Grace in Galatians (Part 19): When God Gives You Revelation By Grace

by Rick

Today, we continue our series entitled “Living the Grace Life,” where we will learn to embrace and walk in God’s unmerited, unearned, and often undeserved favor throughout 2025.

As part of this series, I am teaching a verse-by-verse exposition of the book of Galatians. Let’s get into it.

Key scriptures for this year:

2 Corinthians? ?9?:?8? ?TPT??

“Yes, God is more than ready to overwhelm you with every form of grace, so that you will have more than enough of everything—every moment and in every way. He will make you overflow with abundance in every good thing you do.”

Galatians? ?5?:?4? ?TPT??

“If you want to be made right with God by fulfilling the obligations of the law, you have cut off more than your flesh—you have cut yourselves off from Christ and have fallen away from the revelation of grace!”

Romans? ?6?:?14? ?ERV??

“Sin will not be your master, because you are not under law. You now live under God’s grace.”

1 Corinthians? ?15?:?10? ?NIV?

“But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.”

Scripture(s) we will study today:

Galatians 2:2 TPT

“I went there because God had given me a revelation to do so. I had a private meeting with the influential leaders of the church and shared with them the wonderful gospel that I was preaching to the non-Jewish people. I wanted to make sure that all my years of ministry and my current efforts were not a waste of time.”

Galatians 2:2 ERV

“I went because God showed me that I should go. I met privately with the leaders of the church—the ones who seemed to be important. I told them about the Good News that I preach to the people who are not Jewish. I did not want my past work and the work I am now doing to be wasted.”

John 5:19 ERV

“But Jesus said, ‘I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing alone. He does only what he sees the Father doing. The Son does whatever the Father does.'”

John 5:30 ERV

“I can do nothing alone. I judge only the way I am told, so my judgment is right. I don’t try to please myself, but I try to please the One who sent me.”

Setting the Stage:

In our previous lessons, we’ve seen how Barnabas pursued Paul and brought him into partnership for ministry. Now, Paul is telling us something crucial about how God operates through grace when He gives us revelation.  When Paul says he went to Jerusalem “because God had given me a revelation to do so,” he’s revealing a fundamental principle about grace having two dimensions.

First, God gives us revelation by grace.  This means we do not earn it or deserve it, nor can we figure it out on our own. Second, when God gives us revelation by grace, He’s also revealing what He’s giving us the grace (empowerment) to do.  This wasn’t Paul’s idea.  This wasn’t a political move.  This wasn’t even a suggestion from Barnabas.  This was God giving Paul revelation by grace, and that revelation revealed what God was also empowering him by grace to do.

But here’s something beautiful that Jesus taught us: God’s revelation becomes an invitation for participation.  In John 5:19 and 30, Jesus said He only said what He heard the Father say and only did what He saw the Father do.  This teaches us that revelation has two dimensions: hearing and seeing. When God reveals something to us, He’s not just giving us information—He’s inviting us to participate in what He’s already doing on the earth.

Let’s talk about it.

So, what does this mean to you today?  A few things.

1.  God Has Given You The Grace To Receive The Revelation That Will Take You To The Next Level.

Paul didn’t go to Jerusalem because it was convenient or because someone suggested it. He went, in his own words, “because God had given me a revelation to do so.”  God gave Paul revelation by grace (unearned favor), and that revelation showed Paul what God was also giving him grace (divine empowerment) to accomplish.

When you’re walking in #TheGraceLife, you don’t have to figure everything out with your natural mind.  God gives you supernatural revelation by grace, and that revelation reveals what He’s empowering you by grace to do.  Your ear must precede your tongue. What God reveals to your spirit through hearing becomes what you speak with your mouth through faith.

How this applies to you:

— When you are walking with the Holy Spirit, and you tap into the grace to receive revelation, you can’t always seek confirmation from others because they didn’t receive the same revelation you did.  This means you must both develop the discernment to hear and the courage (or faith) to obey.

— When you’re living #TheGraceLife, you don’t have to rely solely on natural wisdom or human advice—God speaks directly to you by His grace.

— You tapped into the grace for salvation when you were Born-Again, but now God wants you to tap into the grace for living!  He gives you revelation and empowers you into your next season of ministry, business, or personal growth.

— Don’t be surprised when God gives you revelation that goes against conventional wisdom. His thoughts are higher than our thoughts.

— Your willingness to act on God’s revelation determines whether you’ll experience supernatural results or just natural outcomes.

— When God gives you revelation (by grace), it comes with the empowerment to fulfill it. No Word from God ever comes void of the power to bring it to pass. So, you’re not just receiving information; you’re receiving divine ability.

