Don’t Be a Fool

by Rick

(Prov 24:3-7 GNB)  It takes wisdom to build a house, and understanding to set it on a firm foundation; It takes knowledge to furnish its rooms with fine furniture and beautiful draperies.  It’s better to be wise than strong; intelligence outranks muscle any day.  Strategic planning is the key to warfare; to win, you need a lot of good counsel.  Wise conversation is way over the head of fools; in a serious discussion they haven’t a clue.

This morning we continue our series, “Unlocking the Power of Proverbs – Walking in the Wisdom of God.”  This is part three of 23rd Saying: Descriptions of Wisdom’s Importance.  I broke this up into three parts: the home, the battlefield, and operating in wisdom.  We have deal with the first two thus far.  This morning we will discuss the last statement Solomon made.  Another translation of this verse reads: “Wise sayings are too deep for stupid people to understand.  They have nothing to say when important matters are being discussed.”  Have you ever been fully engaged in an insightful and through-provoking conversation, only to be interrupted by someone who wanted to get in to the conversation, but wasn’t truly qualified to do so?  When a person who is unprepared to interject into a conversation that is clearly above their head does so, it can be an be an embarrassing situation for the person and whomever they represent.

So what does this mean to you today? Four things:

1.  Choose your words and opportunities wisely.  You only get one chance to make a first impression.  It is hard to recover from making a fool of yourself.  So allow God’s Spirit and His wisdom to guide you in and out of conversations.  Sometimes, the best thing you can possibly do is remain silent.

2.  Never misrepresent what you know.  I am sure you have heard the phrase, “Fake it ‘til you make it.”  That might sound good, but it does not bode well in real life.  If you ever want to be considered an authority on anything, then you must reserve your comments to only those things you actually know.  If you don’t know, remain silent or say you don’t know.  But if you misrepresent yourself and “make up” information, only to be found out later, your character and credibility will be in question.

3.  Pray for and develop in divine wisdom.  I am definitely a witness of this.  The more you spend time with God and His Word, the more you actually develop in supernatural wisdom.  God’s wisdom gives us insight beyond our years, experience, and education.  I am sometimes astounded by how the Father has prepared me to operate at the highest levels of my career field.  Without question it is because of divine wisdom, insight, and favor.

4.  The Father equips us, enables us, and empowers us, in order to employ us.  The reason the Father does not want you to ‘speak out of turn’ or to make a fool of yourself, is because He wants to use you.  The more You allow His wisdom to flow through your lips, the more doors He is able to open for you and the more glory He can get out of your life.  Once again, this is a supernatural thing.  I am 38 years old and I am convinced that God’s wisdom has blessed me to operate in ways and at levels that I never would have operated in without it.

Closing Confession:  Father, I thank You for supernatural wisdom.  I declare, by faith, that I develop in Your wisdom daily.  I get in Your Word, I learn to hear Your voice, I am led of You in all things, and I represent You well.  I never speak out of turn, nor do I misrepresent what I know.  I say what I mean and I mean what I say.  You give me the grace and favor to stand before great men, You bring me in the presence of influential people, and once You do, You also give me the wisdom, insight, revelation, and understanding to operate at that level.  You equip me, enable me, empower me, and then EMPLOY me for Your glory daily.  I step into this day with the full confidence that I will represent You well in all that I say and do!  I declare this by faith.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen!

This is Today’s Word!  Apply it and Prosper!
