Today, we continue our series entitled “Laser Focus,” with the point being that we should live with a Laser Focus on the Fixed Purpose God established for us before the world began.
This is the main scripture we will be looking at this year:
(Proverbs 4:25 TPT)
Set your gaze on the path before you. With fixed purpose, looking straight ahead, ignore life’s distractions.
Today, we will also look at:
(Proverbs 3:3-4 TPT)
Hold on to loyal love and, don’t let go, and be faithful to all that you’ve been taught. Let your life be shaped by integrity, with truth written upon your heart. That’s how you will find favor and understanding with both God and men—you will gain the reputation of living life well.
So, what does this mean to you today? A few things.
1. Honoring God Through Honest Dealings.
— Understand that integrity in business and personal dealings is a direct reflection of our relationship with God. It’s about representing Him faithfully in all aspects of life.
— In Jewish business ethics, the principle of honesty is deeply rooted in the belief that God demands scrupulous behavior in commercial transactions. The Torah (God’s Law) emphasizes the use of honest weights and measures to prevent fraud and ensure fairness in dealings (Deuteronomy 25:13–15). The Bible says, “The Lord your God hates people who cheat with false weights and measures. Yes, he hates all people who do wrong (Deuteronomy 25:16). This honesty is not just a practical approach for repeat business but also a manifestation of yirat shamayim, the fear of heaven. In other words, when you fear God, you do things right in His sight to ensure you are not blocking His blessing in any way.
— Embrace the principle that honesty in transactions is not merely ethical but a form of worship, acknowledging God as the ultimate authority over our lives, resources, and decisions.
— Recognize that dishonesty is a barrier (a blessing-blocker) to God’s favor, as it misaligns our actions with His character. Operating in honesty ensures our lives are open channels for His blessings.
— Acknowledge the power of a clear conscience. Conducting ourselves with integrity allows us to stand before God and people without guilt, inviting God’s presence and favor in our lives.
— Commit to transparency and fairness in all transactions, understanding that this commitment honors God and builds trust with others, thereby enhancing our witness to the world.
— Pray for the courage to maintain integrity even when faced with opportunities for dishonest gain, resisting the temptation for a quick dollar, and trusting that God honors and multiplies the efforts of those who choose His ways.
2. Removing Barriers to Favor by Living Uprightly.
— Acknowledge that sin and disobedience are “blessing blockers” that can hinder God’s favor from flowing freely in our lives.
— Regularly examine your heart and actions in prayer, asking the Holy Spirit to reveal areas where you may be unknowingly resisting God’s will and favor.
— Foster a lifestyle of repentance and humility, quickly addressing any missteps or areas of disobedience to remain in alignment with God’s heart. Many believers today see repentance as a bad thing as if repenting means you are a bad person. No. If you don’t repent regularly, you may not be aware of the ways in which your decisions and actions are not pleasing the Lord.
— Celebrate the grace of God, which empowers us to overcome our shortcomings and live in a manner that attracts His favor.
— Seek wisdom and guidance from God’s Word regularly, letting Biblical principles shape your decisions and actions, ensuring they honor God and invite His favor.
— Adopt a stewardship mindset over an achievement mindset. If you think you are achieving things and making things happen, then you are more likely to walk with God under the guise of performance-based religion. However, if you see yourself as a steward and you see God’s blessings as the result of His grace, then you will thank God for everything and not fall into the trap of relying on your humanity. A grace-based mindset will keep your heart open to His favor.
3. Expecting God’s Favor in Alignment with His Principles.
— Cultivate a daily expectation of God’s favor, not as an entitlement (as if you earned it), but as a natural outcome of living in harmony with His principles and commands.
— Engage in acts of kindness and generosity, mirroring God’s heart and setting the stage for reciprocal favor in your life and the lives of those you impact.
— Pursue excellence in all you do, understanding that God’s favor often follows efforts that honor Him through high standards of performance and integrity. A spirit of excellence attracts favor.
— Remain patient and steadfast in faith, recognizing that God’s timing and methods for releasing His favor may differ from our expectations, but they are always perfect.
— Celebrate every instance of favor, no matter how small, acknowledging it as evidence of God’s ongoing involvement in your life.
— Keep a journal of favor experiences, documenting how aligning with God’s principles has impacted your life, reinforcing your faith and the faith of others. These altars of remembrance will keep you focused, motivated, and in faith during challenging times.
— Share your testimonies of favor with others, encouraging them with the reality that God desires to favor those who honor Him with their lives and decisions. Tell your story and make sure God is the star of it!
