Today, we continue our series entitled “Laser Focus,” with the point being that we should live with a Laser Focus on the Fixed Purpose God established for us before the world began.
This is the main scripture we will be looking at this year.
(Proverbs 4:25 TPT)
Set your gaze on the path before you. With fixed purpose, looking straight ahead, ignore life’s distractions.
(1 Peter 1:18-20 NLT)
18 For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value.
19 It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.
20 God chose him as your ransom long before the world began, but now in these last days he has been revealed for your sake.
This passage illuminates the predestined plan of God, not just for Christ as the sacrificial Lamb but for each of us. Just as Christ was chosen before the foundation of the world and revealed in the fullness of time for our salvation, we, too, are part of God’s eternal plan, deployed in this era for a specific purpose. This is both a privilege and a responsibility.
So, what does this mean for you today? A few things.
1. Understanding Our Divine Selection – God Chose You Before the World Began.
— God’s plan for us was established before the creation of the world, reminding us that our lives are not random occurrences but integral to God’s eternal purpose.
— The text we are looking at today, 1 Peter 1:18-20, teaches us that the sacrifice of Jesus was predetermined before time. This teaches us about not only God’s love but also His timing. He sent Jesus to the planet at just the right time.
— Just as Jesus was sent to the planet for His era, our existence in this specific era is by divine design; we are not here by chance but by God’s intentional decision.
— Our “what” and our “when” were determined by God before we were born.
— Acknowledging our predestined purpose helps us grasp the significance of our daily lives as part of a larger, divine narrative.
— This revelation demands a life lived with intentionality, aligning our actions, decisions, and aspirations with God’s eternal plan.
— Understanding our divine selection propels us towards a life of faith, encouraging us to trust in God’s plan even when it’s beyond our comprehension.
— The awareness of being chosen by God instills a sense of divine duty and privilege, motivating us to fulfill our God-given destiny.
2. The Timing of Our Deployment was Intentional.
— Just as Jesus was sent at the perfect time, our arrival in this era is part of God’s precise timing for our lives and His Kingdom.
— Our presence in the here and now is no accident; it’s a strategic placement by God to fulfill specific aspects of His Kingdom agenda.
— The concept of ‘kairos’ moments in Scripture applies to our lives, indicating that we are living in our own ‘kairos’ time.
— “Kairos” is a Greek word that means “the right, critical, or opportune moment.” It differs from the other Greek word for time, “chronos,” which refers to chronological or sequential time. “Kairos” signifies a time laden with purpose and potential—a moment in which God acts or an opportunity is presented for significant change or action in accordance with God’s will.
— In the New Testament, “kairos” is often used to describe the appointed time in the purpose of God, the time when God acts (e.g., Mark 1:15, where Jesus announces that the time has come, the Kingdom of God is at hand). It implies an opportunity or a season that is divinely orchestrated.
— Embracing our role in this generation requires a keen awareness of the fact that our arrival on this planet was divinely orchestrated. God wants to use us now!
— The timing of our deployment underscores the importance of seizing the opportunities God presents to us, knowing that our actions have eternal significance.
— Our generation faces unique challenges and opportunities, and God has equipped us specifically to navigate and impact these times.
— Living with an understanding of God’s timing should motivate us to act with urgency and purpose, making the most of every opportunity for the Kingdom. Why? Becuase this is OUR TIME!
3. Embracing Our Divine Moment in History.
— Understanding that God has deployed us to this planet “for such a time as this” empowers us to live with purpose and passion. We are not here by accident; we are here because the timing was right in God’s calendar for us to make a difference in this generation and era.
— The unique challenges of our era—technological advancements, social media, global connectivity, and cultural shifts—require a specific grace that God has already equipped us with. Our presence in this time is evidence that we have been endowed with the grace to impact this generation effectively.
— As modern-day Daniels, Esthers, and Josephs, we are called to stand firm in our faith while navigating the complexities of our society. Our assignment is to influence our world for Christ, not to be influenced by the world away from Christ.
— The stakes are high in our era, where some sections of the global Church are seeing a stark decline, and the moral compass of many nations is going off course. Yet, God chose us for this age, so we must embrace the grace to be conduits of His light, love, and power in it!
— Our mission involves personal holiness and active engagement in societal transformation. God has placed each of us in specific spheres of influence—whether in business, education, media, arts, government, or family life—to be catalysts for Kingdom principles.
— The grace for this generation includes wisdom to navigate digital spaces as platforms for the Gospel, discernment to engage with cultural trends critically, and courage to stand for truth in the face of opposition.
— Accepting our role in this divine timeline means living intentionally, seizing every opportunity to declare and demonstrate the reality of God’s Kingdom. It’s about leveraging our God-given talents, platforms, and relationships to make an eternal impact, knowing that we were made for such a time as this.
In closing, our generation faces unprecedented challenges but also unprecedented opportunities to showcase the relevance of the Gospel. Our deployment to this era is no mistake; it was part of God’s divine strategy. Let’s embrace this with the seriousness and joy it deserves, committing to fulfill God’s specific purpose for us in this pivotal moment of history.
