When God Blows Your Mind

by Rick

(Read Mat 8:23-27)

This morning we continue our series, “Grace that is Simply Amazing” by continuing our mini-series entitled, “Grace Based Success (Prosperity)”.  Yesterday we looked at a conversation Jesus had with two men.  To one man Jesus made it clear that “foxes have holes” and “birds have nests”, but those who followed him were not going to have a stable environment.  Jesus was always on the go.  That man chose not to take the journey.  Another said he wanted to go, but he needed to bury his father first.  His Dad had just died.  Jesus replied, “Let those who are dead bury their own dead.”  This man also chose not to go on the journey with Jesus.  But Simon the Fisherman had already made his choice, he had already left his family behind, and he was well on the way to becoming Peter the Apostle.

After speaking to the two men Jesus and His disciples got into a boat.  Jesus had already stated they were going to the other side.  Jesus was always led of the Father and He had a divine assignment in the land of Gad.  On the way the boat encountered a very bad storm.  The storm was so bad that waves covered the boat.  The storm was so bad that time-tested fishermen, like Peter, James and John, were afraid for their lives.  The storm was raging, the waves were crashing, the boat was rocking, the people were crying out, and all the while Jesus was sleeping.  Jesus was fast asleep, because He knew the storm would not be the end of Him.  Jesus’ confidence was in the Father and His confidence enabled Him to sleep through the storm.

The disciples woke Jesus in panic.  They said, “Lord, save us!  We will drown!”  Jesus was not afraid at all and He was somewhat annoyed with their fear and lack of faith.  Jesus answered, “Why are you afraid?  You don’t have enough faith.”  Jesus then stood up, He gave a command to the wind and the water.  The wind stopped, and the lake became very calm.  The disciples were flabbergasted.  Simon Peter had spent all his life on the water and he had never seen anything like it.  The men said amongst themselves, “What manner of man man is this?  Even the wind and the water obey him!”  This was a mind-blowing moment for the men who had given up everything to follow a man they barely knew.  But after this moment, if they had not known it already, they knew they made the right choice.

So what does this mean to you today?

  1.  God understands what He is asking of you.  When God asks for ALL OF YOU, it is no small request, but He is willing to do His part to prove to you the sacrifice is worth it.

  1.  God will do whatever He needs to do to manifest His power in your life to the point where you are convinced of His deity.

  1.  God loves you enough to show you His power enough times to get you to the point where you are convinced He is God.

  1.  God will give you mind-blowing-moments to help you quell your doubts and fuel your faith.

  1.  We serve a God who loves us enough to blow-our-mind from time to time, just so we are reminded of His power.

  1.  God’s plan for your life is huge.  It’s much bigger than what you imagine.  It will require faith.  It will not get done without God.  So God is willing to do all He needs to do to get you to the point where you truly believe Him and you are ready to live by faith.

  1.  We serve a God who has all power, can do all things, has no limits, and is completely unstoppable.  This same God will give you mind-blowing-moments to keep your faith high, your expectations strong, and your confidence firmly rooted and grounded in Him and His power.

  1.  When your confidence is in God and His limitless power you can sleep through any storm!

Closing Confession:   Father, I thank You for teaching me about Your grace and my requirement to live by faith.  You alone are my God.  You alone have all power.  You alone are Sovereign.  You alone are supreme.  There is no god like You, and there is no god BUT YOU!  You made plans for me before the foundations of the world.  You made those plans by grace and You now expect me to walk them out by faith.  In order for my faith to remain high, You willingly manifest Your power in my life.  You do what no man can do.  You put Your power on display for me.  You give me mind-blowing-moments; moments that baffle reason, supercede logic, and overrule human limits and earthly laws.  Thank You Father for being willing to do whatever it takes to get me to the point where I completely rely on You.  I am the just.  I live by faith.  My faith is rooted and grounded in You and Your power.  My faith is fearless because my confidence is solely in You!  I am so confident IN YOU that I am able to sleep through the storms of life.  I declare this by faith.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
This is Today’s Word!  Apply it and Prosper.
