Today we continue our series, “As Jesus Is”, under the banner of the overall series for the year, “Supernatural Manifestation.” We have been looking at 1 John 4:16,17 for over a month now. Last week we started looking at John 17 to go along with it. Let’s go back to both passages again this morning.
The Apostle John said:
And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
(1 John 4:16, 17 KJV)
The True Lord’s Prayer (John 17:20-23)
“I pray not only for these followers but also for those who will believe in me because of their teaching. Father, I pray that all who believe in me can be one. You are in me and I am in you. I pray that they can also be one in us. Then the world will believe that you sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me. I gave them this glory so that they can be one, just as you and I are one. I will be in them, and you will be in me. So they will be completely one. Then the world will know that you sent me and that you loved them just as you loved me.”
I will focus in on the words: “Father, I pray that all who believe in me can be one. You are in me and I am in you. I pray that they can also be one in us.”
So what does this mean to you today? A few things.
1. The goal is to be ONE with God.
a) Jesus did not operate as a God in this world. He operated as a human who had God INSIDE of Him. This is the same way He expects us to operate.
b) Jesus prayed that we would be ONE with both Him and the Father. He wanted us to be ONE, just like He was ONE.
c) The day you truly see yourself as ONE with God will be the day you die to human limits. From that day on, humans limits will have no power over you.
2. The fulness of the Godhead is IN you!
a) The Father is IN you. Paul said, “There is one Lord, one faith, and one baptism. There is one God and Father of us all, who rules over everyone. He works through all of us and in all of us.” (Eph 4:5,6).
b) The Son is IN you. Jesus said, “Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you” (John 14:19, 20). Paul said, “I became a servant of the church because God gave me a special work to do. This work helps you. My work is to tell the complete message of God. This message is the secret truth that was hidden since the beginning of time. It was hidden from everyone for ages, but now it has been made known to God’s holy people. God decided to let his people know just how rich and glorious that truth is. That secret truth, which is for all people, is that Christ lives in you, his people. He is our hope for glory.” (Col 1:25-27)
c) The Holy Spirit is IN you. Jesus said, “The Helper is the Spirit of truth. The people of the world cannot accept him, because they don’t see him or know him. But you know him. He lives with you, and he will be in you.” (John 14:17). Paul said, “You heard the true message, the Good News about the way God saves you. When you heard that Good News, you believed in Christ. And in Christ, God put his special mark on you by giving you the Holy Spirit that he promised.” (Eph 1:13)
3. All that God is, is IN you!
a) If you are Born-Again, you are no longer a mere man. You are a God-man. God lives INSIDE of you!
b) If you live “God-inside” minded, knowing God Himself has taken up residence IN you, you will see every challenge from a different perspective. Looking at a challenge from God’s perspective changes everything! So, no matter what you are facing this morning, look at it from God’s perspective. Stop just thinking about how YOU would have to address it. Think about it from the perspective of how God WILL address it through you!

Closing Confession: Father, this is a year of Great Victory for me. I don’t say this because of me. I say this because of You. You live IN me. You gave me Your Spirit. You took up residence INSIDE of me. I am in Christ and Christ is IN me. There is no separation between me and You. Therefore, there is NOTHING I cannot do, because there is NOTHING You cannot do, and You live IN me. I give myself over to You Father. You give me the words. You perform the work. You can do ALL THINGS through me. I enter this day with my full confidence in all that You are! As Jesus is, so am I, in this world! I declare this by faith. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
