Today, we continue our series entitled “Laser Focus,” emphasizing living with a Laser Focus on the Fixed Purpose God established for us before the world began.
Scriptures we have been looking at all year:
(Proverbs 4:25 TPT)
Set your gaze on the path before you. With fixed purpose, looking straight ahead, ignore life’s distractions.
(James 1:2-4 TPT)
2 My fellow believers, when it seems as though you are facing nothing but difficulties, see it as an invaluable opportunity to experience the greatest joy that you can!
3 For you know that when your faith is tested, it stirs up power within you to endure all things.
4 And then as your endurance grows even stronger it will release perfection into every part of your being until there is nothing missing and nothing lacking.
(Ecc 3:1 ERV)
There is a right time for everything, and everything on earth will happen at the right time.
Focus for today:
Setting the Stage. This is based on 2 Samuel 5:1-5.
We have been studying David’s story for months now. Some of you may be thinking, “How long is this going to take? Wasn’t he anointed by the prophet of God to be the King of the entire nation of Israel?” To which I would say, “Yes, he was anointed to be King of Israel, but no one knows how long the space between the promise and the performance is going to be in any given case.” This is part of the mystery of walking with God. Living by faith is exciting because you don’t always know what is going to happen, how it will happen, or when, but when you know WHO your faith is in, you can have peace and great expectations.
In David’s case, he knew the what. The Lord told him he would be King of Israel, so come hell-or-high water, he was going to be the King of Israel. But the Lord never told him how or when it would happen. This meant that David needed to wait, and he needed to wait in faith, never giving up on the fact that the throne was destined for him. As it relates to living by faith, Paul said, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Gal 6:9). The King James Version calls it a “due season.” I like to say that there is a season when your harvest is due. Your job is to NOT GIVE UP before your season.
David didn’t give up. After Ishbosheth’s death, the leaders of all the tribes of Israel met with David in Hebron and told him, “We are your own flesh and blood. In the past, when Saul was our king, you were the one who really led the forces of Israel. And the LORD told you, ‘You will be the shepherd of my people Israel. You will be Israel’s leader.'” After acknowledging the fact that the throne was ordained for David by God, the elders anointed him King of Israel. David was 30 years old when he took the throne over Judah. He ruled Judah from Hebron for 7.5 years, and he ruled Israel from Jerusalem for 33 years. Most scholars believe David was around 17 years old when the prophet Samuel anointed him to be king. So it took David 13 years to take the first throne and another seven years for the full manifestation of the promise. David waited 20 years for a Word from God to manifest. And it was not an easy 20 years. David endured many trials and heartaches during those 20 years, but God gave him the grace to wait and he blessed David when the season of his harvest was due.
So, what does this mean to you today? A few things:
1. Divine Timing is Perfect Timing.
Unless the Lord tells you when something is going to happen, you won’t know how long the space between the promise and the performance is. But rest assured, there will come a time when your harvest is due. You have a “due season.” Your job is to continue running your race with your grace while waiting for the season to come due. You may not know when, but if your faith is in the WHO — meaning, your faith is in God, and not in man or even in yourself — then you will keep your faith switch in the “ON” position while you wait.
How this applies to you:
— Trust God’s timing, even when the waiting seems endless or unreasonable.
— Keep your eyes fixed on God’s promise rather than the length of time you’ve been waiting. Your focus matters. Which is why I have told you all year not to be distracted (Prov 4:25 TPT).
— Remember that God’s delays are not denials – they are often divine setups. When it finally happens, you will realize how perfect God’s timing is.
— Use the waiting period to develop the character needed to handle the blessing. You must be processed to be able to handle the weight of the blessing.
— Stay faithful over the small things while waiting for the bigger promises. David was faithful over the 400 men, then 600 men, then Judah, all before he was finally given all of Israel.
— As you remain in faith (in your heart) and faithful (in your conduct), every day will bring you incrementally closer to God’s overall promise!
2. The Mystery Behind God’s Process.
David’s 20-year journey from shepherd boy to king wasn’t just about waiting – it was about preparation. During those years, he learned warfare, leadership, humility, how to handle betrayal, how to spare his enemies, and how to depend on God. By the time he took the throne, he had developed the character and skills needed to be Israel’s greatest king. The process was as important as the promise.
