Note: Today is September 11th. I would like to pause for a moment to remember those who lost their lives on September 11th, 2001, and all those who have sacrificed greatly since then in support of the fight against terrorism. Please remember every Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Marine, and civilian deployed today. Pray for their safety and their family members. Please also pray for every first responder. Satan’s kingdom is fueled by fear. But terror and terrorism will never win. Love conquers hate. Good conquers evil. God conquers all.
This morning I continue our series entitled, “Standing on a Word from God.” This is Part 11. We have been looking at the life of Abraham. Let’s go back to his story today.
(Gen 18:11-14 ERV)
Abraham and Sarah were very old. Sarah was past the right age for women to have children. So she laughed to herself and said, “I am old, and my husband is old. I am too old to have a baby.” Then the Lord said to Abraham, “Sarah laughed and said she was too old to have a baby. But is anything too hard for the Lord?
So what does this mean to you today? A few things.
1. There are no impossibilities in God. There is literally NOTHING God can’t do. If you see an impossibility in your life, it is because you have failed to include God in the equation.
2. You limit God’s ability to operate in your life when you fail to believe in Him and His limitless power.
3. Abraham’s body, from the waist down, was not working anymore. He was 99 years old. Sarah’s womb had never worked and she was 89 years old. Them having a baby was humanly impossible. But God wanted them to believe anyway. If you can believe the impossible and see the invisible, you will experience the supernatural.
4. In the New Testament the Apostle Paul documented the experience Abraham and Sarah had with God the faith they exhibited. He said, “And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.” Allow me to highlight a few things from this:
a) You get to choose what you consider. Yes, Abraham’s body was no longer working. Yes, it is true that Sarah’s womb had NEVER worked. But God gave them a Word and they CHOSE to consider God’s Word over their circumstances. Faith is a choice. You must choose what God said over what you see!
b) Abraham did not WAVER, because he did not CONSIDER the impossibility of his situation. If you start considering how impossible your situation is, you are going to waver. If you want to consider anything, consider the fact that there is NOTHING TOO HARD FOR GOD!
c) God knew that Abraham’s body was not working anymore. God knew that Sarah’s womb had never worked. God factored all of those things OUT when He factored IN His power. But if you mess around and factor IN what God already factored OUT, you will win up putting a “NO,” where God already put a “YES!”
d) Paul tells us that Abraham was fully convinced that God would do what He promised. This is how we are supposed to live. We must be FULLY CONVINCED that God will do what He said He would do in our lives.
5. There is nothing (literally NO THING) too hard for God. If God said it, He can do it, but you must open your heart to it. And once you do, you have to keep on believing until it comes to pass!
Closing Confession:
Father, this is a season of expectation for me. I live in expectation of Your promises in my life. I am a believer and not a doubter. I walk by faith and not by fear, doubt or unbelief. I am convinced that there are no impossibilities for You. What is impossible with man is clearly possible with You! So I live in expectation of divine manifestation daily! I am fully persuaded. I am completely convinced. I know in my heart that Every Promise You have spoken over me shall come to pass in my life BEFORE I DIE! I declare this by faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
This is Today’s Word. Apply it and prosper!