— God, by His grace, provides both the insight and the power to act on it.

2.  God’s Revelation Becomes an Invitation for Participation.

Here’s what Jesus taught us about revelation: when God shows you what He’s doing, He’s inviting you to get involvedGod’s revelation becomes an invitation for participation. The Father shows Jesus what He’s doing, and Jesus participates. That’s how Jesus lived. In the same way, the Holy Spirit shows you what God is doing in your sphere of influence, and He invites you to participate.

There’s grace in two places: First, God gives you grace to see and hear and understand what He wants to do in the earth.  Second, when He invites you into something, God gives you the grace to do whatever He’s inviting you to do. You don’t just receive revelation—you receive revelation with empowerment.

How this applies to you:

— When God shows you what He’s doing in your family, business, or ministry, He’s inviting you to participate in His work, not start your own work. It is not about human effort.  It is about what He is doing and how He wants you involved in it.

— God’s revelation comes with built-in grace to accomplish what He’s showing you because He’s not just informing you, He’s inviting you.

— You can move with confidence when you know you’re participating in what God is already doing rather than trying to get God to participate in what you want to do.

— When you come up with something and present it to God, you are asking Him to bless what You want. But when God reveals to you what He is doing, and He invites you in, you don’t have to ask God to bless it. Becuase if it started in His heart, it is already blessed!

— When God gives you revelation about His plans, He’s also giving you grace to align your plans with His plans.

The same grace that opens your spiritual eyes to see also opens doors of opportunity for you to participate.

— God’s invitation for participation always comes with the empowerment to succeed because He doesn’t invite you to fail.

3.  God Can Give Reveal To You Whom You Should Connect With.

Notice that Paul didn’t just act on the revelation—he “had a private meeting with the influential leaders.” This shows us that God can give you revelation concerning whom you should connect with to accomplish what He wants done. Paul could have gone to Jerusalem and preached publicly, but instead, he received wisdom about meeting privately with specific leadership.

This demonstrates that God’s grace can reveal both your assignment and your connectionsGod shows you what He’s doing and whom He’s using to do it.

How this applies to you:

— There is a grace on your life to receive revelation from God about which relationships are strategic for your next season of ministry or business.

— God will lead you to people who will support His purposes.  They will become strengh to you and vice-versa.

— Sometimes, when you are flowing in God’s grace, He will reveal that certain conversations need to happen privately first before they become public.

— When you are flowing in God’s grace, the Holy Spirit will teach you to honor the relationships that God has ordained to be critical to your life’s assignment. Honor is the culture of God’s Kingdom.

— You are not called to be a lone ranger. You can be confident in your calling while still being respectful of the connections God reveals you need.

— When God gives you revelation by grace about connections, it’s to strengthen His Kingdom, not create competing factions. God always seeks unity, not division.

4.  God’s Grace Eliminates the Fear of Wasted Effort.

Paul said he wanted to make sure that “all my years of ministry and my current efforts were not a waste of time.”  This wasn’t insecurity—this was grace-based stewardship. Paul understood that when God does something by grace, nothing is wasted, but it does require proper alignment.

How this applies to you:

God’s grace always has a purpose for everything you’ve been through and everything you’re currently doing.

— When you’re walking in #TheGraceLife, you don’t have to worry about wasted seasons because God’s grace redeems everything for His glory.

— When God gives you revelation by grace, He is attempting to get you to align with His broader purposes, not just your personal preferences.

Nothing is wasted when it’s filtered through God’s grace.  God can even take your mistakes and delays and turn them around for your good.

— When you operate by God’s grace, you can be confident that He is making all things work together for your good and His glory.

— We only have a short time on this planet.  So, if we walk with the Holy Spirit and embrace His grace to see, hear, and understand, God will make sure we make the most of the time we have down here.

Declaration of Faith:

Father, I thank You for giving me the grace to see, hear, and understand what you are saying and revealing to me.

Your revelation positions me to grow in ministry, business, and my personal life.

I declare that I am sensitive to Your voice and quick to obey when You speak.

I embrace the grace to hear and the grace to do, even when it doesn’t make sense to my natural mind.

I declare that when You show me what You’re doing, You’re inviting me to participate in Your work, and You give me grace to succeed.

You also connect me to the right relationships to fulfill the assignments You’ve given me.

I declare that nothing in my life is wasted because Your grace redeems everything for Your glory.

I am living #TheGraceLife, and GREATER IS COMING FOR ME!

I declare this by faith. In Jesus’ name. Amen!

This is Today’s Word! Apply it and Prosper!
