A Year In Review (2017) – Closing Out The Year Strong

by Rick

I am going on vacation in a few days and I will be in a place with no internet connectivity.  So after receiving clearance from God, I am going to shut down Today’s Word for the year on Thursday.  This means I only have four more messages left to share in 2017.  I have been in prayer over what to say.

In January the Lord told me that this year would be a year of “Supernatural Manifestation”; that we would see His power demonstrated.  I can say that it has.  I have seen miracles, signs and wonders.  I have seen God perform many things, through His people, that exceed human power, ability and strength.

Back in January, at our church, the word we received from God was this this year would be a “Year of Great Victory” for us.  Looking back, I can also agree that it has.  But in order to have great victory, we had to face great opposition.  I will share a few things about that in today’s message.

This year God led to me teach what I consider to be some of the best series I have ever taught in the 20 years of Today’s Word.  The teaching I provided you this year was spread out over four main series’.  They were:

  1.  The Miracles of Jesus.  We looked at every miracle Jesus performed and how it applies to our lives today.

  1.  God Loves You.  I drove home the point that you will never experience God’s best or His power, until you know how much He loves you.

  1.  As Jesus Is.  We saw how we are ONE with Jesus and He is ONE with us.

  1.  It’s Already Done.  God has done was He was going to.  It’s now on us to receive what God has already done.

Over the next few days, as we close out the year, I will share a few thoughts that God has me meditating on.

So what does this mean to you today?  Here are a few of those thoughts.

1. The journey towards our destiny is lived out in increments.

a)  God’s plan for your life is already complete.  It was complete before you were born.  God reveals His plan to you in increments.  He will give you the “light” you need to maximize the season you are in.

b)  The journey of your life is walked out in times and seasons, levels and stages.  You did not get everything done in 2017.  You were not supposed to.  But you were supposed to get incrementally closer to God’s overall expected end for your life.

2.  The attack is against the assignment.

a)  Satan could care less about you.  He does not attack you because of you.  He attacks you because of the impact you were born to make.  He does not want you to make that impact.  The attack is against your divine assignment.

b)  The greater the assignment, the greater the attack.  The more God uses you to do in this world, the more opposition you will have along the way.  But that’s okay, because you already have the victory.

3.  The devil will do all he can to get you to quit, because if you do not quit, you cannot lose.

a)  Satan cannot stop God, and He cannot stop the God in you when you are flowing with God.  But you can stop God by getting frustrated to the point where you give up, cave in and quit.  Satan knows that if he can get you to quit, you will be stopped.  But he did not stop you, you stopped yourself.

b)  The only way you can lose is if you quit.  Determine in your heart, right now, that you will NEVER QUIT!

Closing Confession:  Father, this is a year of Great Victory for me.  You made plans for me before the world began.  Each year You expect me to get incrementally closer to Your overall expected end for my life.  I declare that I do.  I made progress in 2017 and I am excited about 2018.  I will close out 2017 strong and head into 2018 strong.  Because I am determined to never give up, cave in or quit!  I declare this by faith.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
