This morning, we continue our series, “The Miracles of Jesus.”
Before we get into the miracle, let’s look at the foundational scripture I will share be sharing with you all year.

Now, Lord, do it again! Restore us to our former glory! May streams of your refreshing flow over us until our dry hearts are drenched again.
This is a season of refreshing and restoring for us. I pray you get refreshed and restored as we study each miracle.
(Matthew 9:27-31 NIV)
27 As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, calling out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!”
28 When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?”
“Yes, Lord,” they replied.
29 Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be done to you”;
30 and their sight was restored. Jesus warned them sternly, “See that no one knows about this.”
31 But they went out and spread the news about him all over that region.
(Matthew 9:27-31 TPT)
27 As Jesus left the house, two blind men began following him, shouting out over and over, “Son of David, show us mercy and heal us!”
28 And they followed him right into the house where Jesus was staying. So Jesus asked them, “Do you believe that I have the power to restore sight to your eyes?” They replied, “Yes Lord, we believe!”
29 Then Jesus put his hands over their eyes and said, “You will have what your faith expects!”
30 And instantly their eyes opened—they could see! Then Jesus warned them sternly, “Make sure that you tell no one what just happened!”
31 But unable to contain themselves, they went out and spread the news everywhere!
So what does this mean for you today? This is one of those situations where there is little in the text. If you read it, it sounds like Jesus met two blind men, they cried out, and He healed them. That’s it. But there is always something we can glean from God’s Word. Let’s get into it.
1. The two blind men acknowledged Jesus’ deity.
(v.27) As Jesus left the house, two blind men began following him, shouting out over and over, “Son of David, show us mercy and heal us!”
Notice that they called Jesus the “Son of David.” This phrase is an obvious messianic term. They were basically saying, “Jesus, you are the Son of David we have been waiting for. We believe that you are the Messiah!“
If you pay attention to the scripture, you will notice that Jesus was often addressed as either “Jesus, the Son of David” or “Jesus of Nazareth.” Nazareth was basically a ghetto back then. So, those who addressed Jesus as “Jesus of Nazareth” were relating Jesus to His history (and not a nice place). But those who called Jesus the “Son of David” were relating Jesus to HIs destiny.
I will point out that no one who called Jesus “Jesus of Nazareth” ever received healing or anything else from Him. For you to receive from Jesus, you must honor Him.
It has been said, and I agree, that faith is the currency of the Kingdom of God. While faith may be the currency, honor is the culture. To operate in the kingdom of God, you must be a man and a woman of honor. If you don’t honor God, you won’t get anything from Him.
2. To receive from God, you cannot be quick to give up.
(v.28) And they followed him right into the house where Jesus was staying…
Notice how Jesus did not respond to the blind men initially. They were blind, they were calling out to Jesus for help, but Jesus had just been through a long day. That day Jesus taught many parables, He got into the boat and dealt with the storm, He cast out a legion of demons, He got back into the boat and went back to the crowd, He healed the woman with the issue of blood on the way to Jairus’ house, and He raised Jairus’ daughter from the dead when He got there. After all of that, Jesus was just ready to go lay down. On the way to the house where He was staying, these two blind men cried out to Jesus for help. Jesus did not say a thing. Jesus just went into the house. It was like Jesus just wanted to get some sleep. But these two blind men follow Jesus into the house.
This reminds me of the woman in Luke 18. This woman was done wrong, and she kept going to a judge to ask the judge to right her wrong. The judge ignored her. But she kept asking. She followed the judge around. She kept asking The judge to do something about her situation. And she asked so many times that the judge just had to stop and give the woman what she wanted. That’s the context for the statement when Jesus said, “Men should always pray and never give up.” Jesus was saying, “When you need something from God and you making your petition to Him, you should be like this woman. Be persistent. Never give up!“
That’s what these two blind men did. They refused to give up. They were blind; they saw an opportunity (obviously not with their eyes), to get healed, and they were not going to let their chance with Jesus get away from them. They followed Jesus into the house.
If you want to receive from God, you are going to have to be persistent. Far too many believers today quit before their breakthrough just because God did not do what they wanted when they wanted it or the way they wanted it. While you are waiting on God, you must remember that God is God.
— He knows what His plans are.
— His timing is perfect.
— He will not allow you to rush Him.
— He will require you to remain in faith long enough to receive His best.
— He sees lots of people come, ask for things that actually align with His will, but then fail to receive it because they give up before their season of harvest comes due.
The Bible says, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9).
3. To receive from God, you must make your request known!
The two blind men kept crying out to Jesus, saying, “Son of David, show us mercy and heal us!”
They wanted their healing, and they asked for it!

…You don’t get what you want because you don’t ask God for it. And when you do ask he doesn’t give it to you, for you ask in quite the wrong spirit – you only want to satisfy your own desires.
— The Father knows what you have need of before you ask (Mat 6:8). Actually, He knew before the foundations of the world.
— God requires you to ask (to agree with Him).
— God requires you to ask in-faith, without a doubt, without wavering!
— God requires you to ask in accordance with His will!
The two blind men followed Jesus, and they ASKED for what they wanted from Him. Have you asked God yet? You think you are waiting on God. He may be waiting on you to ask!
4. Sometimes, you need a prayer partner.
The two blind men in the text did everything together!
— They called out to Jesus together!
— They made their request known together!
— They followed Jesus into the house together!
— And they got healed TOGETHER!
— This is one of the only miracles where Jesus healed multiple people with the same condition at the same time.
— Sometimes you just need a prayer partner who is going to be in this with WITH YOU!
— You can do more TOGETHER!
Declaration of Faith:
Father, this is a season of refreshing and restoring for me!
As I study the miracles of Jesus, my faith is increased!
I come to You daily, Father, in the name of Jesus. I acknowledge that Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, suffered, bled, died, and was risen from the dead for the remission of my sins. I know who He was, and I acknowledge who He is in my life.
Jesus now gives me access to You, Father, and I come to You in faith, without a doubt, and without wavering. I am persistent in my faith, and I will never give up!
I believe You favor me today, make crooked paths straight, give me preferential treatment, open doors that no man can close, and close doors that no man can open.
I make my requests known to You daily. I pray in faith. I pray in agreement with heaven. And I also pray in agreement with my prayer partners. Living this way, I know GREATER IS COMING FOR ME! I declare this by faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
