Trusting God’s Love (Pt. 2)

by Rick

Today we continue our series entitled, “God Loves You”, under the overall theme for the year of, “Supernatural Manifestation.”  We have been learning about the love of God from John, the Apostle of love.  Yesterday I shared a message about trusting in God’s love from a passage in 1 John 4.  This will be Part 2.  Let’s go back to the same passage.  John said:

We know that we live in God and God lives in us. We know this because he gave us his Spirit. We have seen that the Father sent his Son to be the Savior of the world, and this is what we tell people now. Anyone who says, “I believe that Jesus is the Son of God,” is a person who lives in God, and God lives in that person. So we know the love that God has for us, and we trust that love. God is love. Everyone who lives in love lives in God, and God lives in them.” (1 John 4:13-16 ERV)

In yesterday’s message I said, “Once we believe in God’s love, the next step is to trust it.  Trusting in God’s love frees us to believe the invisible, attempt the impossible, and operate in the supernatural.”  Let’s ‘pull the string’ on that thought today.

So what does this mean to you today?  A few things.

1.  The chasm between God and man.

a)  If there is one major issue for God, where man is concerned, is His perfection.  God is infinitely perfect.  God is absolutely holy.  God is flawless in all His ways.  This means God is so perfect that we, as mere humans, could never be like Him on our own.

b)  The issue with the 10 Commandments was not that they were flawed, it was that they were not.  The 10 Commandments required perfection of humanity and the only human who could live His entire life in fulfillment of the Law was Jesus.  We are not perfect, but Jesus was perfect FOR us.

c)  The Law of Moses was written in a way that required perfection of humanity, SO THAT humans could realize we are flawed.  The Law was written so we could realize we needed a Savior.  That Savior came and His name is Jesus.

d)  God is so far above humanity that as mere humans we must believe He love us, because if we don’t, we will never believe He will use us.

e)  The only way an imperfect human can open his/her heart completely to a holy God is if the human believes and trusts in God’s love.

2.  God crosses the chasm between Himself and us, simply because He loves us.

a)  For you to believe God to see the invisible, attempt the impossible and operate in the supernatural, you must believe and trust in His love.

b)  If you don’t believe God loves you, and even then take that belief to the next level by actually trusting in God’s love for you every day, you will never see yourself operating like Him in this world.

c)  God has called us to BE LIKE JESUS in this world.  The only way you can look in the mirror and see Jesus IN you, is if you know God loves you and you trust in His love.

I will stop here for today and continue to flow in this vein tomorrow.

Closing Confession:  Father, this is a year of Great Victory for me.  I can say this without reservation, because I know You love me.  You are infinitely perfect.  You are absolutely holy.  You are flawless in all Your ways.  You are SO perfect, that I could never be like You, without You!  So You sent Jesus to be perfect for me.  You sent Jesus to be righteous for me.  You sent Jesus to be holy for me.  And You gave me Your Spirit so I could be LIKE YOU.  As Jesus is, so am I, in this world.  I can say this without a doubt in my heart, because I know You love me and I trust in Your love!  I declare this by faith.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
