Love Is God’s WHY!

by Rick

Today we continue our series entitled, “God Loves You”, under the overall theme for the year of, “Supernatural Manifestation.”  For a few weeks we have been learning about God’s love within the context of this series.  I firmly believe the love of God is the KEY to fully embracing His best and operating in the supernatural.  I will use the scripture we looked at yesterday to explain what I mean.

Grandpa John said, “If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.  Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God.” (1 John 3:20, 21 NIV).  In yesterday’s message I contrasted the condemnation we feel when we don’t feel loved by God, with the confidence we have when we do.  And since faith is all about confidence, receiving and maintaining the love of God in our hearts is key and central to walking and living by faith.

I have spent years teaching you about God’s amazing grace.  God’s grace is unearned, unmerited and mostly undeserved.  Grace is HOW God blesses us.  He blesses us in ways that clearly unmerited and undeserved.  But if grace is HOW, love is WHY!  That’s what I will talk about today.

So what does this mean to you today?  A few things.

1.  Love is God’s “why”.

a)  While God does all He does for you by His unearned and amazing grace, love is His motivated.  Grace is God’s HOW, love is His WHY!

b)  God sent His Son to die for you, simply because He loves you.

c)  God sent His Spirit to live inside of you, simply because He loves you.

d)  God made plans for you before the world began, simply because He loves you.

e)  God tirelessly pursued you, even when you wanted nothing to do with Him, simply because He loves you.

f)  Love is the motivation behind all God does for you.  God LOVES YOU!

2.  Your faith is fueled by God’s love.

a)  While you are called and commanded to walk and live by faith, God’s motivation to bless you is His love, not your faith.  However, your faith will never be strong until you know God’s loves you.  You must be convinced that He wants to bless you, simply because He loves you, for your faith to be strong!

b)  When you are convinced God loves you, it puts you in a position to receive from Him.  Your understanding of God’s love towards you helps you receive His grace by faith.

c)  When you are convinced God loves you, it is easier for you to believe.  Because at that point you are believing God and what He wants to do in your life because He loves you and not because you are perfect.

d)  When you are convinced God loves you, that He wants to bless you by grace, because of His everlasting love towards you, you will believe God with your confidence in Him and not you.  This way you know you don’t have to be perfect to receive God’s promises.  You just have to believe that He wants to bless you; not because you are so good, but because He is so good!

e)  When you are convinced God loves you, your faith is truly energized.  Your faith finds its strength in knowing that God loves you.  When your faith is rooted in God’s love towards you, it will be powerful, because it will not be contingent upon you.  It will be contingent upon God and His tireless dedication to you and the plans He made for you before the foundations of the world.

Closing Confession:  Father, this is a year of Great Victory for me.  I can say this without reservation, because I know You love me.  It is the revelation of Your love for me that fuels my faith and starves my doubts.  I know You are dedicated to me.  I know You will never turn Your back on me.  I know You are committed to finishing what You started in my life.  I know this, because I know YOU LOVE ME!  Knowing You love me helps me to release stress, release the pressure to perform, and to embrace Your best.  I declare this by faith.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