How this applies to you:
— Embrace the preparation process as much as you anticipate the promise. This may require you to change your mindset, but if you do, it will empower you to enjoy your waiting season instead of just enduring it with a heart full of bitterness and frustration.
— When you know God is developing your character during the waiting period, you embrace the process, and you shift your attitude.
— Learn from every experience, knowing it’s preparing you for something greater.
— While the world is always looking for “get rich quick” schemes or ways to bypass the process, remember that in God’s Kingdom, shortcuts often short-circuit God’s development process. And if you are not ready, God will not release the fullness of The Blessing.
— The process is required for the fullness of the promise to be released!
3. Patience Produces Persistence.
I am convinced that many believers quit before their season is due. Now, in most cases, they still reap the harvest, but they wind up reaping it much later because unbelief and a lack of faith do cause a delay. You may not be denied, but you will surely be delayed if you give up before your time. That’s why I keep telling you to never give up, cave in, or quit. Sooner or later, your season of harvest will be due, and if your faith switch is in the “ON” position when it is, you will walk into your blessing.
How this applies to you:
— You cannot be moved by what you see (in the natural), you can only be moved by what God said.
— Maintain your confession of faith even when circumstances haven’t changed. In other words, don’t allow what you see (in the natural) to cause you to change what you are saying about God’s promise.
— Keep serving God faithfully while waiting, like David did in Hebron.
— Feed your faith daily with God’s Word so you can maintain your persistence through every season.
— Stand immovable on God’s promise, knowing that wavering faith leads to delayed manifestation.
4. The Wait Enhances the Weight.
You may have an idea of the “what” while you are waiting for it, but when it finally comes, God’s “what” is often way better than the “what” you imagined. Paul said it this way, “God is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask, think or imagine” (Eph 3:20). God has a way of ‘blessings your socks off.’ So keep believing and never give up. When you finally get it, it will more-than-likely be much better than you ever imagined.
How this applies to you:
— Trust that God’s version of your blessing will exceed your expectations.
— Know that the waiting period is preparing you for something greater than you imagined.
— Use the waiting time to expand your capacity to receive.
— Keep your heart pure and free from bitterness while you wait.
— Focus on God’s faithfulness rather than the timeline you came up with in your head.
— Keep your heart OPEN to God, knowing that when it finally happens, it will be greater than your dreams.
5. The Season of Manifestation.
When God’s appointed time arrives, everything aligns perfectly. Just as the elders of Israel came to David at Hebron, acknowledging both God’s sovereign hand and David’s proven leadership, your promise will manifest at just the right time. This isn’t just about waiting; it’s about divine orchestration. While you are waiting, God is working. He’s preparing you, preparing others, preparing circumstances, and perfectly orchestrating every detail. When your season of manifestation arrives, you’ll understand why God made you wait. You’ll see that He wasn’t just making you wait – He was working behind the scenes, setting everything in perfect order.
In David’s case, God had to prepare the hearts of the people, remove opposition, develop David’s leadership capacity, and align circumstances so that when David finally took the throne, he was ready, the people were ready, and the nation was ready. The same holds true for you. Your promise may take time to manifest, but when it does, you’ll see that every detail has been carefully arranged by divine providence.
How this applies to you:
— Trust that God is orchestrating every detail of your manifestation season.
— Understand that God’s timing considers factors you may not be aware of.
— Know that your season of manifestation will be worth the wait.
— Rest assured that God is preparing everything and everyone involved in your promise.
— Remember that when it’s your time, nothing will be able to stop what God has ordained.
Declaration of Faith:
Father, I declare that Your timing in my life is perfect and precise.
I stand firm in faith, knowing that my season of manifestation is approaching.
I embrace the process of preparation, recognizing it as Your love in action.
Every seeming delay is developing my character and increasing my capacity.
I refuse to quit or give up, no matter how long the journey takes.
My faith remains steadfast, anchored in Your unchanging promises. I meditate and medicate on Your Word while I wait.
I trust that You are orchestrating every detail of my breakthrough.
What You have promised, You will bring to pass at the appointed time.
I declare that my waiting season is producing a greater weight of glory.
Living this way, I know GREATER IS COMING FOR ME!
I declare this by faith. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
This is Today’s Word. Apply it, and prosper!
