The Woman With The Issue of Blood (Part 2)

by Rick

Reak Mark 5:23-34

This morning we continue our series entitled, “The Year of Supernatural Manifestation”, with our mini-series on “The Miracles of Jesus”.  Yesterday I introduced you to the woman with the issue of blood.  I talked about her bleeding condition, how it was ongoing for 12 years, and how she was at her wit’s end.  She was physically drained, emotionally scarred, socially outcast, and financially broke.  But she heard about JESUS!  She kept saying to herself, “If I can only but touch His clothes, I shall be made whole!”  With that, she mustered the courage and the faith to DO something.

This woman pressed her way through the crowd surrounding Jesus.  She kept saying to herself, “If I can only but touch His clothes, I shall be made whole!”  When she finally got close enough, SHE DID IT!  She reached out her hand and touched Jesus’ clothes.  Immediately the bleeding stopped!  She knew she was changed.  She knew she had received her breakthrough.

Jesus felt divine power leave His body.  He stopped and asked, “Who touched me?”  The disciples were confused by the question.  They were like, “What do you mean Jesus?  The entire crowd is touching you.”  But only one person had touched Jesus with their faith.  Jesus looked around and saw the woman.  When He did, He immediately knew.  The woman fell at Jesus’ feet and she began to tell Him her story.  Yes, Jesus was enroute to Jairus’ house.  Yes, the crowd was thronging Jesus, hoping to see a miracle at Jairus’ home.  Yes, Jairus’ little girl was dying.  Yes, Jesus knew time was of the essence.  But in the middle of it all, without any fanfare, a miracle had already taken place and Jesus slowed down long enough to take time to hear this woman’s story.

The woman’s physical body had just been healed, but psychologically she was still distraught.  She had experienced very little social interaction over the previous 12 years and Jesus took the time to listen to her testimony.  After listening to her, Jesus said, “Daughter, your faith has made you whole.  Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”  With that, the woman walked away free from the bondage she had endured for 12 long years.

So what does this mean to you today?  A few things:

1.  You can touch God.

a)  In most of Jesus’ miracles He touched people to release God’s power.  But in the miracle of the woman with the issue of blood, she touched Him.  It is possible to touch God with your faith.

b)  Your faith can access what God’s grace has provided.  Jesus was walking around with the power of God to supercede the natural laws of this world and this woman tapped into that power with her faith.

c)  God does what He does for us by grace – completely unearned and unmerited.  But we must do what we do by faith.  It is our faith that accesses God’s grace.

2.  Our God is naturally supernatural.

a)  In the earth we have natural laws and limits.  In the model prayer, when Jesus said, “Our Father who art in heaven”, it was a reminder that our God is not confined to the limits of this world.  In heaven there are no limits.  In heaven there is no natural time.  So our God, who is in heaven, is free to operate in a limitless state at any time.  When He moves down here in the earth, He releases heaven-on-earth.  When He does, we see the natural laws of this world superseded.  The woman with the issue of blood did not tap into power that is natural to this world.  She tapped into supernatural power, which is why her bleeding stopped immediately.

b)  Many believers are so conditioned to the ways of this world, that they fail to even open their hearts to the supernatural.  If the woman with the issue of blood did not believe she could be healed, she would have never been healed.  Her belief was not based in anything natural to this world.  Her belief was based in a God of NO LIMITS.

c)  You don’t worship a God that is natural to this world.  You should be happy that the God you worship is natural to heaven; a place of no sickness, no disease, no lack, and no limits.  So, when you invoke God’s presence in any given situation, Jesus taught you to pray, “Thy Kingdom COME!  They will be DONE!  On earth, AS IT IS in heaven!”  It is possible for your prayers of faith to bring heaven to the earth.  You can experience heaven-on-earth.  This should be your expectation this year!

d)  Our God, who is naturally supernatural, freely gives you access to His limitless power by grace.  He then requires you to access this power with your faith.

Closing Confession:  Father, this is a year of Great Victory for me.  This year I will experience supernatural manifestation like never before!  I open my heart to the supernatural.  I was born natural to this world.  But I was Born-Again!  This makes me naturally supernatural.  Your Spirit lives IN me.  Your Spirit is my connection to a realm of NO LIMITS!  I appreciate the natural laws and limits of this present world.  But I invoke Your presence and Your power into my situations.  When I do, I pray for Your will to be done, ON EARTH, AS IT IS IN HEAVEN!  This way I experience heaven-on-earth!  I declare this by faith.  In Jesus’ name, amen!

This is Today’s Word!  Apply it and prosper!
