(1 Thes 5:17 NLT) Never stop praying.
This morning we continue our series entitled, “Re-Energizing Your Prayer Life,” by continuing to look at “What to Pray For.” Once again, for our prayers to get results they must line up with the Word of God. If we know we are praying in line with God’s Word, then we will be confident that we are asking for something that is in line with God’s will, because His Word is His will documented. With that in mind, here are a few scriptures to meditate before praying for a healthy mind and self-image:
(1 Cor 10:12 ESV) Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall.
(Col 2:8 NLT) Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ.
(Luke 8:18 NLT) “So pay attention to how you hear. To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given. But for those who are not listening, even what they think they understand will be taken away from them.” (Jesus was speaking)
(2 Tim 1:17 NIV) For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.
(2 Cor 10:3-5 NLT) We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.
(Phil 2:5 NLT) You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.
(Phil 4:8 NLT) And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
(Prov 23:7 NASB) For as he thinks within himself, so he is…
Closing Prayer: Father, I shall not be wise in my own eyes and I refuse to base my wisdom on the wisdom of this world alone. Many have fallen who had convinced themselves that they were right, only to find out that they were not right in your sight. I exalt Your Word and Your wisdom above anything I could ever receive from this world. I align my thoughts and self-image with Your thoughts toward me and Your opinion of me. I pay close attention to what I hear, because I know that what I allow to go through my ear gates will eventually get down in my heart and it will affect the way I think. By shielding my ears I protect myself.
Father, I also know that You have not give me the spirit of fear or timidity, therefore I don’t have to receive it. I refuse to allow fear, fret, worry, doubt or unbelief to keep me from Your best or to cause me to slip into depression. You have given me the ability to take control of my thoughts; therefore I declare that I do. I bring every illicit thought under subjection. I take control of my thought life and I force myself to think on the things You desire for me to think on. I only think good thoughts and I see myself the way that I am IN YOU. This way I can enter every day with a solid, sharp, and stable mind. I AM the way that I THINK I AM! As I enter today I declare that my mind is alert, my body is awake, and I am ready for all You desire to do in, with, and through me. I can do all things through Christ! I pray this prayer by faith, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
