The Power of God’s Presence | A Study in the Favor of God

by Rick

Today, we continue our series entitled “Laser Focus,” with the point being that we should live with a Laser Focus on the Fixed Purpose God established for us before the world began.

This is the main scripture we will be looking at this year:

(Proverbs 4:25 TPT)

Set your gaze on the path before you. With fixed purpose, looking straight ahead, ignore life’s distractions.

Today, we will also look at:

(Gen 39:3-5 NIV)

3 When his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord gave him success in everything he did,

4 Joseph found favor in his eyes and became his attendant. Potiphar put him in charge of his household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned.

5 From the time he put him in charge of his household and of all that he owned, the Lord blessed the household of the Egyptian because of Joseph. The blessing of the Lordwas on everything Potiphar had, both in the house and in the field.

(Gen 39:21-23 NIV)

21 The Lord was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden.

22 So the warden put Joseph in charge of all those held in the prison, and he was made responsible for all that was done there.

23 The warden paid no attention to anything under Joseph’s care, because the Lord was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did.

So, what does this mean to you today?  A few things.

1. The Unmistakable Presence of God in Joseph’s Life.

— Divine Presence as the Source of Success: Recognize that Joseph’s success in Potiphar’s house and prison was directly attributed to the Lord’s presence with him. The presence of God gives you access to the favor of God, and the situation you find yourself in does not matter. Favor caused Joseph to be a prosperous slave and later a prosperous prisoner!

— Favor Will Get Us Promoted to Positions of Influence: Joseph found favor in Potiphar’s eyes and later with the prison warden. He ran Potiphar’s house, and he later ran the royal prison, all because the favor of God was on the young man. This is what favor can do in your life, too!

— Blessings Extend Beyond You: Observe that the Lord’s blessing on Joseph extended to everything and everyone around him. Potiphar was blessed because Joseph was in his house. The warden enjoyed God’s blessing because Joseph was in prison. When you carry God’s favor, it blesses you and those connected to you.

— Trust in God’s Plan: Despite being in adverse situations, Joseph trusted in God. He did not get bitter. If he had gotten bitter, he would not have walked in the favor of God to maximize each moment, even though they were unpleasant circumstances. If you want to enjoy the favor of God, you must trust Him, even through challenging times. Trust that God’s favor is on you, even though the situation may seem unfavorable!

— Recognition of God’s Hand by Others: Both Potiphar and the prison warden recognized that the Lord was with Joseph. Live in such a way that others can see God’s favor upon your life. For them to see it, you must first acknowledge it. Never think that you are the one who is making everything work out well! It’s the favor of God.

— Faithfulness in All Things: Joseph was faithful in both small and significant tasks. He also remained faithful to God when Mrs. Potiphar wanted to have sex with him. Faithfulness in your current season is a key to unlocking God’s favor and your next level of assignment.

— Favor Will Usher in Success in Whatever You Do: Emulate Joseph’s reliance on God to achieve success in everything you undertake. Joseph was successful everywhere he went because God was with him, and He favored Joseph. The more you acknowledge God’s presence and His favor, the more your life will testify of God’s favor.

Say this: “There is an unmistakable presence of God on my life! God favors me everywhere I go!”

2. From Adversity to Authority: Joseph’s Journey.

— Every Season Prepares You for the Next: Joseph’s time in Potiphar’s house and prison were not setbacks but setups for his future. Every situation Joseph faced was preparation for his ultimate purpose. Understand that God uses every experience to prepare you for your divine destiny.

— Elevation Through Integrity: Joseph maintained his integrity when Mrs. Potiphar wanted to have sex with him and then later, despite false accusations. Uphold your integrity, knowing that it attracts God’s favor and sets the stage for divine promotion. God is watching when no one else is watching.

— God’s Favor Manifests in Leadership: Joseph was made a leader in both Potiphar’s house and the prison. God’s favor often propels you into leadership roles, enabling you to influence and administer under God’s Kingdom principles.

— The Principle of Oversight and Stewardship: Joseph was trusted with everything under Potiphar’s and the warden’s care. God’s favor grants you oversight, entrusting you with greater realms of influence and stewardship. And as you prove that you can manage one level well, you will be given greater levels!

— Favor as a Foundation for the Future: Joseph’s experiences in adversity laid the foundation for his future success. He was promoted from prisoner to Prime Minister in one day because he waited on God’s timing and remained in faith, never complaining. Embrace every season, knowing that God’s favor upon you today builds the foundation for the future God planned!

— Remain Laser Focused On God’s Promises: Despite the years of waiting, Joseph never lost sight of God’s promises. He set his gaze on the dream God gave him until the dream came to pass. This is how we must live. Commit unwaveringly to God’s promises over your life, confident that His timing is perfect.

Say this: “Father, I keep Your dream for my life alive in my heart. I know it will come to pass, and while I wait on it, I get to experience Your favor every step of the way!”

3. Living Under the Canopy of God’s Favor.

— Continuous Acknowledgment of God’s Presence: To enjoy God’s favor continuously, you must acknowledge HIs presence continuously. Actively acknowledge God’s presence in your life, just as Joseph did. This acknowledgment invites continuous favor and success in all you do.

— Favor Transforms Environments: Just as Joseph’s favor transformed Potiphar’s house and the prison, expect God’s favor on your life to transform your environments, turning them into places of prosperity and blessing.

— Unshakable in Adversity: Joseph’s story teaches us to remain unshakable in the face of adversity. Your steadfastness in God attracts His favor and ensures you hold on long enough to experience the victory God already provided.

— Visibility Through Favor: God’s favor on Joseph made him visible and valuable in both Potiphar’s house and prison. God’s favor on your life will make you stand out and be sought after for divine assignments. Add this to your daily confession: “I am visible and valuable!”

— Claiming Your God-Given Success: Like Joseph, claim the success God has ordained for you, knowing that with His favor, you are destined to succeed in every endeavor aligned with His purpose. You are “success” going somewhere to “succeed” because God is with you everywhere you go. His presence brings His favor!

Declaration of Faith:

Father, I declare that Your unmistakable presence marks my life, bringing success, favor, and blessing not only to me but also to those around me.

I acknowledge that Your favor is not contingent on my circumstances but on Your presence, which guides me through every situation.

I commit to maintaining my integrity and faithfulness in all things, knowing that these qualities unlock deeper dimensions of Your favor.

I believe that every season of my life, including the times of adversity, is preparing me for the future You have ordained for me. I embrace each moment, knowing it contributes to Your greater purpose.

I remain focused on the promises You have placed in my heart, confident in Your timing and Your ability to bring them to pass.

I actively acknowledge Your presence every day, inviting Your continuous favor and success in all I do!

I trust that Your favor transforms my environments, making me a conduit of prosperity and blessing wherever I am placed.

I declare that I am visible and valuable because of Your favor, destined to succeed in every endeavor aligned with Your purpose.

GREATER IS COMING FOR ME because I live under a canopy of Your kindness daily! I declare this by faith, in Jesus’ name, AMEN!

This is Today’s Word. Apply it and prosper!
