bring heaven to the earth every day!
d) It makes us conduits of God’s glory. When God does something, through you, that everyone knows you could not do, we are all left with no other option but to give God praise! All we can do is acknowledge that God uses flawed people in supernatural ways!
— If you have a promise in your heart that seems impossible, that seems like it is so far-fetched that you could never make it happen, then that promise may have come from God. If it did, He is more than capable of bringing it to pass in your life. But you must die to self. If there is too much of YOU in the way, you will come up with all the reasons why it is NOT going to happen. You will be so focused on YOU that you fail to focus on the GOD IN YOU. If you ever die to self and die to your limits, you will experience the faithfulness of God. He will do what He said He would do in (and through) your life. He will do it by His grace. He will do it for His glory!
2. God’s promise will not be fulfilled in your life without your “AMEN!”
— God gives us great and precious promises. These promises are tied to His purpose for our lives. This is a purpose He established before we were born. When He reveals His purpose and the promises associated with it, He expects us to believe and receive what He said by faith.
— Our text (2 Cor 1:20) teaches us that every promise from God has a “YES,” from God, on it already. God would not give you the promise if He were not willing to perform it. But while the “YES” has come from God, the text teaches us that the “AMEN” must come from us!
— When God reveals His plans for your life, He is looking for you to agree with them. Your AMEN is your statement of agreement.
— God does not want your life to be about you and your selfish desires. God wants your life to be about Him and the plans He made for you before the world began.
— If you can ever get to the point where ALL YOU WANT is what GOD WANTS for your life, then you will be willing to put an AMEN on everything the Holy Spirit leads you to do. You will say, “AMEN” to God, setting your faith in agreement with Him, even when it costs you something, even when it goes against what you wanted to do, and even when it is something you don’t want to do!
— If you are willing to say “AMEN” to God’s will and put His will above your own, your life will become all about God, and He will be able to do what He planned to do in, with, and through you!
— When you consciously make an alignment with your divine assignment, and you adjust your will to submit to God’s will for your life, you find that you start to like what God likes, hate what God hates, and think as God thinks. Once you start living this way, it will be easy for you to be an AMEN on everything the Holy Spirit says to you.
— For years, my understanding of faith was flawed. Based on the way I was taught when I was first Born-Again, I thought I could “name and claim,” “believe and receive,” and “decree and declare” whatever I wanted, just as long as I released my faith for it in my heart. Sometimes it worked. Many times it didn’t. The problem with my approach at the time (this is my experience, and I am not going to talk about others) was that there was too much humanity in it. I was selfish, making a demand on God for whatever I wanted, and I thought that was faith. As I studied God’s grace and the Holy Spirit ministered to me about it, I learned a few things:
a) There can be no human faith where God has not already provided His grace. This means that God does give us something because we released our faith. God wants us to discover what He already gave us by grace. Once we know what He has already planned, then we can release our faith for it. In this way, God is not giving us something because we released our faith. We are only releasing our faith because we believe it is already provided.
b) Faith requires submission and surrender. Faith is about dying to self and selfishness, so you can live the life God planned.
c) Our text teaches us that God has given us promises. These promises align with Him will for our lives. These promises come with a YES from God. These promises require an AMEN from us! God provides the YES. We provide the AMEN. In this way, we agree with God and what He already planned to do in our lives. This is how our lives become all about HIM!
That’s enough for today.
Declaration of Faith:
Father, I thank You for leading me to LEVEL UP in this season. I LEVEL UP by putting You will above my own. I LEVEL UP by dying to sin, self, and selfishness. I LEVEL UP by making my life ALL ABOUT YOU and the plans You made for me before the world began. You have given me great and precious promises. These promises came with a “YES” from You! You have already said, “YES!” Now I say, “AMEN!” I put an AMEN on every promise. Living this way, I know GREATER IS COMING FOR ME! I declare this by faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
This is Today’s Word! Apply it and Prosper.
