Life Lessons From Lazarus (Part 6) | Messages In the Miracles

by Rick

This morning, we continue our series, “The Miracles of Jesus.” Before we get into the miracle, let’s look at the foundational scripture I will share with you all year.

(Psalm 126:4 TPT)

Now, Lord, do it again! Restore us to our former glory! May streams of your refreshing flow over us until our dry hearts are drenched again.

This is a season of refreshing and restoring for us. I pray you get refreshed and restored as we study each miracle.

Read John 11

We have been through this miracle several times now. I have been giving you lessons we can glean from it. We will continue today.

So what does this mean for you today?  A few things.

1.  God’s power is unmatchable.

(Romans 8:28-31 NIV)

28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.

30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.

31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

— When our ways reach their limit, that’s where God’s ways begin. Where our power runs out, His power kicks in. When we are too weak, His unlimited strength can do what we cannot. Therefore, no situation is too hopeless, no problem is too big, no disease is too severe, and no dream is too high for our God. His power is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Limitations are launchpads!  Our limitations are God’s opportunity to reveal His unending power. When we reach the end of our strength, we’re only beginning to tap into God’s limitless power. Every challenge, every setback, and every impossibility is a stage set for God to show His power in our lives.

— We must learn to believe and trust in God’s power. We must also learn, as we discussed yesterday, that God’s ways are above our ways. Even when we don’t understand, let’s choose faith over fear, trust over doubt, and surrender over control.

— God’s ways are higher, His thoughts are deeper, and His plans are always for our good and His glory. His ways are not just higher; they are better! So let go and let God. Let Him be God in your life. And believe me, when you do, you’ll see the glory of God like never before!

— When His actions defy our understanding, it’s an invitation to trust His wisdom over our understanding.

We must be committed to experiencing God’s power. God’s power isn’t merely a concept; it’s a reality we can experience in our lives. When we face obstacles, it’s the perfect opportunity for God to show His unmatchable strength and sovereignty. His power transcends natural laws and human comprehension.

— I pray this series is helping you to believe in the impossible.  With God, the word ‘impossible’ does not exist. No dream is too big, no challenge is too hard, and no situation is too hopeless for God to handle. His power goes beyond our limitations.  Simply put, God can make the impossible possible.

— You must believe that God’s power is moving, even when you don’t see Him moving. God is working behind the scenes. His power is at work, orchestrating events, aligning opportunities, and making a way for us, even when we don’t understand it.  Jesus was moving for Mary, Martha, and Lazarus, even when they had no clue of what He was doing. It’s the same with us! Know that God is working all things together for our good (Romans 8:28).

— Keep your heart open to God’s power and glory. Remember that He wants to be glorified in, with, and through your life, which is why He is willing to manifest His power in your life.  Every demonstration of God’s power is also a demonstration of His glory. When Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, the glory of God went out like never before.  It will be the same in and through your life when God does something that ONLY HE can do!

If God is for us, He is more than the entire world against us. Death could not hold Lazarus back, even though his spirit had been disconnected from his body for four long days. When Jesus said, “Lazarus, come forth,” death could not hold him because there is no power like our God’s power.  God’s power is unmatchable! I pray this series on the miracles is helping you to settle this down in your heart.

So, in every situation, let’s trust in God’s unmatchable power. Let’s believe that what is impossible with man is possible with God. His power knows no limits; His love knows no bounds. In our weakness, His strength shines brightest. In our limitations, His unlimited power is revealed.  When you’re face-to-face with the impossible, remember God’s power is unmatchable!

2.  Jesus transforms our endings into beginnings.

— For Lazarus, the tomb was not an ending but a beginning. Through Jesus, his death became a testimony of resurrection and life. Life for Lazarus, post-resurrection, was much different than before. For the rest of his life, he was known as the man who was raised from the dead. His test became his testimony. He went through something, but his experience with God’s power, no doubt, impacted him for the rest of his life.  This is a reminder that when you go through something significant with God, it is not the end but merely the beginning of something new!

— Jesus can take us from death to life!  Just as Jesus resurrected Lazarus, He can breathe life into the dead areas of our lives. What looks like an end is often just the beginning of a new miraculous work of God.

Jesus can take us from mourning to dancing!  Jesus has the power to turn our mourning into joy (Psalm 30:11). Even in the midst of deep grief or loss, He can bring comfort and healing that lead to a new chapter of joy.

Jesus can take us from sorrow to strength!  The ending that brings sorrow and heartache can, under Jesus’ loving hand, transform into a beginning that reveals His strength in us.

Jesus can take us from fear to faith!  Endings often bring fear and uncertainty. But Jesus can take that fear and replace it with faith. In Him, we move from fear of the unknown to faith in new beginnings!

Jesus can take us from ashes to beauty!  The Bible tells us that God gives us beauty for ashes (Isaiah 61:3). The ashes of failure, disappointment, and loss can be turned into beauty when we surrender them to Jesus. I can only imagine what life was like for Mary, Martha, and Lazarus after the resurrection.  God gave them beauty for ashes. He replaced their mourning with the OIL OF JOY! God will do the same for us!

Jesus can take us from pain to purpose!  Jesus can use the pain of an ending to give birth to a new purpose. Out of the ruins of a closing chapter, He can bring forth a purpose-filled beginning.

Jesus can take us from defeat to victory!  Jesus can turn any situation around! What appears to be an ending in defeat can become a beginning of a great victory in Him (1 Corinthians 15:57). God did it for Lazarus and He can do it for you!

So let’s embrace the power of Jesus in our lives. Even when it seems like we’ve come to an end, let’s trust in Him.  Because with Jesus, every ending is just the start of a new, glorious beginning.

Declaration of Faith:

Father, this is a season of refreshing and restoring for me!

I look unto You as the author and finisher of my faith. Your power is unmatchable. If You are FOR me, then it does not matter if the entire world is AGAINST me!

It’s never over until You say it is over! Jesus can give me life, even in seemingly dead situations!

Jesus can turn my mourning into dancing, my sorrow into strength, my fear into faith, my ashes into beauty, my pain into purpose, and any defeat into a victory! There is nothing You can’t do!

With You, Father, every ending is just the start of a new and glorious beginning. This is how I know GREATER IS COMING FOR ME! I declare this by faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

This is Today’s Word. Apply it and prosper!
