Established in Righteousness – Part 2

by Rick

Established in Righteousness (Part 2)

This was our inheritance from Adam:
— We were born in sin (Ps 51:5).
— None of us are righteous (Rom 3:10).
— Because of the actions of one man (Adam), death reigned over many (all mankind) (Rom 5:17).

What made you a sinner?
— You were not a sinner because you sinned.
— You were a sinner because you were born in-Adam.
— You sinned (your actions), because that is what sinners do, but your sinning (your actions) is not what made you a sinner.

*** You were a sinner because you were born that way ***
— Your actions could never get you out of sin.
— When a sinner performs a righteous act, it does not make him/her righteous.
— Good deeds could never get you out of sin.
— You were born-in-sin and the only way to get you out was to be Born-Again!

This is our inheritance from Jesus:
— When we are Born-Again we are baptized into Christ and we put on Christ (Gal 3:27).
— He was made sin and we are made righteous (2 Cor 5:21).
— We used to be slaves to sin and Paul teaches that we should now be “Slaves to Righteousness” (Rom 6:18).

*** You are righteous because you are Born-Again that way ***
— Your actions could never get you out of sin, therefore your actions cannot — get your out of righteousness.
— Performing a good act never got you out of sin, performing a bad act does not get you out of righteousness..
— You are righteous because you are Born-Again righteous and you have Jesus’ righteousness.

Closing points:
1. If the devil can get you to feel unrighteous, you will feel condemned, you will run away from God and you will never pray (at least not with confidence).

2. When you pray with no confidence you pray with no faith.

3. When you pray with no faith, your prayers are weak.

4. When you are established in righteousness you don’t allow the devil to make you feel condemned, you are quick to repent when you do wrong, and you pray with confidence and boldness!

*** Accept Jesus’ Righteousness, once and for all, so that you can walk with the Confidence that He died to give you! ***
