I trust you enjoyed our “Back to the Bible” series. I know I did. Today I will start a new series under the banner of the overall theme of the year. Remember, back in the January I told you that the Lord wanted me to teach on expectation this year. The them He gave me for 2018 is “The Year of Expectation.” Connecting that theme with the series the Father just had me to teach, our new series is based on the Parable of the Sower and I am calling it, “Expecting the Word to Work!”
Now that you have rekindled your passion for the Word of God, I want you to raise your expectation concerning it. The Word will work, if you work the Word! In this series you will learn about the power that lies within the Word of God and how when God gives you His Word, the Word can produce a harvest in your life: sometimes 30-fold, sometimes 60-fold, and sometimes a 100-fold.
Today I will simply going lay the foundation for the series. I am actually going to start with something I heard my Pastor, Tony Brazelton, say yesterday. He said (and I paraphrase), “When God speaks something to you, the Word He spoke comes WITH the ABILITY to do what He said. So when you receive a Word from God directing you to do what is humanly impossible, or beyond human limits, you must remember that ALONG with the WORD, you received the POWER to do it! God releases Word and the same Word He releases contains the power (or grace) to do what He is calling you to do. This is how we live a supernatural life. This is how the supernatural becomes natural to us.” I am sharing this up front in this series, because I believe it drives home the importance of receiving and believing God’s Word, and then living with an expectation that the Word will produce what God said in your life! It is this expectation that fuels your faith!
So what does this mean to you today? I will share few things that line up with what Pastor Tony said yesterday. I believe these 10 points will help us set the stage for this new series.
- God commands us to do the impossible. He routinely calls us into realms that far exceed human power, ability and strength. But don’t fear, His words come with the power (or grace) to perform them. As an example, in Matthew 10 Jesus sent His disciples out. He said, “You guys go heal the sick. Cleanse lepers. Cast out demons. Raise the dead.” (Rick Piña Version). Obviously, they could do NONE of these things. But God’s Words also contained His power. So Jesus said, “Freely you have received, freely give.” Did you catch that? The ability was to do was locked up in the command to do. God will never command you to do something He has not already equipped you to do. If He did, He would be unjust and our God is perfectly just. So whatever He calls you to do, He expects you to do, because His call COMES WITH the power to perform it!
- God speaks words to us. The Bible contains the words He has already spoken and He also speaks fresh words to us by His Spirit. God’s power comes with His words. This is why it is critical that you receive a Word from God concerning any situation you are in. When you receive a Word, you also received the power to do what the Word commanded. So if you are struggling to access God’s power to overcome your situation, it could be because you have failed to discover His Word concerning it. When you get the Word, you will have access to the power.
- God requires us to do the impossible. He calls us into the supernatural. This is why He releases His grace. God graces us to do what we could never do without Him. God calls us to do what we cannot do without Him and He then graces us to experience what it is like to live like Jesus in this world.
- The Christian life without the supernatural is NOT the life God has called us to. If your life is completely human, then you are living far beneath God’s best.
- God requires us to step into a world where things are impossible with us, but possible with Him. This happens by grace and it comes through His Word.
- In Luke 1 the angel told Mary that she was going to have a baby without ever having sex. She did not understand how this could happen. The angel explained that with God NOTHING is impossible. Mary believed the angel. She opened up her heart to what God said. Guess what? The Word spoken over her contained the power to bring it to pass. As soon as she said, “Lord, be it unto me according to Your Word,” she got pregnant without ever sleeping with a man. The impossible became possible to her because she believed and received a Word from God. The Word spoken was humanly was impossible. But the Word contained the power to do what no human could do. Mary received the Word and she got pregnant. Once you receive the Word God speaks over you, you will become pregnant with whatever He said! This is why it is so important to receive a Word from God and to them open up your heart to believe it will come to pass in your life. This is how you experience the supernatural.
- No Word from God is without the ability to perform it.
- Your power is in your ability to receive Word from God. The more Word you receive and believe, the more you will experience the supernatural life you are called into.
- If you can receive a Word from God on it, then you can do it. If you have not received a Word from God on it yet, then you don’t know what you can or cannot do.
- If you are struggling in your health, career, marriage, relationships, finances, or any other area, it could be because you have failed to receive Word from God in that area. In this series we will learn the importance of receiving Word and how God’s Word will produce in our lives.
Closing Confession:
Father, this is a season of expectation for me. My expectation for manifestation is not based on anything I came up with on my own. I don’t live my life chasing human or selfish desires. My expectation is tied to Your Word. I live by every Word You speak to me. I meditate and medicate on Your Word day and night. Your Words are life to me. They are health and healing to all my flesh. I apply Your Word to every area of my life. When I receive a Word from You that is calling me into the supernatural, I remind myself that along with the Word, You gave me the power to perform it. The COMMAND TO DO, came with the POWER TO DO inside of it. Nothing You tell me to do is impossible for me, because the supernatural is natural to me! I declare this by faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
